Now that Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl are out of the way, and Legends Arceus is due for the beginning of 2022... What comes next for Pokemon's next big main series game? Is it generation 9? Well, I would hope so, but I have reason to believe that it's actually going to be Pokemon Let's GO Johto, the sequels to Let's Go Pikachu and Eevee for many different reasons so stay tuned!

EDIT: So Let's GO IS actually considered to be apart of Gen 7. I messed up there, I could've sworn that it was considered apart of Gen 8 on a few credible websites but it seems I was wrong and I should've cross-checked before hand. Apologies for that. But the point of the switch successor and the games still remain to be solid. Shout out to Neto Obichere for pointing this out! Let me know whether you want to see a new Let's GO title or Gen 9 next, and how you feel about Let's GO as a whole!

I wouldn't mind a let's go Johto reason why is I really don't think they can afford to rush out gen 9 next year for the sake of meeting deadlines or whatever. Let them take another year to polish things off.

What I don’t like about the Lets go Pikachu and Eevee is that the Pokémon could not have held items and they did not have abilities and Golbat and onix did not have their Evolution Crobat and Seelix

Dlc. Let's go Pikachu/Eevee: Heart of Gold/Soul of Silver Edition. Adds Johto without having to redesign the entirety of the originals into Let's Go style, just a major half plus post game Kanto storyline. Or you can pick which region to start in and switch events from Kanto to Johto if you decide to play through Kanto first

Bulbapedia states that the Let's Go series is still a part of generation 7, despite Meltan and Melmetal's introductions.

I seen a tweet from Joe Merrick way back where he was on his personal account mentioning that he considered Let's GO to be apart of Gen 8, and I swear I remember it being in the Gen 8 section but you are correct. Thank you for this, I will remember to crosscheck next time.

Clefairy was suppose to be the mascot for Pokemon originally instead of Pikachu. Not to mention both Pikachu and Clefairy are apart of 3 stage evolution lines (prior to gen 7). So if there is anything johto related coming up Cleffa and Pichu might be the ones at center stage.

Dude, I didn’t care for the the first ones, but a Johto version I’d be all over. Nothing against gen one, it’s just been remade many times and I can play it with my eyes closed. Gen 2 has always been my favorite though!

I would like to see Let’s Go Johto happen. It’s been a long time since Heartgold and Soulsilver has came out since 2009/2010. So I would like to see Johto being revisited in the future on the switch! I can see Entei, Raikou and Suicune as the version masctos for Let’s Go Johto!

Let’s go can be a series that happens in generations that don’t get traditional remakes following the pattern Gen 10 will have a Gen 5 remake the only other generation that can get a remake right now would be Gen 2 the rest are too resent or just got one so it makes sense

Whether it’s “Let’s Go” or not, Johto remakes are going to be the next games. Johto is the next region due for a remake as it was last remade right after Sinnoh, the same way we got Kanto remakes after Hoenn remakes since Kanto was originally remade right after Hoenn. Also, the Pokemon GO Heritage thing with Johto is the biggest piece of information pointing to this, like you said, they announce games in late February typically, so they'll likely have all this build up just to say "oh by the way Johto remakes coming before Christmas 2022".

The next remake would most likely be Unova since gens 1-4 have all been remade. Pokemon Go thing is most likely do to legend Arceus not johto since the Go season is during the time Legends comes out.

Lets Go isn't just for kids, remeber the reason why Let's go came out is because of the popularity of Pokemon Go which appealed to a lot of adults who never cared about Pokemon prior or genwunners who stopped playing in 2000.

The Switch isn't part of last gen's of consoles, they were the first of this gen's consoles. The Wii U was it's counterpart in that gen.

Mine too. They were originally going to be the only pokemon games. It was supposed to end with those regions. Even the anime comes full circle. But the franchise became too big too stop

I would love a Let’s go Cleffa and a Let’s Go Togepi, mainly because Cleffa was added in Gen 2 and Clefairy was gonna be the original mascot. Togepi is also basically the mascot of Gen 2 tbh AAAAAAAND both secondary evolutions evolve through stones

I'd like to see Johto in 3D. I'm just wondering if they would still include Kanto. It would have to be pretty different story-wise or it would seem to similar to Let's Go Pikachu/Eevee. Also, they could put Sevii Islands in it like Firered and Leafgreen. I think that would be cool, but I'm not sure if that would actually happen.

Here is the problem with this theory. When Ballguy leaked info in the beginning of the year he said gen 9 in 2022 and the chinese riddler nihlego khu didn't say his info was incorrect. He said that was the only info that he knew and clearly the leaker is a reliable source. So my guess is that gen 9 in 2022 and lets go jhoto in 2023 or something like that

Let's go was gen 7. If you need a connection to alola Mina was in the game. A new generation starts with new starters and new box art legends. Honestly we need to come up with a whole new definition of a generation since USUM came out.

I consider lgpe gen 7 games. It didn’t hv z-moves or pokemon outside of the original 151 (aside from meltan and melmetal) but it did have alolan forms, mega evolution, and Mina (the fairy captain) was in it as well

Wasn't Clefairy at 1 point in time, being considered as a mascot for the original Let's Go games ? I can see how Cleffa relates to being a possible hint for the Let's Go Johto games, although, I prefer something different personally, but, any attention for Johto is fine by me :)

Cleffa could be the partner Pokémon alongside Pichu hinting to Let's Go Pichu and Cleffa since Clefairy was originally gonna be Ash's starter and could've become the face of Pokémon like Pikachu became.

You make some good points but I felt let’s go was on the back of Pokemon go in it’s absolute prime. Is it still that huge? Genuine question, not followed pokemon go at all and at least all my friends who played the hell of it have fallen off it now.

It's still big! Just not as big, you won't hear about it much because of Covid and all but things have been changed so you can play the games indoors
