Something special for a lot of us nerds and geeks is finding out that it was Rose Tyler who sang this. Billie was just another singer on the album, but years later, finding out that this was Billie Piper, someone we'd fallen in love with on Doctor Who, she stands out far more.
Lyrics: Yeah... (yeah) (Yeah) ooh Oh (oh) Na-hoo... Nothin’s gonna stop me this time (Yeah...) Nothin’s gonna stop me this time (oh-yeah...) Yeah...(yeah) oh...(yeah) ooh... (Na-na-na) Nothin’s gonna stop me this time Oh... Been on the loosing (puh) side This time I’ll turn the tide This time I won't give up (puh), no baby This time (oo-oo-oo-oo-oo) I’m in (puh) control I want the whole world to know Ain’t nothin’ (puh) can slow me down this time A sweet faith (puh) is on my side...(puh) And I’m givin’ all (puh) I’ve got... Yeah, baby, climbin’ each step straight to the top And if the river’s too wide, I’ll get through it And (hah) if the mountain’s too high, (hah) that won’t stop this dream of mine (mine) I’m on my way... I’ve gotta plan... I’m makin’ my way anyway that I can So many times I (hah) played (hah) In someone else’s (hah) game This time the game has (hah) changed (hah), oh baby (baby ooh) This time I make the (hah) rules I won’t be nobody’s fool (ooh) Ain’t no one’ (no one’) could hold me (hah) down this time (down this time) These words gonna be mine (gonna be mine...) There’s a brand new strength I’ve found Yeah, ain’t lookin’ back, ain’t backin’ down... And if the river’s too wide, I’ll get through it... And if the mountain’s too high, that won’t stop this dream of mine... I’m on my way... I’ve gotta plan... I’m makin’ my way anyway that I can And if the river’s too wide (ooh...), I’ll get through it (I’ll get through it...) And if the mountain’s too high, that won’t stop this dream of mine... (stop this dream of mine...) I’m on my way... (I’m on my way...) I’ve gotta plan... (I’ve gotta plan...) I’m makin’ my way anyway that I can... (I’m on my way...) This time around (I’m on my way...) I stand my ground I live my dream (Hah)I’ve realized the power is (hah) keeping me... (in me...) (Ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh, ooh) Nothin’s gonna stop me this time (oh-oh, oh...oh) I’m on my way (yeah) Been on the loosing (hah) side (hah) This time I’ll turn the (hah) tide (hah) This time I won't give up (hah) I want the whole world to know Ain’t nothin’ to slow (hah) me down this time... A sweet faith (hah) is on my side... And I’m givin’ all I’ve got Yeah baby, climbin’ each step straight to the top... And if the river’s too wide, I’ll get through it (I’ll get through it...) And if the mountain’s too high, that won’t stop this dream of mine... (stop this dream of mine...) I’m on my way... (I’m on my way...) I’ve gotta plan... (I’ve gotta plan...) I’m makin’ my way anyway that I can... And if the river’s too wide, I’ll get through it (yeah) And if the mountain’s too high, that won’t stop this dream of mine... (mine...) I’m on my way... (I’m on my way...) I’ve gotta plan... (I’ve gotta plan...) I’m makin’ my way (makin’ my way) anyway that I can... (way that I can...) (I’m on my way...) I’ll get through it... (I’m on my way...) (I’m on my way...) stop this dream of mine... (I’m on my way...) I’ve gotta plan... (I’m on my way...) Way that I can (I’m on my way...) (I’m on my way...) (I’m on my way...)
Dude this was like my favorite song of all time when I was 7. I can't believe Billie Piper was only 15-16 when she sang this song. She sounds so mature.
Of course Billie had a life before Doctor Who, granted, it may be a little annoying... but there's nothing wrong with fans proclaiming, "Rose can sing!". It doesn't mean they're dumb, it just means that they're realizing something they didn't know prior about one of their favorite characters/actors of the show. On another note, this song is pretty dang great.
Honesty, my all time favorite movie since my childhood. Legendary soundtracks, The Cast, the storyline, and the characters. Pure legend of a film, Glad to have it on cassete. How time flies.
I only discovered the singer was the actress who was Rose in Doctor Who this past year. I was literally in shock! LOL Made my life that. :P Old favorite show crossed with my present favorite show. :P And to top that this was always one of my favorite songs off the album! :P I had always wondered why there was a vid of Doctor Who clips and this song. Just thought some Doctor Who fan must of liked the song and put it to the clips. Now I see a different connection :P
@Lordlos, This song was never in the film. It was only featured on the soundtrack. Only two songs were featured in the feature presentation. A number of other songs were part of the ending credits. If anything, this song kind of represents Ash Ketchum's attitude toward becoming a Pokemon Master basically. Very encouraging number. If they would have inserted this in the film, a opportune part would have been when our heroes had to get through a storm that was a test by Mewtwo.
i remember this song, i have the soundtrack and i like some of the songs on it especially this one. the movie brings back so many memories. i remember my grandma taking me to see this.
I was absolutely shocked to find out that ROSE TYLER herself did music for the first Pokemon Movie! The more I became older the more I discover two things I love being connected.
Damn that song still rocks in 2012! This Pokemon cd was by far the best from all of them. I used to spend my day listening to this, it helped me with my singing skills. I Will never forget those great times.
I'm currently having a hard time in my life - I'm stuck in a rut and lost about what to do with myself. But as I keep trying to find ways to go forward, I'll take things one step at a time - and as I go, I'm going to sing this song and remember the message in it, until I reach my goals. And if I fall in the river, or down the steps or the mountain, I'll keep getting up and moving on. Because I know I can make it, as long as I dont give up.
I...watched this movie frequently as a child. I don't remember this song. That said, it definitely seems like something 90s 4Kids would throw into a movie.' And I'm suddenly visited by the urge to rewatch this. Man, remember when Pokemon movies felt like more than just marketing?
It was one of the songs that played during the ending credits. Unless you born before mid 90's, you wouldn't have known that Billie was a singer before she became an actress. Her breakthrough role was Rose on Doctor Who, which led to other starring roles like The Diary of a Call Girl.
“And if the river’s too wide I’ll get through it. And if the mountain’s too high that won’t the stream of mine. I’m on my way, I’ve got a place. I’m making my way anyway that I can.” I actually have this movie on VHS and I’m only 19.
THAT FEEL WHEN YOU KNEW WHO BILLIE PIPER WAS BEFORE DR WHO. for fucks sake. ._. Look at you all!! OMG I DIDNT KNOW ROSE LIKED POKEMON OFMOFMODFSOFMODFMO IM A DUMB FAN.
OMG THAT FEEL WHEN YOU SEE A RUDE PERSON... Seriously calm down. Many people knew she was a pop singer when she was in her teens.. and she is also an actress. That doesn't mean you should be rude when people didn't know she was a singer when she was younger.
I remember back when I was 5 when my brother would blast this every day this song does not get old to this day Im 12 now and my brother is 21 I do not even regret him blasting this 24/7
"And if the rivers too high ill give boobeh!" No lie, i sang it this way since It came out when I was 8. It wasnt until recently I discovered the actual lyrics. I sang along to it completely horrified. But was like.. "well its pokemon.. so..." I got the rest of the lyrics completely wrong as well. And it ended up being a song about her breast feeding. Then later i learned the truth, and that it was sung by Billie Piper. All was then well with the world. lmfao
So funny I was singing the lyrics wrong for years I thought it was if the mountains too high then I will find a rope and climb. 10 year old me had lyrical genius. 😂.
Oh, so Billie "Rose Tyler" Piper sang this song way back in the day?! BRB, I gotta go bribe Chris Chibnall to work in a scene where the Thirteenth Doctor and whatever companion(s) said Doctor may have get super-hammered and sing this song in an intergalactic/inter-dimensional Karaoke Contest of Death.
You too? For me it was this song, Fly With Me and If Only Tears Could Bring You Back. It was frustrating because I remember taking really good care of that CD (I still have it btw and the same songs still skip). Maybe it was the constant use 'cause I played it all the time. :')
