Not sure why? Look at Bitcoin once it hit ETFs. If someone were to start a collectibles ETF including TCGs, I think that would only increase the price of our cards.

@Brandonhart100 that's kind of a strange comparison because if an etf sells off they are obligated to dump onto the own market. There's plenty of people who would cash out of btc at 60k, but are there an endless supply of buyers of btc at 60k? What goes up easily is apt to come tumbling down

@@ponchoking55 the comparison is simply one of supply and demand with demand increasing if an additional buyer, mainstream ETFs, entered the market. It's less about the actual asset I was mentioning in the example.

@Brandonhart100 well a Poke etf wouldn't really be practical either. The main benefit of collectibles is that it's physical, you don't hold it you don't own it type deal. An ETF for pokemon would seem too shady for anyone to take it seriously. Furthermore, an ETF would only spell disaster during bear markets due to its flywheel effect going against you

@@ponchoking55 I would love to see how things playout 2-3 years from now. Pokemon TCG as a hobby is back to normal but the "investing" drive is still very high. It seems the folks coming in are still out numbering folks leaving the TCG and it continues to fuel the "investing" aspect. I honestly thought most people would have "quit" the investing by now but I was completely wrong.

Love the video Alex excellent inside scoop from what people whom have a ton of money are doing from other markets entering into the pokemon & other collectible space to park money in these assets very valid points which people will still ridicule or not believe is sustainable !

I agree with another commenter who said true Wall Street interest could be a sell signal. Many investors in Pokémon are also collectors and reflect the general interest in the hobby. I think if it ever went truly mainstream in the investment community you would suddenly have a lot of speculative positions that could cause a bubble and cause the actual collecting community to become frustrated and lose interest while also creating artificial price growth. That being said, I think it’s definitely a viable alternative asset and a fun way to invest for those in the hobby.

Hi Alex, another great video from you. I hope you continue because you are an asset to all of us. I have a quick question and hope you can help me: I bought a case from LO, AR & ST. I opened LO's case to make sure everything was undamaged, which was stupid (I hope I can still sell the individual displays for a profit in the future). :-( I still have a little money left and actually wanted to invest in Paldea Evolved (currently very cheap) but I'm afraid I'll regret not buying more overpriced products (LO) because the era was unique and will rise sharply in value . Do you have any advice for me to detach myself from the thought of missing out?

Thank a lot i really appreciate that. You will be fine. Sure there are sometimes sealed case premiums but the boxes themselves can be more liquid and keep up close to a sealed case so you will be fine. No worries there. If i personally was choosing i would buy LO and Brilliant Stars on Pokemon Center at the current prices. It just seems like such an obvious play. Also, Paldea is a great set and i think it will do very well but it is still early in SV and we could see that get reprinted still. LO is definitely a safer bet.

I honestly don't knwo what to think about it. I don't think there is a reason to fomo into those sets though. Reprints could hit at any time and they could return to in stock too. It is very odd to see that happen though.

I'm curious about your view on USA vs Europe (I'm from Belgium/The Netherlands) regarding pokemon investing. I really feel like the difference is quite big. Buying/selling booster boxes for example doesnt feel like the no brainer compared to your scene.

On super high level, I think the US is a leading market like in almost all asset classes, and EU would follow. All in all, I think it’s not too far off from each other except that we’re a smaller market, and get different supply & products

The scale is probably a big factor, I can see that. When you talk with people about buying/selling everyone advises to just stick to your own country, and that really limits reach and probably makes it feel way harder. Can imagine its not like that cross States in the US.

"Trading Cards" is a broad term. I think most high rollers or investers will probably go into the sports cards before they go into Pokemon, Yugioh, One Piece etc..

You are missing the point. This means they are expecting more and more people to continue to pour into these hobbies. As a sealed product investor the more collectors that enter and want the cards and want to grade them the less sealed product and more scarce and valuable it becomes. Read between the lines.

Diversification is key. Its why I have silver, gold, crypto, ordinals and went heavy into sealed modern and slabs. I have been called an idiot all my life and nearly everything Ive touched has went parabolic. Of course theres sone losses. But long term holding has been key as my winners have GREATLY outshined any losses. Not a genius either far from it. But im no longer a wage slave and that freedom is priceless Yes i have stonks too

I understand it's the cool thing to be bearish but outside of the small subsect of Negative Pokemon channels people are very positive of the future value of this stuff and moving millions into it.

It will definitely become more important to make sure you get low entry points. But if they are gonna buy it up they will have to buy it from someone.
