Well vultures are known to target vulnerable prey. An orphan hanging around its mothers carcass seems like an easy target

Mandibuzz is based on a specific vulture that drops its prey from the Air to break its bones, so I like to think mandibuzz also does that

Fun fact, when Carbink does an SOS call for help in Gen 7, there’s a chance Sableye will appear, which will attack the carbink instead of your Pokémon. Corsola and Mareanie also have this interaction.

It’s also funny how Sabeleye and Gabite have beef because Gabite actually hoards and protects Carbink because it likes collecting gems, meanwhile Sableye is trying to eat them.

Speaking of that one Sableye entry: it also specifies that Gabite almost always grab the Carbink first

So we just gonna ignore Golisopod and Grapplockt being strictly "on sight" with each other and the loser gets eaten.

I find it hilarious that Sableye eat Carbink, but Carbink are actually resistant to dark and would be super effective against it with its fairy typing. Sableye has to be a good hunter or something to even be successful

In Alola, Yungoos was sent into the region to combat the rattata population, but the Rattatas became nocturnal, and not the Yungoos, which leaves Yungoos, a hungry creature, alone with Pichus, Eevees, and other little guys, then they just hunt those.

Cubone lore gets darker with every generation 😢

I really appreciate these kinds of pokedex entries showing there’s a clear predator and prey relationship in the Pokémon world which makes it feel that much more alive.

The gen 7 pokedex was brutal

Weavile is terrifying according to the Pokedex- Vulpix and Sandshrew are listed in their Moon entry as prey- with mention of splitting them amongst the group, Ultra Sun specifically describes HOW they take down a Sandshrew and the Sword entry mentioning that a group of them are smart/strong enough to take down a Mamoswine.

I find it even funnier that in Gen 6 the place you find Carbink is also the same place you find Sabeleye. As a kid you don't think anything of it, as an adult, it's much more dark and realistic, a predator hunting it's prey in the caves.

In the ultra games, Wild Carbinks have a chance to call in a Sableye in Sos battles. Needless to say, poor thing then gets double teamed by the player and the sableye lol.

Don't forget heatmor and durant! Heatmor literally melts the Durant in their iron exoskeleton and slurps it up like tf?

In gen 7, the only way to get sableye is through carbink SOS battles, when carbink accidentally calls sableye and the sableye attacks carbink instead of your pokemon. Same thing happens with marenie which only spawns in corsola SOS battles.

Kabutops slices you open and drinks your internal fluids and leaves the rest for other Pokémon to eat…. That’s extremely savage

Don't forget Victreebell, who just swallows them whole after luring them in with their sweet scent.

I love when the pokedex has these entries. It makes the Pokémon world more believable with all these interactions. It would be really cool to see these interactions affecting your team in game, for example if you have a mandibuzz and a cubone in your team your cubone friendship should go down while mandibuzz up or something like that.

Ooo, fun fact about my favorite pokemons method of killing prey!:D Malamar hypnotizes its prey in order to kill it and eat it.

Its quite ironic that Sableye is a predator to Carbink despite the fact that their only weakness is the Fairy type.

No one ever talks about how several dex entries indicate to Metagross being a terrifying predator. Using its high intellect to outsmart its prey and then immobilising them with its bulk and claws.

Imagine your predators being a Ghost-Dark type and Ground-Dragon type. What type are you? Rock-Fairy.

About Sableye: Because of the eating Rocks description and the fact that Geodude and Aron lived in the cave where you encounter it for the first time, I've always thought that Aron got that Iron Shell to protect itself from Sableye, which means Geodude is on the Menu. These Teeth are definitely NOT for a stone eating Herbivore, they are the teeth of a Predator( not the Alien one)

The sableye/carbink thing is also in scarlet/violet. When you reach the deepest part of Area Zero (during the indigo mask) whenever you see a carbink it’s almost always a sableye around it

fun fact when a carbink has no where to run against its predetors for eg sabeleye, it will actually shoot out lazers from its gems which are known to be very deadly and can kill its predetor. USUM has some dark entries

Just so you know a lot of sea-dwelling animals that can also go on land loved it's actually a really good strategy to drag your prey into an area that they cannot you know be well in like a shark dragging a deer into water it's going to DIE

I'd like to clear one thing up: Although the pokedex says otherwise, Cubone isn't really wearing its mother's skull. Breeding proves this dex entry to be false. It already has the skull on when it hatches, and the mother's people used are very much alive. Unless they were deleted with the save files. Besides, I don't think it possible for multiple Cubone with the same mother to all wear her skull, especially if the mother is a Ditto. This proves it wrong. The devs put that in to make people love it out of sorrow, or pity, or whatever you'd call it. It's not true.

If Sableye(s) eat Carbink(s) which is made up of rocks and gems, and Diancie is a princess made of Pink Diamonds, and knowing that diamonds are a type of valuable gems, as well as the fact that Diancie is also a Diamond Waifu; does that mean that Sableye(s) can eat Diancie?

sableye's attacks Carbink in the games too. If a wounded carbink uses the "calls for help" mechanic. a sableye might appear instead of a carbink backup. Sableye will avoid attacking the player and will attack carbink to attempt to eat it.

It was stated for Metagross, at least in the Platinum Dex entry, that it crushes its prey to death with its immense weight. Naturally, it was given Heavy Slam later in the series.
