I didnt expect this video to get this much traction, im sorry if this video was stretched this was done back when I was a teenager. RIP this scene it will stay in Platinum perpetually.
Hands down the most epic Pokemon cutscene ever. Cyrus: "Regardless, the effort is rash and foolish. I have harnessed the power of Dialga and Palkia..." Giratina: "They're *my* bitches, not yours."
+casartherandom even the new movie shows arceus as vastly above even mega rayquaza. every single legendary tryed stopping space-time distortion including mega ray, and they couldn't do shit. arceus comes and guess what, he stops it easily without even being near it, he just used some unknown light ray thing.
***** in case you didnt know that it was P.I.S. now you know. its only in the movie anyway. any other source, including the manga, shows him at least in universal power.
*few hours later* *Giratina appears* Cynthia: lol catch it Lucas: wHAT THE FUCK CYNTHIA HELP ME YOU"RE THE FUCKING CHAMPION Cynthia: lol no thx it'll ruin my hair buns Giratina: *REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE* Lucas: NOOOOOOOOOOOOONONONONONONONONO
This is genuinly scary, and not just for the shock of the jumpscare. The music is creepy, Giratina's eyes are horrifying, and to top it all off, *it smiles before scaring you shitless*.
That moment... when the most scariest and darkest brother you had.. just popped up, looking very pissed off at a human who is about to screw up the universe and try to play a god and make another one..
well I think Giratina was distorting time and space so everything around him was warped so their gravity was shifted away from................... so uh basically they pushed back by a force
+Organist are you sure ? the pillars were warped too even Cyrus was pushed back I still think it was some distortion field caused by Giritina I don't think they all stepped away from him because they were scared it was caused when he entered they're world because he from the distortion world SEE IT MAKES SENSE!!......... right?
julius alexander idk because of how little we know about the physics of the distortion world, it's safer to say that giratina's roar was so powerful it made it look like it was distorting stuff and made everyone step back
Cyrus is all about ego and being better than "human failings" like actually reacting to things. Maybe he knew about his lineage's aversion to bugs and makes a conscious effort to not be scared. We see him drop the facade at the end here and actually sound intimidated, maybe centipedes really are the one thing that gets to him.
@@painvillegaming4119 Arceus: I told you the child I banished would show up. Now for the spoils. Regigigas: *Angry computer noises* Rayquaza: *Sad Sky dragon noises* *Regigigas and Rayquaza lost 200 pokedollars each*
Dang I wish us Americans got the Azure Flute, that would've been so epic to use. And I always regret not getting the Arceus that would've unlocked the epic hidden scene of HG and SS, that would've been so amazing to experience :,(.
I love how the Lake Guardians even come from the right directions when ascending to Spear Pillar. I love when this level of attention is paid to small moments.
Cyrus: The lake trio is here? Who cares, I have palkia and dialga *giratina starts to appear* Cyrus: Oh, there's a colossal pitch black hole in the ground and a pokemon is coming out, interesting *giratina comes out* Cyrus: Oh, I see you are scary enough to make dialga and palkia step back only with your presence and those are some pretty sharp wings you got there *giratina roars and prepares to attack* Cyrus: You know I don't give a fuck about this, do you?
Van Oscuro I think it's because Giratina lives in an entirely different world that might not be affected by space and time so he has no reason to give a fuck

What is the opposite of getting bothered by something? (giving no fucks is at level 0 for it.)
@@irokosalei5133 the Original Drakengard does it for me. Playing through chapter 13 in a pitch black room at three in the morning is a surreal experience I don't want to repeat.
Everything about this scene is bonechillingly perfect. The lack of dialogue from anyone but Cyrus serves to show that he's alone facing this complete unknown, we know something bad is going to happen and he alone does not. The sound design is also fantastic. Giratina's portal appears in a sea of distorted whining and scraping, and the music is a jumbled mess of broken sounds and scattered music notes, rising to a pitch as Cyrus is swept into the distortion world. Even the effects as Giratina attacks, with the Spear Pillar warping around it, and Cyrus' speech in-game _glitching out_ as Giratina sweeps forwards in the first and only jumpscare Pokemon has ever had.
@The Pencil Me too, while I expected that there would be something behind me when the camera turned on by itself, I didn't expect the Mimikyu to be THAT CLOSE to the camera.
I see Cyrus’ dialogue just before the jumpscare as more like he’s realised what sort of danger he’s in, and so his words fail him as fear sets in. As if the confidence that using Dialga and Palkia to protect himself all faded away as he realised: *this creature does not play by their rules.*
Despite how frightening it is, the best part of this cutscene? Its Giratina, pulling off a Big Damn Heroes moment. Scary yes, but would you rather live knowing you had the world and your ass saved by Giratina, than to live in a world where said fear would never have existed because you wouldn't know what fear was?
JockKroser On part, it is self-preservation. Giratina knows that its world is destroyed if Cyrus went through his plan, so it pulls this maneuver in an attempt to prevent Cyrus from destroying it. Inadvertently it saves ours as well in the process. Rejoice! :D
It's a shame but Gamefreak had always intended Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl to be completely faithful remakes. That means all events from Platinum like this moment were not to appear in-game. That being said you can still fight Giratina's origin forme in the remakes.
Now that Pokémon Legends Arceus is out, this scene makes a lot more sense. Giratina saw that Cyrus was basically trying to pull a Volo and recreate the world in his own image, so it pulled him into the revere world to prevent that. Giratina, as well as Dialga and Palkia was eager to battle the player character as if it recognized him/her. It’s time with the player character in Hisui likely becalmed it and it no longer held a grudge against Arceus.
It saw out characters and thought back to us and probably said to his siblings "I swear either their descendants or they found a way forward hopefully the second"
For real tho... that creepy smile when Giratina was readying to pounce Cyrus. That's some Chara-level shit right there. I can't wait to see this in 3D.
Its so weird to realize that a lot of people playing Pokemon weren't even born before it came out. Its just always existed for them. That creates a strange emotion I can't quite identify. Like some mix of curiosity and confusion.
[TLG] Grovyle Media™ yeah, as a kid after playing the game I really thought giratina would come out from under my bed and just drag me into the shadows... pretty horrifying.
This is why I loved platinum, I still think it's the best Pokémon game ever made. Not only did the story feel like it had something at stake, it also had the most memorable champion, and introduced some of the most liked mons to date. And it still managed to feel epic! A sense of actual exploration- Sinnoh didn't just feel like a giant gameworld, it felt like an actual continent. And that concludes my opinion. Problem genwunner?
I'm a genfiver myself. Yeah, I know those are rare. But I agree about the story for Platinum too, as well as Cynthia being the most memorable champion.
SECOND best, luk. Emerald is the best. Although the champion aint great... the super boss steven battle is still added. Also emerald has the best battle frontier
Not gonna lie.. the way dialga and palkia *MOVE BACK* implies giratina has strength enough for them to respect or fear. Nice seeing this after legends arceus to how how giratina was back then and is now. Some say it rules antimatter.. some say it rules gravity even i say it rules distortion itself.. but we can all agree whatever it rules.. is enough to make dialga and palkia somewhat fear and respect it that time and space bend to it. even less say its shadows.. maybe it rules all of these concepts at once which is why the distortion world is so strange.
I always thought Giratina's Sheer Existence fears Palkia and Dialga, the three definitely know the other exist and have some form of fear and respect for the other, but Palkia and Dialga saw the battle between Arceus and Giratina. I always believed they feared Giratina because of it's very existence, it had the balls and believed in it's own ability to fight God, no less the trio's _father_ to be exact. Which is why they didn't fight Giratina upon arriving, just being pushed back in both fear and knowing what Giratina is gonna do to Cyrus.
To be fair, there's also the fact that the two were shackled with the red chains st that moment, which probably also dampened their power significantly enough that Giratina by himself seemed impressive by comparison; unlike the two, Giratina was mostly at full power, his only possible handicap at that point is that he's reaching outside his home dimension.
Palkia and Dialga together shape reality as we know it, pure reality. Giratina resides in what is essentially unreality. The both of them hold not the tiniest bit of sway, of power in that world. It's like me being able to move rocks on earth and then suddenly being reduced to floating in space. Absolute powerlessness is scary, especially to the powerful.
I love how Cyrus is unware of Giratina. Like he figured out how to create Red Chains and use them to subjugate Dialga and Palkia, but somehow he's just surprised by the third Creation Trio member Giratina.
He doesn't even know that it's part of the Creation Trio and that he is called Giratina... He just calls it "shadow pokèmon", or "pokèmon that appears like a shadow".
@Jovana Sanchez I mean, in Legends Arceus, all records of Giratina were destroyed. Only Volo and possibly Cogita really knew about it in that era. More so in this games continuity before Legends Arceus was even conceived, it was banished for being too violent. So it is understandable that knowledge regarding Giratina was few and far between.
One of the best parts of this scene is watching Cyrus go from stone cold psychopath to “I *severely* fucked up” in mere seconds right behind Giratina lunges
In a potential remake, this scene has *a lot* of potential. But now that I notice... the rival heals your Pokemon, and flees, wishing you luck. He could have, at least, stayed to show support, but not even that =/
Cristian Martinez Huh. Well its been about ten years so I think I can be somewhat excused. Either way you're clearly the to handle the job in-game so he was probably just trying to not get in the way or something.
giritina: DO YOU WANT THE GUY WHO ORIGINALLY CAPTURED ME TO COME HERE CAUSE SONNY OLD BOY THIS IS HOW HE COMES HERE MAN KNOWS THE PASSEGS YOU CANNOT RUN
Every third game of one gen is the best (Yellow > Red/Blue, Crystal > Gold/Silver, Emerald > Ruby/Sapphire, Platinum > Pearl/Diamond). Unfortunately, Gamefreak never remakes the third games.
@@DanielRyanScott Kids are more sensitive to things then Adults Which means some Kids Can get scared super quickly While others not really for example a kid can get Scarred for Life If they see something too scary thats why people dont like kids watching playing or doing scary stuff

No wonder Giritina was banished from Sinnoh by arceus. It definitely has a temper. I remember playing this. It was at night and I had Popcorn next to me, I was under the sheets of my bed cover, to make it more dramatic. :D Doing it Climatic Style!
The thing that made Giratina scary is that its shadow-figure wasn't looking at any of the characters. It was looking directly at the camera. It was looking directly at *YOU.* And it *lunged* at you to begin the fight.
you do realize he succeed, right? or, at least he trapped Cyrus in the distortion world where he would either starve to death or jump off and commit suicide.
+MrAppleSalad He seems pretty satisfied with essentially being in Hell. Plus, the Distortion World doesn't work like ours. Maybe he doesn't need to eat while he's down there?
Reverse Dipper Pines That’s a different Cyrus. It was stated that the villains in USUM all come from alternate dimensions where they succeeded in their plans, meaning that that Cyrus came from a world where he tore apart the space-time continuum and existed in nothingness.
While I love Giratinas appearance in PLA I do wish we got something more like this. Seeing it in a 3D cutscene and knowing yo have to fight this terrifying pokemon would be epic.
Granted, the events of _Arceus_ are brilliant context for this scene. “And so more humans bring the stench of mankind’s hubris to these heights. This time, I shall cleanse it straightaway.”
Spoilers: “Something feels Enraged” That might have more meaning now. What if, due to the events of PLA, Giratina has come to regret the actions it took? What if, seeing Cyrus attempts to create a similar event it’s angry that another fool would try to repeat the past? What if, in Pokémon Platinum, we’re seeing Giratina’s Redemption Ark?
That’s exactly what happened. Giratina decided to become a Protector, not a destroyer, after seeing what Volo did. Cyrus planned the same thing, and Giratina made sure to stop it!
My favourite part about this cutscene, apart from all of it because its amazing, is that the moment he enters our dimension the stone pillars just bend, not break but bend Such a nonchalant display of power
But Pokemon games are supposed to be suitable for all ages, yet they added a friggin' jumpscare! It scared the shit outta me when I first played Platihum.
I like how when Giratina appears Dialga and Palkia back away, crying, like either "OH SHIT" or, if they were rappers or gang members, it would be like "OH, Wassup, wassup!"
The cutscene in a nutshell: Cyrus: Muahahhaha! I now control both Dialga and Palkia! Nothing can stop me! Lake trio: We can! Cyrus: No, you can't. Lake trio: No... we can't... HAI GAIZ! Giratina: I can. Cyrus: No you can't! With the combined power of Dialga, Palkia, and my luxurious blue hair, nothing can stand in the way of my plan to... Giratina: OMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOM! Hero: Sweet! Happy fun black vortex of death time! WHEEEEEEEEEEEeeeeeeee...
After Legends Arceus, this scene gets a very different context: Giratina: "You...I have met someone like you before...someone who wanted to tear it all down, like I once did. I believed in that person, and fought for their sake. But then another came and showed me the beauty of the world." Cyrus: (terrified stammering) Giratina: "To preserve that beauty...I'LL CONSUME YOU WHOLE!"
When I played this for the first time, I was playing with my best friend (it was a sleepover), and the light in my room flickered as Giratina showed up, and completely went out when it jump-scared me. We both were scared shitless, but it's really funny to look back on.
I like to think Giratina could understand what Cyrus was saying and as a powerful being of darkness he found it funny and decided to say “say that again but this time come to MY WORLD”
The best part about this cutscene is that you can totally hear Palkia and Dialga's cry when Giratina shows up and they back away. It's almost like you can hear them saying "Oh shit, you fucked up. You really fucked up."
It's ironic that Giratina, the very same Pokémon that Arceus created and banished to the Distortion World, interfered with the world destroying plans of Team Galaxy and save the world of Pokémon and even the universe itself.
The creepy music, the Lake trio scattering in the sky from the distortion, the way Dialga and Palkia stepped back when Giratina rose from the depths, Giratina spreading its wings and deforming them into clawed hands, the music getting more and more intense as it closes in on Cyrus, all the way to it pouncing as it screams into the night. Giratina terrifies everything around it, even fellow Legendaries. And this cutscene shows us why: this Pokémon will be out for BLOOD if you piss it off.
It's wing spikes get bigger and burn white just before he grabs Cyrus...was Giratina literally trying to kill Cyrus? Like straight up impale the fucker and drag his arse to the Distortion World? Damn Giratina, you scurreh. On another note, the Helsing Abridged comments in the chat make me smile. Cynthia and the Player just watch Giratina doomgaze at Cyrus. Giratina: OH, you want to recreate the world hmmmmm? Well summon your legendaries! Call upon your admins! Give me a huuug! Cyrus: *shitting himself* WAIT I'M SOR- Giratina: OMNOMNOMNOM *grabs Cyrus and drags him back into the portal kicking and screaming. Later... Cynthia and Player are in the Distortion World trying to find Giratina. Suddenly it just flys up to them in it's (admittedly horrific) Origin Forme. Giratina: HEY KIDS! WANNA SEE A DEAD BODY!?!?!? *flys off spinning around doing the 'woopwoopwoop'*
