I think the fairy types were overall the most creative; not too reliant on using tropes!

It really helps that Fairy types can be cute creatures, helpful creatures, healer creatures, candy or sweets, or based off real world mythological creatures called fairies or for some reason bugs whose life stories resemble fairytales (the Cutiefly line)

You could make the same argument for at least like 20-30% of the official rock-type Pokémon. There’s very little variation you can do with rock…

@@KleinesStein But the official ones aren't all grey at least. Avalugg is made of permafrost, Coalossal is coal, Probopass is made of iron. And Minior breaks the trope of them all just being jagged rocks. He could do like a fossil pokemon too, all of them are rock types, except for the Galar ones.

@@HiperPivociarz all of the ones you mentioned are dual types that specifically get inspiration from half of their typing. Of course it’s going to look plain when you only get flat rock type with no dual typing. Now, there are some pure rock types that do look unique like the nacli, lycanrock, and Klawf lines, but for visual clarity nacli is probably the only one of the three that actually look like rock types from a glance. You can’t do fossil Pokémon either cuz those are uniquely based on primitive animals, which you would then have to explain. A good garlic drawing of this should be readable from a glance

@@pacowallochenkenrick What kind of person doesn't have an at least cursory knowledge of prehistoric animals? Also, Roggenrola is a pure Rock type, and it's still a different color than just grey. Also, the heck you mean, Ross and the others alrrady have to explain some of their ideas anyway!

I very much agree!! It was awful, when normally I’m sure it would have been fine if the audio was much lower! She drowned out everyone else and I had to grit my teeth whenever she did that :(
