Honestly his Colosseum medley is arguably the definitive version of this soundtrack, it's so good yet still stays so faithful to the original. Something I tried to emulate in my hack hahah. I am setting up the patch right now and SO SO excited to play. Colosseum is my favourite pokemon game of all time, but it doesn't have much replay value because there are so few pokemon options and the movepools and lack of physical/special split makes majority of the mons not really useable. Super excited to get to play a modern version that's not super easy! Thank you so much for putting in all of this work!

Thanks for this amazing mod! I just started playing it this weekend and am having fun in Pyrite City (about to tackle Mirror B's lair). I gotta admit it is VERY brutal compared to vanilla Colosseum (and that was already a bit tough). Espeon continues to be the glassiest of cannons and almost always is at risk of being 1-2 shot (moreso than the original), but the strategies available with the new shadows make up for it. I find paralyzing and confusing opponents is key to buying time in these gauntlet-like battles (especially when catching Shadow Pokemon). I never had to work so hard before to survive and it is genuinely exciting.
I played Colosseum when I was wayyyy young and didn't care for it allllll that much tbh, but found XD after it and was so absolutely in love with that game, I always meant to give Colosseum another chance. Thanks for giving me a reason to!
My favorite pokemon game of all time has and will always be Pokemon Coloseum. From the story to the battle system to the design. And of course because it has the most fashionable, charismatic, and entertaining villain of any game, the chad that is Miror B.! That being said, after playing it a few hundred times it gets old. You know where everything is, you know when shadow pokemon come up, and you sort of... Just know it. It's fun still, yeah, but it gets less special every time. It'll never feel like your first run. That was until I found this was a thing today. Thank you for all the hard work to make something so awesome! It feels like when I was a kid and first saw this game on the shelf at a blockbuster! I can't want to try it! Thank you!
I just completed my 2nd nuzlocke ever on Brilliant Diamond and was curios on the rom hacks that be out nowadays and I will say this brought joy to my heart to see practically a remastered version of 1 of my 2 favorite Pokémon games (the other being XD) I will definitely be giving this a shot for a nuzlocke but for my first playthrough I plan to just relax and enjoy the new challenge again thank you for all the effort you put into this hope to see more in the soon future

Very cool! XD was my childhood game to go and I absolutely loved it. Although about one year ago, after I have just finished replaying XD, I remembered seeing Pyritus but from below. (The under). Googling this brought me to Colosseum. I played it afterwards, finally realising it is the precedecor of XD. Colosseum is more mature, well a bit more unpolished but nonetheless packed with a great storyline, has - just like XD - unique and to this day untouched animations. Genius sonority did a wonderful job here.. Several months have passed now since I finished Colosseum and now your video got in my recommendations. I absolutely love what you did here and the music is awesome as well. I think those two are to this day the best Pkmn games to have ever existed.
Lets hope they will come with a real remake, but until that time lets play this! Looks awesome! Just set it up today on my steam deck and works great! Enjoying it so far!
Currently replaying through XD and definitely super excited to play this after I’m done with that playthrough. Colosseum is one of my favorite Pokemon games ever but replaying always felt a bit of a slog since your choice in Pokemon was so limited (especially in the beginning), something I felt they largely fixed in XD. Super excited to play this now seeing the greater diversity of Pokemon and quality of life changes added.
This is cool It reminds me of why I now have a Mac Mini, an iPad and an iPhone. It all started with trying to mod the pal version of the game so that the girl has the original Japanese model. I found some modding tools but they were for Mac, so I built a hackintosh. I spent a couple of weeks to get it in a stable condition. I was amazed with the performance i got from literal trash (thrown away parts) and decided to build another one. It worked pretty much out of the box and I was quite happy. Since I now dipped my toes in the Apple pool, I jumped straight in and got myself some real apple devices. Now I’m here, remembering why I did all that in the first place. I never even tried to run that modding software. And I probably never will. Glad others do more serious stuff in that field. Absolutely love colosseum. Keep up the great work. Side note: I guess the physical/special split makes sense, but I kinda hate that it nerfed hyperbeam on my gyarados
So due to a quirk of how the game recognises shadows I'm only able to replace existing ones, but there is a mix of mons from the original as well as new ones I considered interesting enough to add
Thanks I hope you have fun! I'm afraid not unfortunately, one issue the game has is unlike XD I'm still locked to having only 48 shadow pokemon. The only option you'd have is to patch multiple versions with the three patches, and then changing to whichever version you want for each encounter if that makes sense? Would lock you out of getting that version's starter/legendary however.
@@KyaColosseum Oh, I was wondering about the three patches. I wasn't sure exactly what I was doing (first time using UPS patches and using mods in general). I actually forced all 3 patches onto my ISO. Did I do that wrong? So I ran into the Kanto starters for the colored trio but have also ran into Wiscash and Ariados. Did all patches load on top of each other or did one take priority? I'm just a little confused on the way patches work here.
The person who made that hack (stars) helped make the editing tools that made most of this possible. If you've had the chance to try Grand I hope you enjoyed it!
I really enjoy this so far. I like all the quality of life changes and I also like the different shadow pokemon to keep the game fresh. However is there a way to keep the original types? I get changing Pokemon to Fary if they become it in X and Y but I don't like how Furret is a Ground type now or Misdrevus is Fary when they never changed types Outside that keep up the good work!
Thats been my only complaint, it's weird when you go to hit a pokemon with something you /know/ should be super effective, but then that pokemon just shrugs it off because it has some weird new typing.
Or on the flip side, I remember my Furret getting hit by an electric type move and looking confused at my screen that nothing happened. I had to check and was confused when it said it was ground. I tried to play a bit more but I just couldn't because it always felt like a guessing game.
A few people have actually managed it yeah! Though it's allowing all encounters but with only 1 catch chance for each, rather than 1 per area as that seems pretty impossible hahah
A suggestion... Maybe adding Foul Play and giving it to Umbreon? I'm not sure if that move CAN be added but, since that was never stated in suggesting. That would make Umbreon waaaaay better to play as. Specially if possible to Swagger + Foul Play. IF not the case... what about making a version where his stat spread is: 95 > 130 65 > 95 110 > 65 60 > 60 130 > 110 65 > 65 This way he stays bulky and we get to use him offensively a bit better. I know he isn't offensive in nature but with this build he would become a better tank in most cases /a few; more offensive; better wish passer.

As someone who has never played the original Colosseum is this worth playing first? Or should I get the default colosseum experience first? I'm considering in going for the hoenn version since hoenn is my favorite region.
It's entirely up to you! If you have any Pokemon experience I'd probably recommend going with Grand tbh, as I tried to stay true to the original whilst adding a lot more Pokemon variety and challenge. Hope you have fun either way!

Which Region should I play if I have never played this game before? Are only the Starters different or are all the available Pokemon locked away when choosing one region over the others?
One thing I am curious about, is it possible that there is mixing of generations in the future? Example, have hoen fire starter, kanto grass starter, and johto water starter?
Hey! It's possible now with the tools that exist, however it would require making even more download versions for people and think it could get a bit confusing. The tools are quite user friendly however so if you want to do it yourself then just hop onto the discord and we'll be more than happy to help you out
I’m wanting to make a complete overhaul rom hack where it’s the gen 1 or 3 region. And you play through the game’s story as it would normally go in the gba games just better

I can't figure out how to patch it it won't work for me. Someone needs to do a video demonstrating how to download it. For tech illiterate people like me it's near impossible:/ I want to play Grand Colosseum and XG but it's not possible
does this game have faster purification, though? In the original you had to spend so much time not actually playing the game by grinding down the heart guage.
Yes it does! The rates are massively reduced for all Pokemon except a select few, so much so that if you spam shadow rush/hyper mode/call on some easy fights you can purify a full party within 10/20 minutes
Sorry I'm afraid not! Once you get past Dakim though Mt Battle's first six areas are for EV training so you can always power level your way through if you're struggling hahah
Unchanged unfortunately, didn't have it in me to do 200 more unique battles for a mode most people don't touch hahah. Maybe one day I'll ask for community submitted teams to go in there though, check out the discord if you're interested :)

I wish there were more pokemon added like I'd love to see you surpass the amount of sword and shield and scarlet and violet as in all pokemon up to gen 5 maybe more dunno if the GC can handle them, you probably would need to remove a few polygons. Also it would be even more amazing if you connected all places with routes and add wild pokemon but that's just all the stuff nintendo didn't want in because of DS sales which would have made the games so much more perfect than they already were
I've never seen so much ignorance in one Single comment. You really think that Gamedev and romhacking is just pressing a Single button and everything magically apears? Romhacking the GC titles isn't even far enough to add half of your suggestions, which should have been painfully obvious considering the fact that only like 2-3 actual romhacks of those games exists and even then, all changes are pretty much related to available mons and combatstuffs. Also your last argument makes 0 sense. Gamecube Sold poorly back in the day and adding routes to the game wouldn't have changed that. These games were aiming for a darker story with more focus on story different gameplay elements. If you really think its that easy to add all this stuff in a couple of days I suggest you start modeling all the new mons along with the routes yourself.
@MegaKBang the only Ignorant person here is you, if you really think I said it would be just pushing 1 button you should head back to elementary school because you lack the abillity to read. You do know that I wouldn't need to model a single mon. It's not hard to download a model dump from the net to convert models and lower their polygon count. I have done that for custom models in VR chat myself. I also only made 2 suggestions not even making demands but if saying "it would be amazing to have" is the worst somebody could say to you then get off the internet rlly. Oh yea cause the story was so complicated and it would have been impossible to connect the world like a zelda game or tales of symphonia did. Games that do incredibly well can push console sales. If you think that a bigger Pokemon title wouldn't have mattered then you clearly have no idea what "system seller" really means Also, not like the game isn't being modded already. People are also able to load assets into windwaker and sunshine. Not like the gamecube games are impossible to mod.

For colosseum you mean? They added GBA multiplayer compatability a bit over a year ago, so if you have a save file on your GBA and use visual boy advance you can use the multiplayer! Though I havent tested it with Grand and have a feeling it wont work due to the changes in Pokemon :P
It'd be cool if you could Give Rui her Japanese look (which was just an exposed midriff. Zomg, belly button, kids can't see that! Not like Misty and Jessie wore crop tops...) Decapitalize And hopefully soon, last I heard from Stars years ago, this was on its way, add in Pokemon from newer generations.
Whos playing the Hoenn patch version of this? Can someone send me a copy to a Hoenn patched version so I can play? I've done literally everything to get Hoenn patched with the game.
@@ZeldaKid5000:18 he used shadow bone on noctowl. Shadow bone is a ghost type move with 85 BP and 100% accuracy and noctowl is a normal flying type…. How was that super effective? Dudes bad at mechanics probably a bad game
Yeah not sure how I never noticed as a child how ugly the stadium models looked compared to the Hoenn ones hahah, nothing can be done for them yet unfortunately but maybe one day
@@KyaColosseum I was referring to the design of the pokemons from the Kanto Region that were added for the Pokémon XG game.. You can clear see a difference in quality between them and the original Pokémons from Colosseum. It's the main complaint have for that game. (please give us a main character like the one in Colosseum with his bike...) Otherwise Pokémon XG is enjoyable
