@@ShayTheValiant Yeah but Mystical fire it's signature move is the main reason why it even needed a wand otherwise it should've just use it's mouth to use Mystical fire in the past generations
Actually, the model still has the stick. It's just that Delphox only takes it out in 2 hyper-specific instances. The first is during the team star base invasion like the other starters, and the other is when it uses the move shadowball and only shadowball. So clearly, there's some absolute weirdness or terrible decisions going on in how GF and Creatures inc. is animating these pokémon because they feel incredibly disjointed and lazy compared to the previous gens.
Seeing Delphox performing moves without wand feels so weird to me. It only use its wand when using shadow ball and only shadow ball. What? Why? I hope an update will fix this. 😢
@@RINEES98 well you’re actually right, I haven’t thought about it because I never use water shuriken on my greninja but it looks pretty good, maybe in the next games the budget goes to battle animations
To be fair, it also says _signature references_ meaning the original reference of their signature moves. Though of course I'd argue that Eruption shouldn't technically be considered Typhlosion's signature move since it first started as Groudon's, but he's the only starter right now that can learn it regardless.
Anyone else remember that greninja signature move Water shuriken was physical back in X and Y but changed to special when he got a new form a.k.a ash-Greninja
@@nightmarishtaco3434ow thats a damn lie, it was never useless, it was outclassed by shadow sneak in gen 6 due to sneak being a bit stronger than 2 hit shuriken, but shuriken was still used on some sets
It deeply upsets me that protean and battle bond were nerfed. Iam also absolutely LIVID that the spirit shackle animation just has decidueye fly up a little now. It's an ARCHER. The taking aim animation MADE SENSE. And chesnaught making its arms into a shield for spiky shield was so cool. WHY DID THEY REMOVE IT?
@jokechuthey could've simply made it to where tera being active on a pokemon prevents libero or protean to switch it's type Considering all the other absurd power creep in this game like chi-yu, zacian (even after the nerf) and tera ice regieleki ash-greninja wouldn't even be the most broken thing so from a balancing standpoint they could've left it in honestly
@@GWCuby Yeah because Terastallization is a Battle Gimmick instead of a Simple Ability. It has all the right to be broken, its supposed to shape the Metagame around it but Protean is just a stupid Ability some Pokémon got access to which made them so busted. Cinderace and Greninja didn't receive any major nerfs besides Protean and Libero and yet they dropped a few Tiers just because they couldn't instantly counter anything anymore.
Soooo guys… Hisuian Samurott has the hidden ability Sharpness which gives a 50% damage boost to both its signature moves: Razor Shell (75) boosted to 112.5 and Ceaseless Edge (65) boosted to 97.5 plus the “spikes” damage… and both moves are Stab boosted as well
Seeing these animations just makes me sad man, its really clear that gamefreak is really struggling to make these games on time now but like cmon man, its pokemon cant you figure something out
GF should really give time, cause even with SV and BDSP they were a mess, everyone knew it was a mess, but we still bought them Just give the anime, games, merchandise and cards a year to develop, making it every 4 to 5 years We can wait
Honestly, most of these aren’t an issue. Chesnaught not really making the shield anymore stings, and Delphox not using the wand for its (once) signature move is weird even though it does use it for some other animations. The only thing that is a complete unforgivable travesty here is the way Decidueye no longer gets to use its bow. The complete removal of Ash Greninja sucks, too, but I’ve never cared too much for Greninja either way.
Idk why SV still feels like an unfinished game(as of date) how is a past generation game has better animations(for the most part) than the current one? That just wrong, man.
I mean for the animation, I think they changed certain ones so they would be faster, and less disturbing in the open world in SV I guess. But for the unfinished feels of the game, that’s just cause GameFreak don’t know how to properly develope a high quality game with their lack of people, time, and the fact they are working on a full on console rather than handhelds.
@@user-kl6kv7ii5s Yep. Specifically, Nintendo. I'm sure if it were up to GF, they would love to take some more time to polish their games. even three months more would make a difference
Can't believe i wanna praise Sword/Shield visuals now... Dear god, what if i end up appreciating Scarlet/Violet visuals once the 10th gen comes out? How worse can they get? This is just insanity.
@@darklord-uz1rm considering how power creeped to hell this generation is and how Ash-Greninja was fine in Gen 7, I doubt it would be anything close to broken.
I felt so angry when they removed Ash-Greninja like what the hell they nerfed greninja so pikachu can still be the most favourite and let greninja get nerfed on purpose
Greninja ya era bueno con la habilidad mutatipo, no necesitaba una forma extra disfrazada de una falsa "mega evolución", mientras los otros iniciales de Kalos quedaban olvidados.
If you search some comparison video, you'll see how switch games sw/sh had several animation downgrades compared to 3ds s/m. So yes, the national dex was indeed a fair trade
They basically destroyed all signature moves after galar(where they improved it but never actually had kalos mons) in sv and they did most dirty to greninja
Blast-Burn was a massive downgrade. Eruption was actually half-better, half-worse IMO - primarily due to the lack of falling rocks. The beginning of the animation was better, the end not so much. Razor shell was kinda okay - liked the travel time initially but feel the splash effect on the slash should be bigger. Spikey shield's animation was the same, the main difference was that it's no longer got Chesnaut's pokemon specific animation. Mystical fire really didn't feel any different other than being marginally shorter and smaller, though the lack of Delphox's wand in its usage does feel a little odd.. Water Shuriken, like Chesnaut's spikey shield, looks pretty much the same minus the pokemon specific animation that it used to have. Spirit shackle looked better in both gen 8 and gen 7. Losing the custom pokemon specific animation here really hurt IMO. Rillaboom's drum beating isn't that much different, just lacking the root travel time. Losing the little flare of Cinderace's soccer play with Pyroball stings a bit, but the animation still animates him actually kicking the ball, so it's not to bad. Inteleon's snipe-shot really is almost no different. There wasn't much animation there in the first place. Arceus-Decidueye's Triple arrow actually looks **better** in S&V IMO. Arceus-Typhlosion's Infernal Parade looks pretty much identical Arceus-Samurott's Ceaseless edge is a bit of a downgrade - losing the initial dash forward and cross-slash stings a bit here. Here's the thing though - they're actively going out of their way to remove animations - remember, a lot of these were made in such a way to "future-proof" them. So the character specific animations that were lost had to actively not be transported in, which just makes this way sadder.
I believe the biggest factor is they gave us a free camera in most battles. flashy animations work fine when it's a fixed camera, but not if you're not even looking at the battle anyway, such as shiny tracking, as you would be pulled away from your view which would likely cause graphical issues.
Or they can just give you the ability to toggle between camera styles. For example a free cam that trainer can control and use while moving about that exits battle if you stray too far and the battle cam that focuses on the engaged battle like normal.
i love how gamefreak almost seems offended when you don’t call their games terrible please stop making excuses for them before we get a game that doesn’t have have all gyms at launch
Not true lmao, legends Arceus had an even more free camera and the animations still got stripped down to just the basic attack animation + half the effects Don't try to justify this, there is literally no excuse when they already did it correctly in the literal PREVIOUS GAME
Tbh they could’ve just did where you can choose to turn off battle cutscenes and make it so it’s always off in online battles. Other than online, at the end of the day the game is still single player so I would still like to enjoy/see my Pokémon’s animations(even if it’s a small change)
@@OliviaweHyeLiterally one of the selling points of this specific generation is that you can play the story mode with others online… wtf are you tryna cook. 🗿
I think the color inversion for the Starter Ultimate Moves (blast burn, hydro cannon, frenzy plant) was what really made them iconic and feel epic. Truly a bummer they didn’t retain that sense in any of the newer games
I can maybe forgive them for not having ash greninja in the newer games but to say I'm not all that thrilled that they got rid of Delphoxs stick, decidueyes bow, cinderaces Pyro ball animation, inteleons sniper shot and the other cool animations would be an understatement
The Hisuian Signature moves just don’t look as cool when the pokemon stays in its spot in SV. Like Samurott’s Ceaseless Edge or Decidueye’s Triple Arrows look so much better because of how they go move up into the opponents face
I’m not going to defend Game Freak, but I also just want to hear Pokémon fans not sound like a bunch of brain dead babies for a single second. One singular second, all I ask.
GF should just give everything an extra year to bake, games, cards, mechandise and anime With SV and BDSP they were bad, and we still bought them We can wait, finish your passion project
@luckyowl7772 lol my comment still stands. What high quality animations? Every move animation is a downgrade from the generations they were introduced in or exactly the same.
I find the big difference from SV animation to other games is to be focused on "fast paced battling". If the world and other visual things would be at least good, maybe this would feel more natural. Now it even makes more sense because they brought so many pokemons with signature move, I for myself would not mind these changes after hours of gaming and so many signature animation moves. (Yet the bad pokemon movements animation are so boring, they don't even close eye when they sleep or turn off in the case of the Violet Paradox)
it’s not that the games were good it’s that game freak keeps dropping the ball to the point they look impressive people are gonna say the same about gen 9
In fact, it is clear why this is so. From the 6th to the 8th generation, the same Pokemon models were used, so all animations could simply be transferred. In the 9th generation, Pokemon have new models, and it would be difficult to make individually designed animations for everyone.
@@trustme2674well i mean it is an explanation. It’s frustrating and pretty stupid but the commenter’s reasoning is pretty sound logic for why the lack of special animations is the case. Calling them a shill for that is stupid
That doesn't work here, however. Gamefreak largely scaled back the Pokedex to accommodate for being unable to rightly allot for every Pokemon in a game this size. _That_ much is what's understandable. Not doing the due diligence on the Pokemon they _did_ include, especially in what is meant to be their continued push for a proper transition into a big open world Pokemon title, is _not._ I mean, c'mon now. Let's not forget what an unrepentantly broken mess these were on release. Effort wasn't exactly worn on their sleeves.
@@trustme2674 I agree, but Gamefreak has always been famous for the disgusting technical and not only the state of the games. And there is no point in justifying them for this. I just wrote down why the animations degraded. (If there are any mistakes in the text, I apologize, I use a translator)
@@MagnificantSasquatch I believe Creatures Inc. is the one in charge of all animations and models, not Gamefreak. Not sure what exactly point I'm trying to make, but just wanted to correct the fact. Although if Creatures is lazy too that makes 2/3rd of the owners of The Pokemon Company not caring about the quality which makes sense why Nintendo can't force a quality control thing(Also thinking about it 80% of Pokemon revenue comes from merch, and Creatures seems to be more in charge of that than Gamefreak so they have even more incentive to be lazy on the games itself).
one of the things that I hate that they removed was the hisui decidueye and sammarott how ever you spell it actually walked up towards the opponet and attacked instead of attacking from the distance.
The fact people still complain about these ganes looking bad is astonishing because Game Freak had to re-animate all the pokemon, give them all new textures, while also making a entire map that is free roam all the while needing to code in the special way these games raids work while also texturing everything we see all within a 3 year time limit forced on yhem by the Pokemon Company mind you and given they never had to do these things since gen 6 Id say the game works better then expected.. if this game had longer than 3 years to be created id bet these games would just be the best games we had since gen 5 imo because the story compared to gen 6 onward and gen 3 and bellow this games story is beyond awesome and since they will have most pokemon textured I would bet that when gen 10 comes around the game will be better looking and work properly..
I say it every time a video like this is made but MAN does this game suck with animations. All the old ones got simplified HARD and the ones that stayed the same got scaled down into a baby sized version of the move like with Spacial Rend. The literal only one that is identical to every other iteration of it is Hisuian Typhosion's sig move and it was already pretty simple.
I wish they could update the Water Shuriken with a twist combination (just like sunny day and solar beam or rising the power of fire moves) imagine using double team and next turn you use water shuriken and it will have a new animation also rising the evasion of Greninja
I like how blast burns animation looks better on a 20 year old console they it does on a current gen one absolutely pathetic this is why I don’t play the games anyone they cut corners at every turn
nothing special the 3d models were doing the same thing with just visual effects covering most of it giving illusion that they doing another "animation"
What is going on with game freak. Why did they cut off the numbers of animation per Pokemon. Where's Chasnaught's arm shield, Delphox rod, or Cunderace good animation for Pyro-Ball? I think if employees are doing a lazy work it's because they want to show us that they don't care anymore about the licence
Well, as I've always said, Scarlet and Violet animations look like crap and so do their shadows and world textures 😢 I can't really understand the visual praise they got from some reviewers (besides Pokemon fur and skin looking a little nicer now). I heavily despised Sword and Shield as games, but i hate to admit that they look way more appealing, more vibrant and at least had some decent animations. 😢
I might get hate for this but terms of animations/graphics and gameplay I prefer Sword and Shield over Scarlett and Violet and I don't even own the game yet I still want to get it although Pokemon Scarlett and Violet doesn't seem like it will be part of my lisf of what games to get oncs I'm able to purchase a Nintendo Switch OLED
Nah PLA was the beginning of the end honestly. Many animations were extremely simplified from SwSh, and while they made up for it with the Pokémon actually moving around and making physical contact, it’s the reason so many animations are now what they are in S/V.
GameFreak is the most fuckdupers in the world, how you, as a game company owner of the most valuable franchise in the world, and even so you are still capable of putting less effort in your games than some random dude with his 2019 computer making a indie game
Honestly, Galar had some good animated moves and Paldea ruined it. Other example are the fields, like psychic, electric, Misty and grassy terrain, they look boring now compared to SW
Honestly I am super glad I stopped buying the games around Gen 7. I regret buying shield and I truly am glad I didn't bother with Scarlet and Violet. The shit just fell hard and keeps getting worse.
Love how people are like these moves dont look the same. Its like yeah its not their game anymore why should chesnaught special move have the effort as Meowscarada one is from 3 gens ago and one is a current starter could they have put a little more effort yeah just be happy you can use the previous gen starters we haven't seen gen 2 starters get any love for over 20 years and yeah there was the gen 2 remake but they just went back to obscurity right after
New animation ruined my favorite starter, Decidueye because in SV is just him flying and shooting an arrow out of nowhere but a little blackhole and cool bow animation wasn’t even there😢
Yo. Where is my Chesnaught's shield at, bro?! Wait. There is no battle bond in ScVi, right? How did Greninja get that boost? Broo... they changed up the Spirit Shackle animation too? Not cool bro. Wait... THEY ACTUALLY CHANGED CINDERACE'S AND INTELEON'S SIGNATURE MOVE ANIMATIONS! I cant believe this... Even when a move becomes known to other Pokemon, the original user should still have their animation, like Greninja did.
