Tried it twice on stream today, again, and caught it twice with ~10 or so Ultra Ball attempts. I had shitty luck, 100 balls will catch it 90% of the time lol.

@@SUK This is shiny hunting, where you're gaming the RNG. Better to have 100+ ultra balls and be fine 99.9% of the time. Because RNG cuts both ways. ;P Also, in Let's Go specifically, there's no reason not to only bother with ultra balls at this point. That sweet sweet x3 multiplier is too hard to ignore anymore.

I know right as soon as I finish the Elite Four I maxed out my Pokeballs and you can only hold 999 and that's what I have on all my balls except for premium ball at master ball of course

I was with my friend when he catched Rayquaza with a poke ball in pokemon emerald back when we were kids, that didn't stop me from carrying a crapton of ultraballs when i had to catch it myself. It's just basic pokemon common sense since red and blue. I wouldn't say that he deserved it, but he wouldn't deserved to catch it either

@@ethanwong1189 Yep. The shiny ground items respawn every 10 minutes and have a low chance of finding a master ball. I actually found this out accidently and only my first spot found a master ball.

@@DeviousKitten27 After you beat the elite four, it'll guide you into the cerulion cave. Just make your way through and you'll run into mewtwo. moltres is within the cave that is right before the elite four. articuno is within a cave on the water to the east of that city on the bottom left of the map (that you need surf to get to)

The fact that he failed this Mewtwo doesn't really have to do with the fact that he didn't have a masterball. Given that legendaries in this game don't use struggle or run, if you have even a halfway decent amount of Ultra Balls, (which isn't exactly hard because in the postgame you can just farm the Gym Leaders daily and score a few hundred ultra balls.) You should be more than fine, especially if you use dual joycons and berries. Pokemon such as Mr. Mime, Lapras, Tauros, ect. have fairly low catch rates. Nowhere near as low as legendaries, but still very low. However, these guys are far more likely to be Masterball material because, while their catch rate is significantly higher, they also run fairly quickly, making for a fairly large margin of failure, ironically far higher than the legendaries.

True once I used over 300 ultra balls + random amount of other balls in soulsilver, ended up having to use master ball anyway. Mewtwo don't play fair lmao

I mean, legendaries don't use Struggle in this game, nor do they run, so if you have even a halfway decent amount of ultra balls and berries, you should be fine without a masterball, as you have an essentially infinite amount of time to catch them. Other Pokemon, such as Lapras, Kangaskhan, Tauros, etc, have very low catch rates, but run after only a few balls thrown, so they are statistically more likely to be masterball residents than the legendaries are.

Maelstromof Chaos legendaries don’t even run,but if it’s the birds in the wild,then they can run,but mewtwo never runs.

Oof, I remember in Let's Go I was shiny hunting Magikarp but then a shiny Lapras appeared. I was afraid it would run away because I love it's shiny so I used the master ball ;-;

Bruh, he doesn't even need the masterball for legendaries in this game. A halfway respectable amount of ultra balls would have sufficed, especially when paired with sync bonus and berries.

It's just that even a copious amount of ultra balls and berries has such an incredibly low margin of failure, that the master ball is more of a precaution than anything. Which is why I did my legendaries fairly early on in my Let's Go living dex. That way, I could further justify using a master ball when a rare shiny inevitably fixes to run.

At least I redeemed myself with Latios about a year later. Just felt like sharing my story, cuz I know how much this feeling hurts

If you ever decide to pick it back up again, I wish you luck. Latios was way easier to find and catch for me. Just, make triple sure you're well (over)prepared if you used your masterball already.

@@PlayerZelda this isn't entirely true. I believe that none of the legendaries can run, however the snorlax's can. I tried to catch the snorlax below lavender town with a pokeball, and it ran from me. Luckily for me it was just through the story and not for a shiny hunt.
