Pokemon REPRINTS COMING?!? 

I really wanted a bacon cheeseburger for lunch today, but was afraid of looking foolish if it goes on a special tomorrow for 10% cheaper. I wouldn’t be able to live with myself if I didn’t make my burger investment 100% perfectly.

Alex - this is too much common sense for the internet.

My feeling is that The Pokemon Company is just taking their time to see how the market performs before announcing reprints. Considering how 151 has been selling out immediately, there's going to be waves of it released, but not in a way that it floods the market. The quantities will be calculated by TPC, but 151 will continue to be available and prices will stagnate eventually as the market absorbs as much product as it physically and fiscally can. For that reason, I think 151 is a poor investment short-term and long-term (next 5 years). The flippers that want to turn around and resell immediately will be left holding on to product because everyone already has the amount they want or can afford. Scarlet & Violet main sets are way better in the way of investment over specialty sets, in general. Team Rocket set is going to cause the market to shift away from 151 as well. I do agree that for booster boxes $95 to $120 is still a good price considering MSRP is $160. I'm sure that TCP want the prices to rise because of that.

IMO, If daily/weekly/monthly fluctuations make you that nervous, then long term sealed investing might not be for you. The key words are long term. The yearly market charts are what is most important. Price fluctuations in the shorts term are meaningless unless you are looking to short term flip these boxes or you are looking to unload your position within the next year. As long as the yearly charts are trending in the right direction, you are golden. We all got to just chill😎 Oh and I love bacon cheeseburgers!🥓🍔

I say do a little of everything. Buy a few boxes to hold for 5+ years, a few to sell short term, and 1-2 boxes to open for singles/enjoyment. Just save money for that Bacon Cheese Burger, investment fuel.

Agree. Non-stop talk of reprints is getting really old and honestly, this will be the last vid that I watch on the subject; at least until there is a reason to talk about it like when Evolving Skies got their last 'short' reprint or that touchy issue of how Vivid Voltage was destroyed. As I see it right now it only means those that missed out can now get in and those holding just have to keep holding. Anything else means little to me.

I will say there is a local store who sells Booster Boxes for $105 on pre-order and $110 on release. So, $110 for this store is MASSIVE for those who like to shop in person for their collections or investments in Pokémon. Also, good for him as he gets more customers in the store each release. It's a win-win for each the customer and the store. Sure, it's not under that ONE HUNDRED dollars, but you get to see the box in person if you just wanna pick up one or a few. And he even does decent deals on cases too on release initially. I'll pay an extra $10 if I'm buying just a few per box if it means I get to see the quality of the box. Now cases, take your chances either online or in a shop if you can get a deal AND if you plan on keeping the cases sealed. Most cases will not have perfect wraps on ALL 6 boxes. We know this. Otherwise, I think you are right that most stores will not get low enough to hit that $110 per box. I think most of the LGS I've seen in my area or a little further out usually have them for $120-130 on release.

🍔 always strong content and I completely agree. There is a very real possibility that booster boxes do not get reprinted and you're wishing you went in at the release!

I'll do you one better: bacon chili cheeseburger. I'm just waiting for the reprint on chili-scalpers were just clearing out the shelves and weighing the cans, selling the light ones for a profit. Somewhat new to the channel. The direct and straightforward commentary is what kept me coming back till hitting the sub button. 👍

4:00 has been my theory since the S&V base reprint. “One big run and done” is every printing company’s goal, especially if they are expected to print new cards and new art in the future. Think of a newspaper company, they don’t reprint last month’s news. Especially if it’s gonna make that newspaper less valuable. I think a better example would be a painter. They may make a run of prints of a certain painting but usually a continuous print drags that art down in value. I understand that every company wants to just sell everything but not every company has promised a new game set every 60-90 days. I can very easily see the company shifting to single large prints. 100% agree.

I think the main metric Pokémon will use for reprints is a booster boxes selling out on Pokemon Center. Why reprint a set and sell to distributors at a 50% discount when you can sell half as much volume on your own website for $160 and have a more predictable line of supply? Instead of distributors selling for a “discount” , Pokémon will sell direct to consumer for a “discount” to market price. I could be wrong, but I think $180-200 will be the cap on this entire era for the next few years. Once it hits that, I bet we see them magically restock on PC. I hope I’m wrong as in investor in sealed modern, but that’s what I would do as a business.

First off great video, I love the longer content. My favorite cheeseburger is the smokeshack from Shake Shack. I 100% agree with you on the reprint topic. For context, I started collecting CZ a month before Paldea Evolved dropped. After over a year I’m pretty up to speed and collecting all of SV. I’m not an investor. At least not to sell, I invest to open. My goals to start SV for every set minimum is 2 Pokemon Center ETBs. 1 to collect, 1 to rip for the promos and enjoy the new set. Starting with Paradox Rift I bought one Booster Box per set to open. Before this I opened a Booster Box of SV Base, then Paldea Evolved with all of the tik tok coupons I was getting. Can’t go back, it’s the best way to open. Best pull rate. So starting with Temporal Forces, I bought 2 Booster Boxes. One to open, One to collect. Then when Twilight was coming out I decided I wanted 3 booster boxes along side my 2 PC ETBs. 1 to open. One to collect/display. One to potentially open in the future. The mistake I made is not buying 3 Twilight Booster boxes. It would’ve been tight but I could afford it. Now it’s $120. So far I have caught up and have 1 of every SV Booster box except Paradox Rift, I have 2, so im done with that set. One thing you didn’t mention with Reprints are pull rates and QC. Remember I said I started with CZ? Well that set is notorious for having great odds. You know what SV sets have great odds? SV Base and PE. Almost a guarantee you get at least 1 SIR (1/27 packs). I’m considering buying a Booster Box of PE and Twilight outside that $90-$100 range I originally paid for two reasons. One, guarantee I get them still under MSRP. Two, to guarantee I get this first wave pull rates. I have no idea if odds will get worse. Maybe PE gets Twilight odds? Maybe Twilight gets even harder to pull. I want that 2nd box to rip 5+ years from now to have the best odds possible. Now if these sets get massively reprinted, I’ll just buy another box and open when it comes in the mail if it still holds up better than the 2025 sets.

i bought some slabs and boxes april-may and havent looked since. i picked up a sick deal on sparks from arena and have been looking around sams clubs for czs but ive been ignoring other SW&SH moves completely. checking price moves every week/month is not investing, thats called swing trading, and i have no idea how people have the patience to do it with something as illiquid as physical product. i wasnt able to find any stellar crown under $100/bb after tax so ive come to terms with skipping the set if it flies. people are too naive hoping for price drops or reprints without thinking of best and worst case scenarios like you said. i saw it a bunch in trading where people waited for a good buyin and eventually FOMO'd into a price point they never expected when things started moving up fast. i could easily see the same thing happen for BBs of sets. have a plan that addresses the eventualities and stick too it, flailing around just spikes cortisol for no reason.

Bacon cheeseburger! Love this and loved this long video! The only thing I can think of that is really risky for reprints is conditional rarity singles. For instance I’ve been collecting some IR’s from obsidian flames that have horrible psa 10 rates (high conditional rarity). If that set got reprint and the quality was higher the value of those cards could drop a lot. But that’s collecting which is more of a gamble anyway. With sealed product I agree with you that is kind of a moot point overall especially if you aren’t going too heavy into any one set and ending up with a pokemon go scenario.

Reprints can happen at any time. But stressing and dwelling on the small possibility is a waste of time. If every S&V gets reprinted, I'm buying heavy with TM, 151, and P Evolved. I have some sealed of each, but a fee booster boxes of P Evolved/TM isn't enough.

Newer sub here. This is solid investment advice for pretty much all investments. Buy and hold. Don't fomo. Don't panic sell. Just chill lol.

There is no way they reprint all those sets, some of them may but it probably won't drop most of those sets below around launch especially with some hype and printing to demand in the coming sets. What’s the point of a reprint? most if not all of the cards that you need to play are available for pennies. The only thing scarce are the big hits. Why would pokemon want to reprint those kill their value and destroy demand for future products?

That was a tasty cheeseburger with a side of reality 😋 As a collector, I know people collect for a myriad of reasons, one being to have valuable and sought after pieces, much like fine/antique art collectors. You also have the collector that just wants what they want, and they'll pay what they're comfortable with, to attain it. I paid $150 for my 151 japanese booster box, because that was the best deal at the time. Then it fell to $60 months later, so I bought 2 more. It didn't change the fact that I was willing to pay the first $150, and I'm not going to cry about it, because I'm not trying to flip it, I just want to own it. Be it $150 or $150,000, if it was the best decision at the time, don't look back and judge based on present knowledge. That kind of thinking stunts your confidence in decision making, and going forward you'll second-guess moves that could potentially benefit you.

i try to put at least 1k a month into pokemon at about 30 k sealed long term holder i plan on holding for 5 years only time i sell is when something gains 130 percent thats my sweet spot , becuase i assume i will lose 30 percent due to shipping , taxes and ebay fees so if i wait till 130 percent gain from my intial investment i will be fine with losing the 30 percent and get my 100 percent gains shoot i have lgs next to me that will buy most sealed items for 70 to 80 percent value in person no uncle sam involved but yah all i wanna do is double my money liquidate put half back into the hobby and half for whatever i want

Reprints or over stock is already here. Look at the massive and I mean massive reloading of chilling reign ETBs at Target. Pokemon absolutely took the massive stock they had and repackaged them into ETBs. They did the same thing with evolutions.

My issue with Pokemon and MTG, the base prices, even wholesale are overpriced. Nearly every other tcg cost 30%+ less. Based on $95 wholesale price and $140 market is fair but in generally it’s overpriced. Bandai has nicer looking cards with better quality control too for less. How and why retailers are paying that much for such a small profit margin is silly.

I don’t care about any set apart from English 151 being reprinted in England they were £9.99 a pack in a shop same price as evolving skies don’t get me wrong you can get them for 7 in deals but a penny of a 10 pounds rediculouse and I want to buy some for investment and think the price atm no good might of missed it when I was buying up loads for my master set at like 5 pound a pack best route is buying upc and selling promos and squirtle card
