Brief rundown of each Ultra Beast: - Nihilego (Rock/Poison): A jellyfish made of glass. Latches onto a host's head to manipulate them with neurotoxin. - Buzzwole (Bug/Fighting): A mosquito with swelling fluid sacs all over its body. Drains vital energies with its large proboscis. - Pheromosa (Bug/Fighting): A slender white cockroach. Runs super-fast and dislikes touching "dirty" things. - Xurkitree (Electric): A walking tree resembling power cables. Drains energy from the ground or from power plants. - Celesteela (Steel/Flying): A bamboo-like rocket. Can launch off by firing intense heat from its thrusters. - Kartana (Grass/Steel): An origami doll. Has flexible but sturdy bladed edges. - Guzzlord (Dark/Dragon): A giant beast with a huge mouth. Cleanly digests anything and everything it eats. - Poipole (Poison): A small creature. Its head stinger shoots adhesive fluid. - Naganadel (Poison/Dragon): A draconic wasp (evolves from Poipole). Shoots adhesive fluid from its stinger with startling accuracy. - Stakataka (Rock/Steel): A colony of bricks in a tower shape. Each brick is an individual lifeform. - Blacephalon (Fire/Ghost): A clown-like specter. Its head can explode like fireworks and regenerate. There's also a number of sci-fi references in this animation. Off the top of my head, there's: - 2001: A Space Odyssey - Lilo & Stitch - Transformers - Ridley (Metroid) - Headcrabs (Half-Life) - Trash compactor (Star Wars) - Dalek (Doctor Who) - Alien - Close Encounters of the Third Kind - Crop circles (Signs) - Space Core (Portal) - Among Us - IT (Hiya, Georgie!) - In the anime, Guzzlord's cry really does sound similar to this. Likewise, Kartana's voice is just backwards sentences - though here, it's using lines from another proud swordfighter, Jetstream Sam (Metal Gear Rising). - Tens of billions of Boxes...Just what is going on in Oak's PC??
