Not to be a downer but i feel like it's too late. Yes it's nice there's more people who're seein the greatness of gen 5 but if more people liked it back when it released then there most likely would've been more pokemon games like B&W and B2&W2...
@@marvelous_jack5228 I think that’s not fully true, pokemon would go 3D no matter what, it was being compared to other games so unless we stopped evolving 3D animation, it probably still have went to the samepatb bit that’s just my opinion
My dream remake would be a combination of BW + B2W2 where your choices in BW effect parts of the story in B2W2. Also you get to fight your BW trainer at the end of B2W2. And yes this will never happen but a boy can dream.
If they do a remake of gen 5, they better introduce one of Pokemon's mysterious pokemon yet to appear: The Original Dragon. I would totally be down for that.
That is a fantastic idea that would be extremely satisfying, excite fans worldwide, and be an outstanding marketing point. As a result, it will never happen.
@@ferrets8887 I would really love a game that talks about the original dragon but isn’t Kyurem supposed to be the left over husk? And also what would a complete Kyurem look like? Black Kyurem and White Kyurem fused together would be kind of a lazy design and I think it would be really interesting if it looked completely different from its base design. It would be cool to see back stories about other generations. Actually considering that the unexplored plot from Gen 6 is intriguing I would love to see a game cover the Pokémon war that keeps getting mentioned.
@@TheRealOmniscient No it's not. It's brutally honest. I remember the backlash these games faced like it happened yesterday. The pokemon fans bullied GF into making shit games, and that is a hill I will die on
Gen 5 games really pushed the DS hardware to its limits. I remember going back to gen 4 games, seeing a sprite in battle and think to myself 'now it just looks like a part of a body standing still'. gen 5 had so much life to it, both in the battle animations and the world itself - BW2 had some of the best, most gorgeous locations in pokemon games ever
They even incorporated real vocals into the soundtrack in BW2. Something they couldn’t even be bothered with in SWSH (looking at the disgusting Piers scene). It’s so sad how game freak/Nintendo execs have pushed money over quality products.
Personally I'd like to see a Pokemon legends game that focuses on the lore of the Legendary Trio. (Tao Trio) (Zekrom, Reshiram and Kyurem) If that's somehow possible.
That's honestly a terrifying concept. You get to play as a peasant trying to make ends meet while giant, terrifying dragons scorch the land under the command of greedy nobles - that sounds like something I'd like to play!
Maybe things would not be terrifying at the start. You would be able to see the original dragon, which I want to call Origin Kyurem for now, before the inevitable split of this trio. Things get terrifying when Origin Kyurem completely splits, leaving the Kyurem that we know now that can, at present, only fuse with one of the others at a time.
“If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” That saying applies to a lot of things, including the Thomas franchise, multiple movies, and other TV shows getting terrible reboots. It also applies to Pokémon. The Gen 5 games are by far my favorites in the franchise. They are all great, not entirely perfect, but in my opinion, they don’t need to be improved upon with remakes. Just let these games be the masterpieces they are. Even though they came out only a few years ago, they are games from a different time in the Pokémon franchise. A time where HM’s still existed and Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection was still a thing (I think). Please, Game Freak. Don’t remake these games. Just let them be.
I want a remake but I don’t think Pokémon Co and GF will allow them to be great! Look at BDSP, it’s awful! However there’s rumors that BDSP was supposed to be like Legends Arceus but Masuda cockblocked Ilca from doing that and used the concept art to make Legends and now GF is taking credit for Legends when the graphics for Legends isn’t even great, it’s good by Pokémon standards but what is Pokémon standards? How high is that? Also don’t forget how Pokémon Co won’t allow delays! Ilca was the ones that pushed for the little Platinum content in the games! BWR can be great! But the stupidity of the fans, the greed of Pokémon Co and the laziness of GF hinders Pokémon! We are in a dark age of Pokémon and I just want it to be over!
I would have been fine if they kept the BW engine and not do full 3D if it meant they could continue with the features and content, because I never thought we needed full 3D if the result were just stiff models, bad textures, and cut content. They could have just kept the games in higher resolution. Gen 5 was definitely something they didn't need to fix, because the sprites were already fully animated.
Honestly I don't want a remake. It's either be horribly done by Gamefreak or have that ILCA to make it. Because 2 mobile games and a app seems reasonable for making a entire game cough cough BDSP
not even GF will remake these games though ( im pretty sure gen 5 will get a remake at this point ) lets see what can ILCA do to maybe replicate GF work on bw/bw2
My guy, they came out almost ten years ago. BW released in 2011, while BW2 released in 2012. "They came out only a few years ago" Thats something we should think about.
You wanna know what we need? A good game. GameFreak nowadays only seems to care about money, while cutting contents and shitting on the fans, which is disgusting.
@@jakk2631 They won't even try to release that 3D remake in an acceptable state. I think a full blown 3D remake of Gen 5 would be amazing if they put a lot of effort into it.
Black & White and its sequel have some of the best "upbeat attitude" I've ever felt in a turn-based game, gameplay, music and visuals complementing each other perfectly. They were doing the Persona 5 tricks years earlier on underpowered hardware.
Same. I haven't felt this way with other Pokemon games other than Gen. 5. Not saying they're all bad. Not all of them anyway. But they weren't as well polished and flow as the Gen. 5 games were to me.
Spider-Man Can't See. I do like Gen. 4 before. But man. Going back to it now. It's hard for me to replay now. The game is so slow, there's to much HM requirements that are absolutely atrocious, level curve and gaining experience was an slog ( even with the Vs. Seeker ) and while I appreciated the challenge, the difficulty can get pretty obnoxious at the end. Not to say it's bad. For all the gens fault, it does have many good moments that stands out. It's still an pretty solid game and I thank for it getting me back into the Pokemon franchise. But I just personally think Gen. 5 is way better now. But that's just me.
The saddest thing about Gen 5’s relative commercial failure is that they could have made for perfect 3DS releases. The battles could have been gorgeous pixel dioramas making full use of the 3DS’s 3D effect.
all that would be is just missed potential to be actual 3D games. Seriously the sooner they made the jump to 3D the quicker they can get better and advance the 3D games.
@@Jdudec367 I get that some people would have been upset by that, but we’ve had the same 3D Pokémon models and animations used for almost a decade now, while Gen 5 still looks clean and unique.
@@Smfsableye I know which is lame but my point is they still should have made the jump to 3D at some point but they shouldn't have reused Pokémon models and animations so much.
I love gen 5s art. It’s so beautiful, I grew up with gen 4 and gen 5 as a child and all I can say is with the new 3d games, they don’t give off the same feel, these feel more loved.
9:50 made me teary eyed. Skyarrow bridge was my favorite part of the entire game, and Everytime I launched the game I would walk, run, and bike up and down the bridge.
Didn't know what to expect when I clicked on the timestamp, but got the biggest grin right after. Skyarrow Bridge honestly encapsulates the effort put into BW/BW2.
The story needs to be extended either with a Legends : Kyrem Or by creating a 3rd game. Kyrem was once all 3 dragons as one. We have only seen one or the other fused so it’s time to see all of them fused together
The latios/latias fly sequences from OR/AS were a really good example of the developers trying to innovate with 3D. Wonder why that got scrapped in the later gens.
@@invisanon Yeah they REALLY aren't consistant, everytime they do something players geniually like, they change it to something more of a annoyance and tedious.
They're Lazy. We used to have different sprites between the two main versions of a generation, now we're on the 3rd gen in a row of the same desaturated grey 3d models. Also they got rid of Mega evolution for an objectively worse version of the same thing in Sword and Shield
@@invisanon Yeah they've learned that they don't really have to try for Pokemon to sell. Actually quite the opposite. They tried something new with B & W and "failed" technically because it sold poorly
Remember when we could cut the grass with cut and it would stay gone? It was an option to avoid mons without repels and was pretty neat They took it out I'm pretty sure literally 1 gen later Dreamworld was the coolest extension Or the pokewalker Or customization on your Cgear (you could add custom backgrounds like the starters for example)
Younger us wanting better mainline 3d pkmn games literally encapsulates the “upgrade, fuck go back” meme. Kinda wish GF stuck with pixel art just a bit longer...
Which is also the main reason why they're finding it hard to adapt in the 3d environment. Just give em time to adapt with 3d and they'll manage to replicate their success like they did back in their sprite days.
@@zebimicio5204 why would anyone want to suffer for several more bad games to have them finally come out with something even a fraction as good as their pixel games? And that's all on a possibility as well So far they havent shown anything that hints they're getting it
It’s not even gamefreak making the 3-D assets though. It’s all being outsourced to other companies that have no reason to up their game as they’re more or less contractors. Gamefreak artists just do concept art and the like now. There’s a reason why every game used to have different sprites for each pokemon (even in the same generation) while nowadays they use the same boring, lifeless, models that have been used since the 3-D pokedex app
Starting with the COVID lockdown, I got into making pixel art and IMMEDIATELY wanted to learn how to emulate Pokemon B/W’s style. It just looks so damn good, and I really hope I can one day make stuff that looks comparatively good.
@@AmberAmour Idk, the theme of the game is that no one way is the right way and Ghetsis being a character attempting to take advantage of people’s belief that one way is right perfectly demonstrates the dangers of such a egocentric outlook. Both Ghetsis and N show two different yet very similar negative consequences to egocentric thinking. Ghetsis shows that people who live that way are easily manipulated by those seeking power and N demonstrates how people who hold on to their beliefs as singular rights can become just as manipulative as those just seeking power. I’d say the biggest problem is that both characters don’t really get explored outside of being those singular aspects which just goes into how generally mediocre the story of the games are.
@@hephsforge9236 The problem is is that those themes get thrown at the last minute, for sake of a “plot twist”. What’s the entire notion of having truth vs ideals if your villain is going to be blatantly the “bad guy”.
bruh what internal conflict they were literally taking away other trainer’s Pokémon just because there’s a mysterious long-haired handsome(?) anime boy doesn’t mean it’s “deep” and “complex” (granted team plasma *is* a good villain team and one of the better ones but like personally I didn’t feel the internal conflict :/)
Gen4 was my first pokemon game but Gen 5 has a special place in my heart. The graphics, music, story and new pokemon, it was unique and different and I liked it. It was the first game to be able to move me so much and get me attached. It's perfect the way it is.
Yeah. Gen. 5 is the only gen that I fully enjoyed. I do like Gen. 4; more accurately with Platinum. But man. It's hard to replay nowadays because of how slow that gen is.
Gimmie gimmie, i have always loved pixel art and seeing octopath traveler for the first time just looking at the title screen and listening to the music gives me shivers, i wish i could experince that with pokemon for once.
HD-2D Pokémon with a deeper story like BW/2 had, and then hire Yasunori Nishiki as the composer, and then BOOM. For reference, he’s the guy that did Octopath’s soundtrack, and helped in One Winged Angel Rebirth for FF7R.
They stuck to the original games so basically it was the original games over again but way better graphics and much more to do im sure game freak will do better if they re lease b and w 2 for switch
There was one problem; the leveling system was wack. The combination of that and the fact that so many Unova Pokémon evolve at high levels meant that you could fight every trainer and still reach the E4 with unevolved Pokémon.
And some of those (larvesta) were basically useless until they evolve. Like, I know deino turns into a pseudo-legendary and all, but lvl 50 and 64? Really??
They did give you audinos on every route for easy EXP though atleast. Grinding on normal mons in the wild is a pain if youre not on emulator with speedup
@@Herrkaminkx These audinos r the best thing they could ever did. The only bad thing is that leveling up only through them won't give you a decent type or amount of EV's as if you're grinding on normal mons.
@@Mudboy44 Im gonna have to agree with you on that blake and whitley seriously don't have moment like Black throwing Brav to White on the battle subway
What would a Black and White 3 be about? Ghetsis has gone insane, team plasma has completely disbanded and just about every problem in the games has been resolved. Although I like the concept of bw3, I doubt it would match the story of the original 2 or feel like more than just a quick cash grab. Besides, the pokemon company doesn't like gen 5 a lot: out of all the pokemon games, it made the least overall profit because of, just like The Canipa Effect adressed, how unorthodox it was (2d games despite the strive for 3d, the new emphasis on story, etc.), which made a lot of fans misjudge it at the time.
I agree that gen 5 doesn’t need a updated remake, and honestly they are one of my favourite generations. When I’m asked about the games flaws, I find it different to name a few that aren’t ‘petty’. Yet if we were to get a remake or remaster of generation 5, I’d like a modernised remaster. The pixel art of gen 5 is so iconic so I think if they remake it, they should stick with the 2d style. As an example, octopath traveler is a gorgeous game and the pixel style is fantastic. They should take gen 5 make the pixel art much more ‘snappy’/ fluent. Add some battle backgrounds and neaten up the 3D textures, perhaps even remake the 3D textures.
they wont go back to 2d 3d is the future and you say bw dotn need remak yes it dos the gprhaic are burly when do cutseen os ues it dos need to be remade
The most ironic part was that people were telling me I was supposed to hate these games when I was younger. I'm so glad people are appreciating Generation V for what it is... A Magnum Opus.
Man I feel awful for hating gen 5 when it first came out, to be fair I was only 12 but seeing how much that has impacted the series I wish it wasn't so. Gave gen 5 a chance years ago and fell in love with the games presentation which just suited the gameplay so well. Glad to see the community slowly coming around to these games though.
Yeah same here. It wasn't until I started getting older and realized the plot is pretty damn good. The team for once had really good ideals that seemed quite realistic. If pokemon existed there would definitely be a group of people that opposed Humans capturing them. Also I really like playing through new regions using only new Pokemon.
@@Chuwie I agree except for that last point. I understand the appeal, but not including any pokemon from old generations led to 150 pokemon being designed in an unreasonable time frame. If they had've just put tauros and luvdisc in instead of bouffalant and alomola, for example, they would've had more time to develop more interesting designs for klefki, vanillish, etc.
Sheridan. But that's the point. Black & White 1 was supposed to be all newer Pokemons to full around with until poatgame. If they did bring back older Pokemons into it, than the game would be ruined. Especially since Black & White 1 was supposed to be an reboot.
They need sequels. B3W3 better happen so we can finally see N reunite with Hilda/Hilbert, reunification of original dragon via BW protag & B2W2 protags box art legendaries + im assuming B3W3 protags kyurem, The entire cast older aka Nate/Rosa as champion or Bianca as the regional professor etc.
I am so happy that Gen 5 was the first pokemon I ever played, when I was at the electronic store and asked my dad if he can buy me a new game and I choose black 2. That was back in 2015 when I was 9 Still one of my favourite games
Black and white was my Pokémon game I believe I was 8 or 9 when black and white first came out, I’m 18 now and I look back to then my childhood which imo I had the greatest childhood you could possibly have, black and white brings back those memories from the 2012 days and it gets me emotional, as of rn I’m not in a good place mentally and I really haven’t been in 5-6 years when I moved from my childhood area, but this game makes me feel happy yet kinda sad at the same time, beautiful ig.
They came out on my 20th birthday, it was great. Boyfriend and I got home, made nachos and settled into a long 3 day weekend we both took off work for. I was working at a gamestop part time so they understood lmao. Good stuff.
Been playing since Gen 1 first hit, then took a bit of a hiatus during most of Gen 4 (now ironically my favorite gen, having gone back to Platinum a little later). But Gen 5 really revitalized my love for Pokemon, probably wouldn't still be begrudgingly hoping GF does better if I didn't see what they had in them with Black and White. The fully realized world, the attention to detail (like N's speech beeps being slightly faster than normal speed), the amazing sprite art, the music, the sheer loads of content. Absolutely agree that they don't need a remake, they just need to be on modern platforms.
Gen 6 really was the most "yeah I guess that did happen" gen. But I appreciate the style of it and how they tried to more faithfully replicate the chibi character design and grid-based game world in 3D.
It does have a lot to like but it feels like you're on autopilot playing it because it's so hand holdy. S&M has that problem too but the map and characters are much more enjoyable imo
Back then I love Gen 5. I still do for it was my first game. Sure there wasn't a Pikachu in one route but I enjoyed the new and exciting pokemons around. As time goes by I didn't get BW2 unfortunately but I still wanted to play pokemon as much as possible. It was quite the craze in my school, especially for us Filipinos. Later on, I heard gen 5 was quite hated and I was so confused as to why. I won't criticize people's opinions but Gen 5 was great gen for what it was. A remake would be cool(and let's be real, there's a good chance they will do it) but just the game by it self is more of a treat for me than having a faithful 3d rendition of the original unlike one game
man it's crazy how these memories are so clear to me in 2022. memories of my kid self playing the original titles, emerald, red, soulsilver, and a bunch of other titles on a purple transparent gameboy. all the way to Black and White on my DSI. and wow... the AMOUNT of hours i had spent on that game was insane. like, i had never been blown and engrossed by a pokemon game at the time. like, ever. 7:55, along with all the spritework is absolutely the reason why i liked running around and using the bicycle so fucking much. i really don't understand how they pulled off such a perfect pokemon game, down to the fucking music as well. everything just comes together like intended, and really immerses you. i also think that was the last pokemon game i had ever played until 2017 (i bought pokken tournament on my wii u that year and loved it.) i had known about black and white 2 and saw it on TV commercials often, but i never really had any motivation to get it. little kid me thought it would be just the same game, but with a 2 behind it lol. i was not impressed by the title at all. sad fact is, i missed out :T either way, i grew out of pokemon after a banger game so i never complained. my time with the franchise was satisfying and im glad that i dont have to put up with the mediocrity they're releasing now lol. it's in 2013 where i realized i began growing out of pokemon entirely. in elementary we had a "fun" day of some sorts, where everyone's allowed to take their videogames and board games to school. i saw a kid playing with his 3DS and noticed he was playing pokemon. i asked him what game it was, and he said "pokemon x & y" and i never looked so disinterested in my life. lmao. im surprised the 3D turned me off as a kid. i never had issues with 3D at all but x & y just didnt capture my attention as much as B&W did.
‘Huh why does N sound a LOT like professor Oak?’ ‘OH SNAP IT’S REALLY HIM’ Aww, that message of support from him at the end was so sweet. Great video, never really thought about pixel art like this before!
no way 😭 i read the first half of your title “Pokemon Black and White Don’t Need a Remake” and said to myself exactly this, “yeah sure they’re already perfect but i’d like to play them again” and clicked on your video to see your title say the same thing (they’re already perfect)
Gen 5 really was amazing all around, showing how far the team had come in everything. While Pokemon is bound to still keep moving forward with their current direction, it'd be nice if we could get some side games that retained the pixel art form, allowing for more creative freedom since they are not mainline. I'd love to see a B3W3 done like this.
I would love if they made a conquest 2 and improved on the art style from the original cause it was so well done. And like you said it being a side game they would have a lot of creative freedom
I agree that b3w3 would be amazing. since b2w2 are sequels and not enhanced versions I think it’s kind of weird if they only remade bw1. I think they should go with bw3 with the original kyurem that was once one pokemon with reshiram and zekrom
Sad thing is, BW do need a remake bc they're only playable on rly old consoles and the games aren't completable bc all the online shit is cut off so like You can't even get the whole experience now
I remember seeing black and white gameplay as a kid and being so excited seeing all the pokemon moving. I literally spent days watching let's plays in youtube just to see those moving pixel art. Truly an amazing era.
I was expecting a video simply praising Gen 5 for being good, and while it did that, I also got an informative video overview of the design philosophies and talent that was driving Game Freak for years. Nice work!
I remember as a kid playing Black/Black 2 as a kid and thinking that I'd never be able to get over how it looked, and with recent games I really miss pixel art from big companies. Sadly, it'll probably be stuck to indies for the most part. Maybe the awful Diamond/Pearl remakes will do poorly and then for B/W they decide to take a risk and go back to pixel art? Or maybe I'm just being too optimistic for a cast of nearly 1000 unique pokemon.
I 100% agree that BW and BW2 are perfect and beautiful games as they are! They have such a special place in my heart. But I also really want to visit Unova again with fresh eyes and a new story so I can fall in love with it all over again.
My dream gen 5 remakes would be a collection like black and black 2 And another collection with the whites and in both there would be pokemon gray or pokemon legends kyurem (i need the og dragon)
It would be really cool if gamefreak mixes bw and bw2. Like the story is bw's story and added bw2 content and maybe make the protagonist different in each pokemon versions like in black you play as hilda and hilbert while in white you play as rosa and nate.
Still, having a BW2 remake would be nice as i get to see my girl Rosa in 3D again, with some additions to her personality like what Masters did. Such a precious girl
Yes, but... In exchange, the world will be more dull and lifeless than ever, and the exp share will be automatic. Hm. Maybe then people will stop whining about the pokemon taking eons to evolve? Nevermind. Let it happen.
7:20 There was 1 part of hardware that was improved that they took massive advantage of and that is increased cartridge size. BW has 4 times the size of DP.
Oh this was an excellent video. Haven't seen your stuff before, but got some more insight into the inner going ons and develoers @ gamefreak. Also, i've been developing games for a solid 4 years at this point. And i have had plans to make an rpg of sorts in the style of the DS pokémon games. Mostly DPPt, but they are actually set in a 3D enviroment. Been sudying what makes the artistic style of DPPt, what it is. Also, from what i have seen of trends in the indie scene, im confident that DS style graphics will have a burst of popularity sometime in the future, like with the PS1 graphics craze rn, that seems to be establishing itself as an artistic style like how pixelart has.
My last Pokemon game was Soul Silver, the one _just before_ Black and White 😭 I'd kill to have a Switch port of that game, not even a remake or anything.
The fifth generation has great music and stories. That's why I want you to make a new remake. I want to adventure in 3D, which is no longer an orchestral music or pixel art.
As my first Pokémon game, I can say without bias that THIS is the best game in the series. Amazing sprite work, fluid gameplay on the new DS, revamped and redone mechanics that brought new life into the games, and a roster of unforgettable new Pokémon that will most likely stick with me throughout my whole life. It’s crazy to think there were and still are critics of this generation and it’s games.
I've started to wonder if paert of the reason that unova pokemon got so much hate was because you weren't allowed to use pre-gen 5 pokemon. If there'd been older pokemon available from the start, trubbish and vanillite would have gotten a few chuckles but they probably wouldn't have even gotten half as much attention.
@@howai4204 To be fair, Gen 1 is fanboyed over purely because of nostalgia. Gen 5, on the other hand, actually has value outside of nostalgia. Out of all the Gens, Gen 5 has the most innovation, improvements, and creativity by far. And in terms of difficulty, it struck a nice balance between challenge and accessibility, something that the other games in the series didn’t really capture outside of HGSS.
BooBomber. Yeah. I agree. There's even some Gen. 4 fanboys; more accurately with Platinum, that still claims it to be the best Pokemon game than the others. And I mean, there's alot of them. Like I do think Gen. 4 is solid. But I can't say it's the quote on quote " ultimate " Pokemon game.
Gen V may not be my absolute favorite (I'm just too biased toward Gen IV and to a lesser extent III, the generations of my elementary school years, sorry) but I will say that Black and White were the first and only Pokemon games to blow my mind with the graphics. Nothing Pokemon related in the decade since has made me feel that way, which is a shame. A return to 2D would be amazing.
I used to think like that Gen 4 gave me my favorite pokemon My favorite legendary Many good moments and plenty to do But after forcing myself to let go of nostalgia and look back on the games in comparison Black and white/2 blow gen 4 out of the water Side games are debatable tho
I always liked Gen. 4 more as well. But after replaying Gen. 5 so many times and went back on playing Platinum again, the glaring effects of that Gen holds me back on replaying it sometimes. From how slow the game was, through so much HM requirements and while I appreciated the challenge, the difficulty spikes does get an little but obnoxious at the end of the Pokemon League. Also while I do like the new evolution; especially for older Pokemon that needed some buffs, there are so many ridiculous evolution gimmick that is kinda dreadful and overboard with the way they evolved the Pokemon. Still, I respect Gen. 4 for what it does to the franchise and while it ain't my favorite Pokémon game anymore, it's still solid to at least give it alot of appreciations for getting people back into the series.
Oh buddy, you really just said EXACTLY what I've been thinking for so long now!! Seeing them do a Pokemon game in the Octopath style has literally been a dream of mine ever since that Pokemon trailer dropped (seen at 16:26) and I realized they could totally pull it off. I'm still gonna hold out hope that we'll see something like that one day, even if it's in a fangame or something.
i don't want remakes, but i would absolutely ADORE ports for the Switch. like a Black + Black2 Collection and White + White2 Collection. i'd pay $60 for that. even if there's no new content.
I was just replaying these for the first time since I originally played them 10 years ago, B2W2 are easily my favorite games right next to platinum. I remember how attached I got to my team in BW, they're the only team I still remember all 6 members of, I can't name any other team I've had since then even the most recent one in Sword/Shield. (If you're curious it was Samurott, Swanna, Watchog, Cofagrigus, Gothitelle, and Leavanny)
10:45 -11:00 I teared up. I completed my first ever Nuzlocke from White a while ago, and standing with my partner Smug Leaf (Serperior) while looking at N with that speech, I balled hard. Godly video man, keep up the excellent work!
well personally i kinda wanted a remake of black and white where u can either go thought one side of region or another or just be to get one gym badge in humilau city then icirrus city but seeing how the games been so far ya they been fun to me but ill just stick to a re-masted of these games
I love black and white, easily my favorite gen but I can't help and be a bit spiteful at the fact that years after the fandom finally is singing it it's praises. I remember people not liking it as much when it first came out. Most of my friends upright disliked it and prefered x and y because apperantly, 3d graphics made the game a better experience. I remember a lot of "poketubers" didn't like it either. It's bizarre but also nice to see people coming around on these titles. I wonder if it's because of insatisfaction with more recent mainline titles.
@@spider-mancantsee5875 Oh, I'm glad people are showing appretiation for these games now. It would've been better if that was the case back when they came out (considering how much work and content was put into them yet they are of the main title games that least sold at release). I guess part of my said "spite" comes from how I've encontered people that make it seem like the fandom at large have appretiate the game from the beggining when that's just not the case.
I guess probably it's because due to how people have more nostalgia towards Gen. 4; especially with Platinum & HGSS that many fans considered them to be the best Pokemon games, that people didn't give Gen. 5 an try and even when they did, they felt it was inferior to it's predecessor. I'm one of the few that things Gen. 5 is better than Gen. 4. Not saying Gen. 4 is bad. But I don't agree it's the best one when they have some severe flaws.
Pokémon Black and Black 2 were some of my first pkmn games. Still remember them dearly and replaying B2 to this day. Idk what it is, but there's something about these games that's just so special; the sprites, the battles, the graphics, the story... Even Pokewood was a great part of the game, not obligatory, but very entertaining.
I enjoyed gen 6 and 7 but gen 8 is absolute garbage! Gimped pokedex even though they could've included everyone and instead lock it behind dlc and pokemon home, The worst online, Linear region, reused assets since gen 6, and overall way too easy! So no I don't hate the 3DS games but the quality of Pokemon has gone downhill big time! But hey thats just my opinion!
Anyone who asked for a remake must be slapped and whipped until they submit the will of the true believers. Remake must not be carry in Gen 5 and shall remain the same.
Pixel art is just so cozy and charming. Even the psychological horror game OMORI uses it to lul its players into a false sense of comfort and safety, before presenting its scarier moments and close-ups as uncomfortably realistic JPEGs. Pixel art is imo the best medium for games that are character-driven or story heavy, and it's a shame pokemon doesn't want to utilise it anymore. I'm so glad they threw all their best efforts into their final pixel-art projects of BW and BW2. They still hold up as my favourite video games all these years on- and that's as an avid gamer
While I don't mind the new art direction, the sprite art progression/direction made pokemon so cool and expressive. I really do miss it and I don't see why the direction really went 3d.
Y’know, I think you’re right. Pokémon Black and White were solid games, Team Plasma was sick(and the music was incredible), N was and still is an incredible rival and villain, and we got a solid game and story. This game was awesome, and I don’t know if we need a remaster.
If they do make A remake I would like them to reference rhe manga where Hilbert was a cop and hilda was a platinum member. They can get away with it since their canonically adults (16 bw & 18 bw2)
I was incredibly ahead of my time, I remember being extremely disappointed when we didn’t get gen 3 remakes in gen 5 art style. And being even more disappointed in a 3D Pokémon game in X and Y….
Love the video! I feel the same way about the mystery dungeon games as well - the first two games, especially explorers of sky, have something very special about both the pixel art style and the animation that the 3D ones just can't convey. I appreciate them keeping the sound effects, music and other small details for the rescue games remake, but the new art style just can't compare imo.
