Hi Professor Silver. I am brand new to the channel. Pokémon is my favorite franchise so I’ve liked and subscribed. I’ll be binging these videos to get caught up on your lectures and I’ll attend your office hours to share future ideas lol. Hopefully we will talk soon!
I think the problem is the fact that gen 1 and frlg were before the physical special split cause Kingler was definitely a pokemon who benefited from the physical special split
@@ProfessorAlexSilver and in competitive though it was bad in gen 6 gen 7 blessed it with liquidation and it was banned from PU to have used where it was pretty good. This continued in gen 8 and at the start it was great in nu though it fell down to PUBL due powercreep but still can be often seen in nu
@@LegendaryCaptain surprisingly enough, Kingler’s peak in Smogon singles actually was in Gen 1. It held a niche because of its huge attack stat and Swords Dance, making it the strongest physical booster in a metagame that was more specially bulky, firing off monstrous Body Slams and Hyper Beams. It had Crabhammer to destroy Rhydon and crucially 3HKO a Snorlax who had used Reflect, meaning that Kingler could force out a sleeping Snorlax. It was a hard Pokémon to fit on a team and really needed paralysis support to function at its peak, but it had some of the highest upside of any non-OU Pokémon in OU.
Of course, but it’s a really slow glass cannon, so you have to hope it can somehow survive the opponent’s initial assault which really isn’t fun because there are a lot of powerful electric and grass type moves that can end Kingler in a second
I always loved Ash's Kingler, it's a big part of the reason as to why Kingler's still one of my favourite Pokémon to this day. Hope he brings it back someday!
Here is a thought. When ash found crabby there was not a single pokémon around it. Literally it had a big chunk of the beach all to itself, my guess even tho it was a low level pokémon it was still super powerful. Like I imadgin if eny pokémon was near by they would be in level 4 while crabby probably was 8 or 9. I asume that crabby had fought the right over this whole beach to itself by eny low level poker in its teretory, which adding that crabby Gaines pp with profesor oak, I asume being with him as they read poetry and drank tea he learned to focus and gain a hige bost. I would argue if with enough training it would be intelligent enough to learn a psychic move
I member back in the days, seismic toss and hyper beam were THE finishing moves. When I watched Kingler do hyper beam I was like "yup Squirtle is done, he is 2nd strongest water pokemon now"
The series does seem to dump pokemon once they reach their finale stage, with the exception of Charzard who was technically released but came back, when Ash gets a pokemon to their finale Evolution he'll release them or store them forever.
if Team Rocket were ruining the match and if actual people saw that Ash was clearly not fully prepared, maybe he would have one to Richie. Hell, he might have switched Charizard for someone else, like Kingler or Muk, both MVPs of the Indigo League. than again~ i guess the anime didn't want to make Ash just win cause he's the protag.
Kingler's battle against Mandi's team was one of my favourite pkmn battles ever. Krabby had been shown to be puny and weak, it had no experience, and it's foe had every advantage over it, making it a major underdog. But it still pulled off an upset victory, and then it evolved into a powerhouse strong enough to wipe out the rest of the team in a clean sweep. Ever since then Kingler's been one of my favourites.
Ash Ketchum did a large mistake was that he chose Charizard ( who was not even following his commands at that time ) instead of kingler, muk or tauros .
@@johnconnor7501 if people watched up until that point they would, especially considering most fans prefer ash's actual loyal pokemon over the kanto era charizard
People seem to forget Team Rocket captured him earlier. He may not have had everyone on him, annd by the time he got to the stadium he had no time to switch out his team.
@@ProfessorAlexSilver yeah absolutely Ash should have used Kingler more. Such an amazing pokémon with attacks like leer attack, bubble attack, watergun, crab hammer, hyper beam and many more
Oak's lab pretty much functions as a Pokémon Day Care. Krabby's level was already high before fighting Mandy. That's why it evolved after winning against only one powerful Pokémon
[1] Kingler (not necessarily Ash's) should get a Mega retrofitted from it G-Max form [2] I wouldn't be surprised if Ash's Kingler got into Oak's Candy and Vitamin storage (Protein, Iron, Zinc and carbos); and they did spend some time in Celadon City, and caught it near Bill's place.
I actually see kingler becoming one of oaks closest buddies because it loves to drink tea and listening to oaks poetry and even helping him sometimes. So I like to imadgin him relaxing with him and ash's team
@@espenbuhaugsveinungsen i kinda hate that most of kanto got a close relation with oak, seem like a forced plot (just like bulbasaur, which I’m sure is ash favorite Pokémon ever)
I loved how krabby cuts ashes stick. Foreshadowing he was a menace. We thought he wasn’t bout that life when Gary’s was crazy big lol. Krabby evolving, having hyper beam and pulling off 1v3 in his first battle was just incredible. Till this day (if I had a Pokémon game) I would find a way to get a kingler in my squad.
Yeah... i would love that too Squirtle is my second favorite Water Starter and seeing how it got so shafted in the anime (and being nowadays the REAL underrated gen 1 starter) it would be awesome it would get a Major Buff...
Had Ash used kingler against Ritchie, then the indigo league would've played out much differently. Also perhaps totodile could be the subject in a future video.
I used to think that all of Ash's matches were all won because of luck, but after we battled in the Pokémon league my respect cemented for him and his team.
Kinglers quite the heavy hitter id like to hear them elaborate more if he gets more screen time then they could reveal him having the ability sheer force
I remember enjoying kingler in the series. That thing was a beast. This made me use Kingler in half of my journey in heartgold. it was super viable in the early stages of the game
I came across this guy from a recent video, and his explanation was so great that I am now stalking his videos and watching all of them. Amazing work here.
Do Magikarp. You don't get described in the Pokedex as "It is virtually worthless in terms of both power and speed. It is the most weak and pathetic Pokémon in the world." unless you truly earn it!!!
Just found your channel and boy am I glad I have. I've watched your primeape and kingler video and so far I LOVE absolutely loved them both! Keep up the great work! You've earned a new and loyal subscriber 😁!
Krabby did awesome against the Exeggutor, and its evolved form Kingler was an awesome battler. The Pokemon shares something with Mr. Krabs, both are crabs.
I wonder why Ash did not nickname his crab Pokamon, he could have nicknamed it Mr. Krabs or Sebastian (both references to Spongebob's boss in Spongebob Squarepants and Ariel's crab friend in Little Mermaid)
I like to think Garys krabby is a female and since it was the 90s therefore a low key embarrassment shot at Gary's lack of intellectual as a trainer. Gary - "Ooooooo see Ash mines SO much BIGGER then YOURS, so therefore hes SOOO MUCH STRONGER!" Oak - "Oh great catch Gary, shes a beaut!" Gary - "😮😢" Oak - "and as you can see here by the claw texture, I'd judge her current power level to be about 60.." Gary - "hahaha ya smell that As-" Oak - "..levels under Ash's" Gary - "🥺"
I don't blame Kingler for its losses. Both were on Ash. He over-tired Kingler, and should have realized going for Psyduck's head was a bad idea. If Ash was a bit smarter Kingler could have been Ash's only undefeated Pokemon.
They did Kingler dirty Come on if your gonna make it win can’t it appear oh I don’t know maybe at the Johto and Sinnoh League where it battles It could’ve even came back for the Battle Frontier
I always find it strange why ash no offense had his weak nom evolved pokemon always fighting instead of his fully evolved ones in battle that was basically a huge mistake in the indigo league so was the johto Ines as well it's like they basically set him up for failure
