they started us with wild areas in swsh, then semi open world for arceus, and now, FINALLY a full open world pokemon game we have wanted for so long. They were for sure testing the waters the past 3 years

They have. They wanted to see if arceus was a flop or not. And it wasn’t. If it was a flop they still would of done it but they knew that it wasn’t going to be popular. It just maybe one of the most popular games due to it look pretty good open world and the starters and the city/ town looks great. So it may just be a good Pokemon game.

We thought Legends Arceus was fully open world too based on initial footage. Until we've got actual gameplay footage I am not expecting anything. Not to be so much a downer just trying to be realistic.

The official site describes these games as open-world multiple times, a term they avoided using for Arceus, so it's basically taking the Arceus design and expanding it out to fully cohesive world.

I love how the progression toward this has been right in our faces, but it's still a surprise to many! SwSh were clearly testing the waters a bit with open areas, then Arceus being not quite open-world, and now we're going fully open-world. We've finally reached the Pokemon game fans have dreamed of for decades! I was imagining a game like this back when Pokemon Snap first came out, before open-world games were even a thing.

@@wintersong2266 Gen 5 was literally the best pokemon games besides HG/SS this was THE peak of Pokemon... I support the Dex cut because SW/SH were able to make an actual believable region filled with pokemon interacting as more alive then they ever were. They were pretty interesting with the DLC. Playing with pokemon like that really made me feel like these 6 pokemon were like family.

I'm glad Japanese reactions were added especially because it includes the Japanese logos. In gens 6 and 7 the Japanese logos hinted at that gens gimmick. X/Y had the mega icon, Sun/Moon had Z crystals and now Scarlet and Violet have stars, I can only imagine what it means
