Depends on the way you look at it. Younger beginners may have struggled, especially if this was their first Pokemon game. Experienced and knowledgeable players know to evenly level up your team and have a good type spread, not just relying on 1 legendary you found towards the end of the game and sweeping the main story with your starter. She was not hard by most standards, but you also have to remember that by generation 6, most of the glaring over-powered types have counters. In the first game, Psychic was overpowered and nothing was strong against it except the Gengar line and Bug Pokemon, except that there really weren't any good bug moves in Gen 1. Dark was then introduced to counter Psychic in Gen II, and it countered it hard (in addition to adding another Ghost weakness). Dragon after awhile became the strongest, and Gen VI finally had to answer for it with the Fairy type. In Gen VI, the combination of being able to visibly see and easily train EV's, the extremely diverse move-pool, TMs no longer breaking, and having fairly good type balancing, just in general made the game more easy to cope with.
Diantha may be the series' most underwhelming champion with a disappointingly easy battle, but this theme slaps HARD. It's worth going through the League again and again just to hear this music
@@toschiworlds7212 The issue is that her Team is Countered by a whole Two Pokemon. Greninja. And Any of the Fairy Type Pokemon available to you. Her team CAN actually be pretty Nasty if you either diliberately choose to not have either types those two cover or you straight up don't know how to counter her Pokemon. (I would know, I got bodied by her Gogurgiest and *Sigh* Mega Gardevoir)
@@aurateharchengamer I get that. It’s just that I simply don’t care if a game/a part of a game is easy as long as I still have fun playing it. And despite Diantha’s easy to beat team, I still enjoyed the fight because it was fun to me.
Underwhelming the fight might be , but when she brings out her mega gardevoir and the theme hits just that right key point , you cant deny that its epic .
Especially since Megas in this fight also force the player to have the full animation, even if they've already seen it that session. Nothing like having your Kanto starter mega up against a mega for this fight.
Simething I like with all champion themes since Iris (well, Kukui and Hau aren't champion, but you get it, right?) is that they make it clear that their battle is more or less just a fun battle with little more than pride at stake, and yet, the beat still gives you the eccitement of a final boss battle. This is especially true for Iris, Diantha and Leon, IMO.
@@GearHead36 except for the first time. In SUMO, Kukui refuses to give you the title until yoh beat him, and in USUM, it's heavily implied that you and Hau defeated the Elite Four at the same time, as you barely have time to sit on your thronw, and Kukui tells you you can't be champion until you defeat Hau.
@@NeoArashi >their battle is more or less just a fun battle with little more than pride at stake I would argue the opposite for Cynthia. Her pride, sure, but what's really at stake is your survival.
Funnily enough, the E4 gave me more trouble than Diantha did in my XY nuzlocke. The E4 ended up beating the rest of my team except for my Tyrantrum, my strongest player. With just him in tow, he absolutely wiped the floor with Diantha. One shot every single Pokémon. Never been more proud of a slightly hairy and very angry T-Rex in my life.
I _LOST_ to Diantha the first time. X was my first mainline Pokémon game ever, so I didn't understand how the game really worked or what the Pokémon's types were.
The elite 4 was though for me, indeed it was my first time playing pokemon and didn't know that a shrimp could use aura sphere dragon pulse shadow ball, flamethrower voltswitch... okno but xd
Diantha was unfortunately easy, but at the same time I was overleveled. Her Mega Gardevoir was hard though, but that was because I was determined to take her down with my own Gardevoir despite not having any super effective moves and no Gardevorite of my own. My Gardevoir won BTW. I absolutely love her theme though. Very fitting for a champion of such elegance.
@@avalanche6468 Mega Gardevoir isn't the fastest pokemon, but if your team is slower, she *will* destroy you. Learned that the hard way on my second playthrough. My team was on par with her Mega Gardevoir, and she pretty much OHKO'd most of my team because it was slower. The only Pokemon that could tank one of her attacks was my Shiny Dragalge thanks to its crazy high special defence, but I couldn't OHKO it even with STAB Sludge Bomb.
@@NeoArashi I had a High-LV Delphox (My starter was Fennekin) with INSANE speed. He could almost OHKO most Pokémon from the ELITE FOUR! Part of it was also my strong bond with said Delphox. Cut, Mystical Fire, Flamethrower, and Psyshock. Upper 70's. Twisted Spoon to cover for the Psychic-Type move. I won without a party KO (What I call when I lose all of my party) three times in a row.
I also had a fair bit of challenge with it. Not only was pretty much my entire team slower, but my fastest Pokémon, Salamence, had no chance at all of surviving Gardevoir's Moonblast. Going back on it, I should've given my Arbok a Payapa Berry to tank a Psychic and retaliate with Gunk Shot, but even then I'm not sure it would kill. My mega of choice here was Blastoise, which just so happened to be weak to Gardevoir's Thunderbolt. It, along with Slurpuff, were the only two Pokémon on my team that could tank a hit from it. So, thanks to the Max Revives that Serena/Calem gives you after you battle them, I was able to do a bit of revive dancing to eventually knock it out. God damn it I don't like using items, but I really didn't feel like redoing the Elite Four.
that one dislike is probably someone who had a hard time with diantha and is jealous how eveyone else beat her so easily basically big foot (unless you're new to the game yet)
I was younger playing this game and since I didn't know what the heck I was doing, so what was going through my mind was gotta beat them, and I finnish this game within two weeks.... I did have trouble with the Rock, Fairy and Physic Leaders tho
How can I explain you that I beat mega gardevoir with garchomp, my last pokemon, who I thought was extremely slow but somehow managed to use dig first and dodged the lethal moonblast XD
I would say something about how gen 6 introduced a bunch of my favorites, but every generation (even 1) has its awesome designs and its stinkers. And the music being good is a given.
Diantha may have been executed horribly as a character especially compared to Leon or Blue, and may not have a difficult fight like Cynthia or Steven, but this theme is better than every other Champion theme combined (including the Nemona final theme)
2:34 It sounds so magical, like, "Show me who you are". I feel like the recent champion themes have had a meaning to them. This theme will forever be one of my favorites.
As someone who didn’t use his experience share I can say her Hawlucha massacred half my team and combined with this theme makes it my most memorable champion battle.
as much as i adore diantha, she is the easiest champion i have ever faced. hell, cynthia and red gave me a challenge. plus she doesnt aid you against team flare (cynthia did the same thing against team galactic in the base diamond and pearl games but she does help in platinum) diantha,s theme slaps though.
Thank you! I actually legitimately struggled with Diantha, but Lance, literally all of his Pokémon are weak to rock moves, and Geodude is one of the most common encounters in the game.
I understand that everyone says Diantha was so easy but I really enjoyed the fight. I only had one under leveled pokemon at level 58 but it was still enough to become the champion myself. Also a rather than perfect theme for a championship match.
wow all my pokemon were under level 60 and on average around 56 and i still won easily ( and im not complaining about it so please do not reply hate :) )
i honestly had a lot of fun. I was pretty underleveled and her gardevoir wiped my team but I was able to win by just a hair and it was tense and I really needed it since I flew through everything else
I had hard times in my last Playthrough because only my Pyroar was over level 60. So she gave me a challange. And then there was the one rematch where I defeated most of the League with only Mega Lucario level 72 but was defeated by Guardevoir
A ton of people say Alder is a forgettable champion, well at least Alder had good morals in the games unlike Diantha who had only 2 LINES in her own game prior to battling her.
After I get my Kanto starter, I always keep it and my Kalos starter at the same level with the same experience until this battle. I unleash my Kalos starter against Hawlucha, then mega evolve my Kanto starter against Gardevoir and unleash its type exclusive Hyper Beam. Note: I use Blastoise with Chesnaught, Venusaur with Delphox, and Charizard with Greninja.
I swept most of Diantha's team with my Furret, but when she sent out her Tyrantrum I actually decided to switch to my OWN Tyrantrum to meet her challenge head-on. Mine won, despite being five levels below hers.
Huh, don't think I've ever listened to this one long enough to hear it repeat. I blame the wacky levelling curve of these games. It's basically the complete opposite from Johto. There it's difficulty to touch level 50, here it's impossible not to touch level 80.
I'm a Kalos baby too. I love the region. Its peak beauty. Its very aesthetic. Story could've been better. Otherwise, Kalos is the best looking region so far.
How has no one noticed that 0:10-0:20 is a remix of the original Pokemon Gen 1 trainer battle music? In fact this whole song sort of sounds like a remix of it.
I know it’s the champion’s theme, but I have 6 Pokémon I heavily associate with this elegant battle!!! (Chesnaught, Talonflame, Blastoise, Xerneaus, Articuno, and eventually Zygarde!)
beat her with only a pansage tbh. sure it was lv70 or 75 during that time but man, diantha's really underwhelming. the song's kinda sick though but it can't beat cynthia's theme
Cynthia 🤝Diantha Having Banger themes but can't hear because the battle isn't long enough or you just keep having the annoying beeping (Not in BDSP btw)
Based on Gen 8 buffs, and without looking at stuff like Smogon, this is how I’d personally go about it. •Hawlucha: EV investment- Attack + Speed Nature- Adamant Item- Power Herb Ability- Unburdened Moves- Focus Punch, Acrobatics, Flying Press, Poison Jab •Tyrantrum: EV investment- Attack + Defense/Sp. Defense Nature- Jolly Item- Chople Berry Ability- Rock Head Moves- Head Smash, Psychic Fangs, Dragon Claw, Dragon Dance •Aurorus: EV investment- Defense + Sp. Defense Nature- Bold Item- Focus Sash Ability- Snow Warning Moves- Aurora Veil, Blizzard, Ancient Power, Thunder Wave •Gourgeist: EV investment- Attack + Defense Nature- Impish Item- Leftovers Ability- Insomnia Moves- Shadow Sneak, Seed Bomb, Phantom Force, Will-O-Wisp •Goodra: EV investment- HP + Sp. Defense Nature- Sassy Item- Yache Berry Ability- Hydration Moves- Rain Dance, Sludge Bomb, Dragon Pulse, Muddy Water •Gardevoir: EV investment- Sp. Attack + Speed Nature- Timid Item- Gardevoirite Ability- Trace/Pixilate (Mega) Moves- Psychic, Hyper Voice, Shadow Ball, Mystical Fire Edit (5/6/22): -Swapped Pasho Berry for Chople Berry on Tyrantrum since it’s not weak to water and to aid against the fighting weakness it shares with Aurorus -Swapped Moonblast for Hyper Voice on Gardevoir to make use of Pixilate (don’t know how this flew over my head)
Meowstic is acutally strong. I got a lot of hate for my Prankster, DualScreen, Thunderwave, Psychic Meowstic with 252/252 HP, Special Attack investment, for beating up every single Eternatus 1v1.
@@Dacore_DE What?? Surely you meant Indeede. Meowstic is a paper cannon! I love cats but sorry as much as it hurts, Meowstic is _not_ the one, she hits like a bubble-blower.
I swear Diantha's other Pokémon were fairly easy it's just the Gardevoir wiped out all mine. Last playthrough I did I beat her with my last Pokémon which was my Delphox lol.
