Pokemon Scarlet and Violet - Kieran & Terapagos Battle | Reacting To Video Game Music! 

Kieran is the rival character for the dlc, he kinda runs both sides of the rival archatypes as he is your friend for first part of the dlc but has a falling out and becomes edgy and obsessed with being stronger than the player. These tracks are like the final boss music for the second part of the dlc, Kieran basically catches the legendary but then loses control over it. Honestly it's one of the better arcs I've seen them do in the series,

Really buggy games, really great music, shockingly good story and likeable characters. I really liked it.

I'm pretty sure that Kieran has the most number of battle themes for any one Pokemon character (unless we're counting remixes of themes), and damn well he should, because he goes through a hell of an arc. I sure hope he comes back in a future game to flesh him out even more, as Pokemon also has a tendency to have cameos in otherwise completely new stories with new characters. But Terapagos (yes, it is the turtle Pokemon with the element symbols, and yes, it does change elements) is the final boss of the whole DLC for Scarlet/Violet. Since you don't seem to care about spoilers for this video, I'll just say that you're mostly right in your guessing. Kieran captures Terapagos because he wants more power to beat the main character after repeatedly failing to do so (and losing his champion status), he still fails, he tries to draw out more power from it, Terapagos goes berserk and tries to kill everybody, and then cue final boss. The aftermath of the battle provides a nice conclusion to Kieran's story where he and the player make amends and become friends again, so it's a nice, wholesome end to an otherwise ugly rivalry. And Terapagos is fought in the depths of Area Zero, the final location of Scarlet/Violet's base game, with a theme you've already listened to before, probably months ago. You can hear the Area Zero leitmotif at the very beginning of the Terapagos theme too, if you want to go and compare the music again.

Light spoilers The context of Terapagos is that Kieran goes with us on a journey to find it. He then yoinks it from us with a Master Ball and then fights us with it. He can't utilize its full power. Once it does unleash its full power it goes haywire and attacks Kieran and then we have to fight it while he sulks because "its all my fault" etc. Eventually he joins us in the battle and helps fight it with you. Again, pretty vague to avoid spoilers.

Kieran's an interesting character, he has depth, for once (like most characters in Scarlet and Violet do, compared to most other Pokémon games) story spoilers about kieran's story: He's a DLC only character, and this DLC has 2 parts - First half, "The Teal Mask", you're on a school trip to an island for the local festival and stuff, and meet Kieran there. he's shy, and his sister does most of the talking. the festival is about a legend of ogerpon (the other pokémon in that picture, the green one), the tale of how ogerpon terrorized people and how the "loyal three" defeated him. people love the loyal three, but Kieran is a fan of ogerpon, how he kept fighting even though it was alone, etc. Except you meet ogerpon, she's a small pokemon that was the actual good guy and was bullied by the loyal three, who also killed her friend. Ogerpon choses to join your adventure, and Kieran's majorly pissed off, he fights you over ogerpons's ownership, and loses. He then vows to become stronger, you go back home, end of he teal mask. - Part 2 is "the Indigo disc". There you go as an exchange student to another academy, and that's where kieran and his sister do study. He's changed a lot, new haircut, and he became the champion of their local students league thing. The biggest change, though, is that he became a terrible person. he's arrogant, violent, etc. You all end up learning about terapagos, the legendary pokémon that lies in area zero, and he thinks it's his opportunity to finally get the power he needs to beat you. he does catch terapagos with a master ball, but the pokémon breaks the ball anyway, and you have a boss fight with everyone against terapagos. Kieran doesn't fight at first because he's all like "it's all my fault", but then you motivate him to help fix his mess, and Kieran sees how he had no way of harnessing that power himself, and you humbled him again by beating him, taking his position of the strongest student of the school's league even though you aren't part o the school to begin with, and this friend turned foe turns friend again after he realized how he became a horrible person just to get a bit stronger, and that he can still be strong without greed or wrath. basically. There's also a small epilogue part where you go back to Kieran's home (where you met ogeron), and meet the pokémon that was manipulating the loyal three (also raised them from the dead, maybe) into attacking ogerpon, and implies that kieran was kind of manipulated/possessed/lending his power to him, too. That pokémon, Pecharunt, is the 1025th and last to this day. Also, Ash is not in the games watsoever (besides appearances in a few spinoff sutff), the anime is its own thing. And yeah every entry has its own cast of characters, returning ones are rare and often post game battles or stuff like that.

Pokemon has had a handful of composers and musical artists but I think Go Ichinose is the biggest one. His name is all over the series. The lore of Terapagos is also most of the lore for Scarlet and Violet, so I'll see what I can do to fully summarize it, but one big thing to keep in mind is there's still a lot of mystery around Terapagos and Area Zero. Scarlet and Violet takes place in the Paldea region, which is a region based on Spain and Portugal. In the center of Paldea is a truly gargantuan crater that goes miles deep into the Earth, and down there is where Area Zero is. In the story there is a very important book that comes up, called either the Scarlet book or Violet book depending on which game you're playing. Both books tell of an expedition into Area Zero from a long time ago, somewhere in the ballpark of 50 to 200 years ago. The Scarlet book describes the explorers encountering huge ferocious ancient versions of existing Pokemon, while in the Violet book they encounter futuristic, robotic versions of existing Pokemon. There were also some drawings of the explorers imagining what other ancient/futuristic Pokemon would look like. The lead researcher, Heath, also detailed an encounter with an entity shaped like a disk, and was unsure of whether it was alive or not. There's tons of other entries in these books but those are the most important ones. In present day, near the center of Area Zero resides a research station that contains a "time machine" built by Sada/Turo, that can transport an ancient/future Pokemon into present day. This is where things become unclear. Supposedly the ancient/future Pokemon were there hundreds of years ago, and yet the time machine that was only built relatively recently is the reason they're here? A popular theory suggests that the time machine simply interprets human thoughts and converts them in reality. Either way, the power harnessed by the time machine is the same power Terapagos uses, aka Terastal energy. Some evidence to support the latter theory is the paradoxical nature of the Pokemon being there hundreds of years ago, and in fact these ancient/future Pokemon have their own special classification, the game labels them "Paradox Pokemon". Secondly, when Heath went into Area Zero, he went down there with his Pokemon partner Cyclizar, a lizard Pokemon shaped like a motorcycle. He loved his Cyclizar very much, and some entries in the book suggest that his thoughts of Cyclizar were used by Terapagos to create the legendary paradox Pokemon Koraidon and Miraidon, which are ancient and future versions of Cyclizar. There are also a couple of paradox Pokemon that couldn't have possibly existed in the ancient past, for instance the ancient paradox forms of the Legendary Beasts Raikou Entei and Suicune, which only came into existence a couple hundred years ago. In fact, the theoretical drawing featured in the Scarlet book is a drawing of those three Pokemon fused together and reimagined as an ancient Pokemon. There is one sort of bump in this theory though, which is that after you catch Terapagos, you can bring it to a certain place to activate an event where you meet Sada/Turo from the past before they died, and at the end you give them a copy of a book written by Heaths descendant Briar, an updated account of Area Zero, and they give you their copy of the Scarlet/Violet book. I don't know if that book trade is meant to have consequences for the timeline, but if so, that might mean Terapagos's power is time travel after all. It's totally also feasible though that Terapagos fabricated the whole encounter, or some other 3rd thing. ...yeah. as for Terapagos itself, as stated it's the origin of Terastal energy. Terastal energy has a unique application in Pokemon battles. In Paldea Pokemon are able to Terastallize, basically a power-up shown visually by the Pokemon looking crystallized and a crystal crown appearing on their head. Terastallizing changes the Pokemon into its Tera type. For most Pokemon, their Tera type is their regular typing, or just one of their types if they have two. But in rare cases you can obtain a Pokemon that completely changes type when it Terastallizes, like a Pikachu Terastallizing and becoming a water type. You gain a 50% boost for moves of your Tera type when you Terastallize, and you also become that type defensively, so a water type Pikachu would no longer be weak to ground for example. When Terapagos Terastallizes, it turns into a unique type seen nowhere else in the game, called Stellar. I haven't messed around with the Stellar type enough but to my understanding it has no strengths or weaknesses, except that Stellar type moves always hit Terastallized Pokemon supereffectively. The only way to use a Stellar type move is to use Tera Blast, a move that changes to the type your Pokemon is Terastallized into. A Pokemon that Terastallizes into the Stellar type still keeps their original types defensive attributes though, so a Stellar Pikachu would still be weak to ground. And yes, you can get regular Pokemon with the Stellar Tera type, but it's not quite as good as when Terapagos uses it lol. Terapagos in battle is a powerful legendary Pokemon. Innitially it begins with stats on par with a Pokemon like Dragonite, but when it Terastallizes it transforms into its unique Stellar form which gives it stats that are even higher than a Pokemon like Mewtwo, which is to say, goddamn. It's a pretty ambivalent Pokemon. Outside of battle it's super cute and friendly, but like any wild animal it can be unpredictable. Edit: as for Terapagos's relevancy to Kieran, Kierans story is sort of an interesting meta narrative based on the role of protagonists in games like these. Kieran was born in Kitakami, a land where the legendary Pokemon Ogerpon lurked in their folklore. It was known as an antagonistic figure but Kieran loved it as a kid, and in the end Ogerpons story turned out to be misunderstood by the people kf Kitakami. And yet, the player, who just rolls up into Kitakami from Paldea, instantly sparks this anime bond with Ogerpon and catches it, obtaining great power in her allyship. Fast forward to after you decisively beat Kieran in the Indigo Disk DLC, shortly after you, him and some othsr strong trainers are invited to explore Area Zero and search for Terapagos, and he takes the invitation with the intention of catching Terapagos. He does catch it, and then battles you with it, loses, tries to make it Terastallize, which makes it go haywire and break the ball he caught it in, and then its up to the player to calm it down, but eventually Kieran jumps in and helps too. The player gets both legendary Pokemon, because they have to, because you have to catch them all. At the same time though, just because Kieran loved Ogerpon does not obligate Ogerpon to choose to go with him. There are multiple interpretations you can draw from the plot here, which is pretty interesting.

Basically Kieran's storyline is the second storyline of the game that completes the entire arc of Scarlet/Violet. If this was an anime, it would be like the second season that answers the plot holes left by the first season.

It's funny that you mentioned Touhou here, because when I first played the Teal Mask I immediately thought that Kierans first theme sounded super Touhhou-y lol

Even though scarlet and violet are not the best performance wise, they are really fun and have an amazing story. I would love to see you play it on stream and the vod channel and experience modern pokemon and the entire soundtrack.

Yeah I'm a Pokémon and Touhou fan. My room is full of Pokémon and Touhou plushies :') There's a rom hack of Pokémon FireRed that replaces Pokémon with Touhou characters, it's commonly known as Touhoumon. Years later they made a standalone (fan)game as a spiritual successor of Touhoumon known in english as Touhou Puppet Dance Performance that shares many of its core mechanics with Pokémon.

Anyone that knows how Toby Fox works knows that he loves to play around with leitmotifs. And there's a lot of leitmotifs packed into one track with the second song that you'd think this track is what the entire game leads up to, which in a way it does. Leitmotifs include: Area Zero (duh) The Tera Raid Battle theme And the first Terapagos battle theme, that starts with its own leitmotif (that sounds eerily like Bad Apple from Touhou), seconds after transitioning from Keiran's in the first song. It sort of reminds me of Undertale's Hopes and Dreams, bit then it *is* Toby Fox that's involved. And by involved, I mean, he composed the track, Game Freak's composers arranged it.

Now that you listen to Terapagos’ theme You have to Listen to Ogerpon’s Theme, the Teal Mask legendary you saw on the Left They weren’t Both on the Hunt for Terapagos, that’s towards the end of the Indigo Disk DLC after you defeat him and take his championship. The Teal Legendary on the Left is ogerpon 24:29 and that Pokémon is what Kieran was a huge fan of and the fact that we caught it was the final nail in the coffin and is the reason why he isn’t friends with us. Ogerpon and Terapagos are not version exclusive. They are both in Scarlet version and Violet version.

Kieran and Terapagos is a song that I didn't care for at first but after hearing it like a month later it was a "oh my god this is one of the cooleat songs I've ever heard" I kind of wish it ended differently though. I feel like it doesn't really fit Kieran's mental state at the time it plays in the game, like I think it should have ended a lot more chaotically or something.🤔

Don't listen to the others, Kieran is not "edgy and obsessed with power". Most people don't seem to understand Kieran. The truth is that during the first part of the DLC our character, his only friend, lies to his face alongside his sister who is verbally and emotionally abusive (and one of her lines maybe hints at physical abuse too) towards him. We hide the fact that we met Ogerpon, who he admires, from him. And when he eventually learns it, he legitimately gets upset. But no matter that we're a liar an broke his trust. Everyone still loves us, even the legendary Pokémon he admires since he's a kid. You accurately noticed how Kieran is a pretty meta character. Because no matter how much we screw him over, we're still the protagonist. And as such, everything goes our way, no matter how it makes the people around us in this world feel. And at the end Ogerpon wants to join us. This is when Kieran can't stay silent anymore, as this isn't fair. We hurt his emotions and we get rewarded with his childhood dream ? This dream is all he has to help him go through his awful life with Carmine's abuse. We took away the friendship we had with him, we took away his trust in others, and now we take away his dream ? He fights us, trying to prevent this, but he's not strong enough. We beat him and capture Ogerpon. From this point on, we taught him something. We taught him that fairness doesn't matter. That the strong get to do whatever they want, and that what the weak think doesn't matter. Because he was "the weak", and we showed him how much his feelings matter to us. Not at all. So in the Indigo Disk, he's a lot more agressive, but it's not because he is bad. It's his insecurity speaking. He's just a kid who needs help. Eventually, we battle him again. At the beginning of the battle, he lets out a huge scream which expresses his anger, frustration and pain. We beat him again, which crushes him. He trained this whole time, he wanted to make us feel everything that we made him feel, but despite everything, we're still stronger than him. With his spirit crushed, he doesn't know what to do. Until his teacher Ms. Briar asks us to join her in an expedition to find Terapagos. A legendary Pokémon. If he had that power, he could finally beat us. At that point, he's barely standing mentally. He feels so close to having a breakdown, but with the idea of catching Terapagos, he pushes himself forward. Eventually, we find Terapagos, in a dormant crystal form. Kieran manages to awaken it, but as soon as it wakes up, it starts walking towards us. To Kieran, this is the Ogerpon situation all over again, so he panicks and quickly throws a Master Ball at Terapagos and catches it. Then we battle but we beat him again. Ms. Briar tells him to terastallize Terapagos (Terastallisation being the mechanic of this game which originates from Terapagos). Doing so causes Terapagos to become immensly powerful... and out of control. Kieran tries to bring it back into its Ball but it breaks it. Terapagos then attacks Kieran, but we protect him. This is when Kieran's character starts to change again, and you can see it in the way he looks at our character, surprised. He starts to realize that despite everything we did, we do care, and this is his first step towards forgiveness. Then we and his sister Carmine try to fight Terapagos to stop it from being out of control. But her Pokémon were weakened and we quickly find ourselves alone against it. Kieran can't move, he realizes that the situation they're in is his fault, and he's trapped in his own guilt. But eventually, we call out to him. For his help. And thanks to the little hint of forgiveness from when we saved his life from Terapagos' attack earller, he snaps out of it and joins us. He lets out a scream again, but this one is different. It's not a scream where he expresses his anger, frustration and pain. Instead this scream sets them free. And you can see after this that a huge weight left his shoulders, and together we defeat Terapagos. Now we need to catch it once and for all. Kieran is forgiving us, and he knows that if anybody can catch Terapagos, it's us. So he encourages us to do so. We catch it and all's well that ends well. Kieran apologizes for what he did, and Ms. Briar also apologizes, as it was her who brought them into this situation with how she really, really wanted to see Terapagos' true power. One problem I have is that Carmine though, she never apologizes for what she did. It's partially because of her abuse of Kieran that he went down this path. But she never even seems to realize that she's abusive. I mean that's accurate to a lot of abusive people in real life, but it's a fictional story. She should have eventually realized and improved herself. Bad writing on that part, Game Freak. Kieran is my favorite Pokémon character, and one of the deepest alongside Zinnia (which you should also listen to her themes). A shame most people don't understand Kieran and treat him like he's just an edgy brat.

Now only Champion Battle Theme and Ogerpon Battle Theme are left for you to listen :D

Pokémon and Touhou fan here!

I just posted another comment on your Kieran battle video, but gonna continue that comment here. Again, SPOILERS. Part 1 of the Scarlet Violet DLC is called The Teal Mask, and Part 2 is called The Indigo Disk. The Teal Mask refers to Ogrepon, the Pokemon on the left of the second video, while the Indigo Disk refers to Terapagos who is indeed the Pokemon on the right with all the elements. A big part of the Scarlet Violet games is the mystery surrounding the phenomenon known as Terastalizing, which allows a Pokemon to change their Type during a battle. So Charizard would go from Fire/Flying to just Electric for example. After you defeat Kieran in the Champion Battle, a teacher (Ms. Briar) studying the phenom is granted permission to travel into Area Zero which is believed to hide the secrets of this phenom. She invites you, Kieran and Carmine to travel with her into Area Zero to explore. You eventually reach the Area Zero Depths and inside find a slumbering Terapagos. Kieran, with the encouragement from Briar awakens Terapagos, but it spots you first and initially starts walking towards you. Kieran, still not over Ogrepon choosing you over him, and still hurt from his recent loss to you, uses a Master Ball on Terapagos to instantly capture it for himself. Terapagos is known as The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero, so Kieran wanting to finally beat you, challenges you to a fight with Terapagos to show he can win, and will do using this apparent all powerful legendary Pokemon. That is the source of Theme 1. Unfortunately, Kieran once again loses and falls further into despair. Briar, not the most observant to Kieran's plight, being so single minded focused on studying Terapagos is also off put by how easily Terapagos is defeated. She encourages Kieran to Terastalize Terapagos in hopes that will bring out its true strength. He does so, which causes Terapagos to take on a new form not shown in either video where it has a massive elemental crown, a globe like half sphere, and a mini turtle now magically spinning above its body. It however cannot control this power and begins to essentially threaten the lives of everyone else in the cave. Kieran attempts to return Terapagos into its Master Ball but it instead shatters the Master Ball (a jaw drop moment for Pokemon fans). The second theme is the battle theme for Terastalized Terapagos as you fight to try and defeat it with the help of Carmine, and then once she is defeated, Kieran joins your side to help the fight and eventually subdue Terapagos to prevent it from causing untold destruction. The ending part of the 2nd theme is Kieran coming to terms with how his behavior nearly led to everyone's deaths and caused so much harm and asks you to recapture Terapagos instead as part of his way of atoning for the trouble he caused. You later learn that Terapagos, in addition to containing the power of every single Type within it's body, can also manipulate time and is able to bring beings from other alternate timelines into your current timeline. So its a very powerful god like being, despite being what essentially is a little fluffy turtle.

Regarding the two legendary Pokemon, they technically aren't related to each other. The green one (Ogrepon) is the main Pokemon of the first DLC for Scarlet and Violet, the Teal Mask. The turtle (Terapagos) is the main Pokemon of the second DLC, the Indigo Disk. But Ogrepon is still important to Kieran's story, as it was the catalyst for Kieran turning against the protagonist. Our main character powers caused Ogrepon to partner with us instead of Kieran. So Kieran would make sure that we wouldn't take another legendary Pokemon away from him...

Terapagos is quite a big deal from a scientific lore perspective. It has the ability to change the properties of matter and energy through terastylization, or the crystals it produces. Is ice not hot enough? now it is. Do you lack the electricity to power your absurd machine? Now you do. Is your computer's AI too taxing for your modern tech? Now it's more powerful than ever.

Ash is, or was until 2023, the protagonist of the Pokemon anime, and of Pokemon Yellow if you will. In the fall of 2022, Ash defeated the #1 ranked Pokemon Trainer and became the world champion thus concluding his tale and allowing for a set of new characters to carry on with the story. In regard to the Pokemon games, each generation has their own protagonists and self contained story but the series often calls back on past games and some past characters even return in some games to aid the new protagonists, this is to ensure Pokemon always satisfies new and old fans.

I love the game as a whole but it did get a lot of much deserved backlash. To this day it's still buggy and sometimes borderline unplayable. The DLC was great though and a big step up in terms of story for Pokémon. I think it did a really good job of tying up loose ends and gave us my new favorite Pokémon in the Teal Mask. Music is amazing as always, I hope Toby Fox works with Game Freak again.

Something you pointed out that i want to expound on. You mentioned that "kieran and terapogos" don't have anything relating to another track, and that's on purpose. "Kieran and Terapogos" is basically terapogos phase 1. The main melody is the exact same as "Terapogos," but there is one thing that makes "Kieran and Terapogos" Kieran's. The BASS. That emotional bass is kieran lashing on one final time, trying to prove his worth to you and himself. He does lose but accepts his lot in life as he helps you beat Terapogos. One more thing that solidifies that the bass is Kieran is that in all of the tracks relating to kieran, a bass is present. The nail in the coffin is that in Terapogos proper, no bass is anywhere in the track because Kieran isn't its trainer anymore. Thank you if you read all this.

Go Ichinose has been on the Pokemon sound team since forever. If you hear a Pokemon theme with a hyperactive bass, it's always him. He arranged the Area Zero adjacent themes, while Toby Fox wrote the Area Zero melodic motif.

Everything about this game except the performance is an A+ 😅 The Pokémon designs, the human characters, the story and music are all some of the best in the series. Also the best game in terms of quality of life and ease of access into competitive battling.

I was looking forwards to this one! It really pulls off that 'crystallized' sound really well, IMO.

This gen of Pokemon's gimmick is called tera types, Meaning a Pokemon can chance it's typing, For example a Charizard is Fire/Flying type but you can tera it into a Water type Charizard and it would not be weak to water anymore cause Fire is weak to Water still in the games, Terapagos is that turtle Pokemon you see and it has all the types on it's shell.

Kieran and Terapagos is definitely my favorite of the five themes. It's funny you mention Touhou, it's one of Toby Fox's main inspirations for music, and he did a lot of music for Scarlet/Violet. Terapagos' battle theme has motifs from the Raid Battle theme and the Koraidon/Miraidon battle theme, which Toby Fox wrote, and the Academy, Overworld, and Area Zero themes, which Toby wrote the main melody for and Go Ichinose arranged them for various parts of the game. I'm not 100% on whether Toby was involved with the Terapagos motif, which was also in Kieran and Terapagos, or if it was just Ichinose.

To answer your question at the end, most of the time each new generation of Pokemon will feature a new cast of characters and a new story. Occasionally previous characters from older generations will appear as cameos in newer games, like your player character and rival from Red, Blue, and Yellow, appear in several games after the original release. And sometimes they may even come with new remixes of their battle themes. An older generation may also get a set of remake games midway through a newer generation and sometimes those remakes will make nods and references to newer characters that didn't exist at the time of the original release. For example, Gen 3 was Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire on the Gameboy Advance. During the Gen 6 era of games, which was Pokemon X and Y on the Nintendo 3DS, Ruby and Sapphire got remakes called Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire and there are slight changes made to the original story where characters make references to characters and events of X and Y that now affect the (at the time) current Pokemon World lore.

Jesse, I appreciate you understanding the tropes and going "the cuter a legendary is, the more terrifying they are in battle", but there are two DLC for Scarlet and Violet. The first gives you Ogerpon the mon on the left, second gives you Terapagos the mon on the right. I'm surprised the requester used Pokeli for one and not the other because I feel like they cut the three phases together better, and the video content gives a lil bit of the context you were asking for with regards to their relationship. (But I also respect that I think the first battle is nice for "hey, continuing the story from Kieran 1/2/3 in the last vid" whereas I think the music stands alone a lot better for vs. Terapagos, so maybe it might have been a bit distracting to have the video context at the same time.)

I was waiting for this so much, I hope someone requests Area Zero Underdepths to conclude the cycle of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

This game performance wise ( And some textures) are bad. But this game really makes up for it. Its such a good Pokemon game otherwise! I believe this is the most common take on this game too

Both songs were composed by Rei Murayama and Go Ichinose, although Toby Fox also composed part of the second song since it uses the Area Zero motif, which he composed. In the second video, Terapagos is indeed the Pokemon on the right, from the Indigo Disk, the second part of the DLC. The Pokemon on the left is Ogerpon, from the Teal Mask, the first part of the DLC, and is completely unrelated to all of this. The Terapagos themes are so good. They feel so uplifting out of context, but the context of Terapagos (especially as The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero) being a serious threat to the entire region gives it such dichotomy. Especially since, as far as we can tell, Terapagos itself means no harm and is just a swell little guy, but it just carries way too much power to control. I just wish they gave us literally any answers about the overarching lore behind the story because there's so many things that still don't make sense, and it feels like they're saving them for the anime, but Terapagos had so much potential to be an even bigger thing than it was.

The first time I heard the Kieran & Terapagos theme in-game was the only time in a Pokemon game that I've gone "Holy shit, this goes hard.".

Spoiler warning In the second song the left Pokemon is ogerpon. It may look evil coz of the mask but it's very cute underneath and just want to be loved 🥺. First time I saw it in trailer , I assumed a prankster legendary but when I actually saw it in the game I fell in love 😭. Which goes well with its theme btw. Misunderstood pokemon. And it plays a huge part in keirans transformation And most new gen got a theme through. This is a Spanish region and its theme is around the infamous El Dorado . All the stories(there are like five) are on the theme (finding "your" treasure)

For more clarification about the credits, Rei Murayama and Go Ichinose composed the first song which is officially called Battle! (Terapagos) while Ichinose arranged it. The second song which is officially called Battle! (Terapagos - The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero) was composed by Murayama, Ichinose, and Toby Fox, and arranged by Ichinose. I don't think Toby has stated if he directly worked on the song but is likely credited because throughout it you can hear the songs, Tera Raid Battle! that he composed, and Area Zero which he also composed which was then arranged by Ichinose. These are the first songs to be composed by Rei Murayama so I'm hoping we hear more from him, especially because he has no other song credits, even outside of Pokemon, that I can find. It's interesting because he's only been a programmer for gamefreak so it's cool to hear some compositions from him. Now Go Ichinose is probably the composer with most credits for the Pokemon series and I love him! You can tell when your listening to an Ichinose song because of the bass and percussion. Him and Hitomi Sato are my favorite composers for the series. They have been constantly dropping bangers over the years. Shame that the only Sato songs you've listened to are Driftveil City and Fight: Volo, She is super underrated.

Since it was officially announced earlier this week that Derek Connolly is working on a cinematic adaption of Eternal Champions, I guess I'll nominate the 1993 game's soundtrack as something worth checking out?

After losing to you he becomes angry and so tunnel visioned on power to beat you, so when he finds the crystal and talks about how you're so great and you managed to befriend his sister and everyone. You also by this point have caught the legendary pokemon Kierran originally wanted to find for a while having known Ogerpon's true intent (Ogerpon being the legendary in question) and yet you show up and everyone including Ogerpon loves you. His second battle theme is played as he fights you for Her ownership and after he loses he becomes like this. Because of this he goes out of control and changes terapagos's form unable to contain and return it to its ball almost getting attacked in the process, leaving you and his sister to fight it. At one point she's no longer in the fight forcing Kierran to snap out of it and help you. After this event he apologises. Ogerpon's theme is really good too i reccomend it. Ogerpon's the other legendary you saw next to terapagos. I won't get into it but Ogerpon's backstory being related to a trio of other mons and a mythyical pokemon, its a really sad story

Aaah, this song. Amazing way of capping off the DLC, great palate cleanser after so much shit behind it- but let's not focus on the negatives. Spoilers ahead btw!! Now that you have the backing of what Kieran's themes sound like, a very interesting undercurrent shows up in these two themes. To quickly summarize the scenario, Kieran captures Terapagos and fights you with it, then Terapagos goes out of control and you fight the turtle by itself: The main line to notice here is how Terapagos supplants Kieran. The bass is going absolutely _wild_ as Kieran has another tantrum (the situation wasn't exactly solved with his previous fight, y'see), but Terapagos' chimes absolutely overshadows it. It's a very interesting forewarning that Kieran does _not_ have this neutral force under complete control. And Terapagos theme? Well, you've had the Tera phenomenon all over the place during your playthrough. The Tera Raids sticking out of the ground all over, Area Zero's almost eldritch energy. Now it's time to put all those melodies together, because you're finally meeting the source of all that energy. I do find it very interesting how the bass seems to be different as well, by the way! >"When I hear choirs, I think it's towards the end of the game" >"I feel focused." Yeah this uh, this is basically the final final final boss. That'd merit the choir and the heavy energy, haha. >"This part here sounds like a Touhou song." Blame Toby, lmfao. He composed the main Tera Raids melody, if memory doesn't fail me, and I'm not sure how involved he was on this finale theme. >"Seeing these two, they don't look like a good time to fight." Left is Ogerpon, final boss of DLC 1. Right is Terapagos, final boss of DLC 2. Yep, threatening sounds about right. Ogerpon has a blast of a theme too, of course! XD >"Wow. Wasn't expecting that." >"Considering this is towards the end of the song, could this be a fanfare to the theme?" This song has several pieces to it as you whittle down the boss' health bar. And the last piece plays while you are given the chance to capture the Legendary, so yeah.

I love both of these themes, but I feel like the first one is so underrated. I especially love the whole part at 2:10

Next I would suggest you listen to the Ruinous Quartet and The Tera Raid Den themes

Tbh you should’ve listened to vs tarapagos after : area zero and the tera raid theme.

This is actually my favourite Kieran theme lol, I just love the bass.

I'd love for you to hear and react to the final battle theme against Smithy from the Switch version of Mario RPG if you haven't heard it already

Too bad that this theme and history has to be to in the 35 BUCKS dlc of a 60 BUCKS game it's a shame man,it's much money for a full game that is buggy too nah😂

Kieran's full story here, as I understand it. Longer than I meant for it to be. The first DLC takes us to Kieran's hometown, where we hear the local legends he grew up with of the ogre in the mountains. Kieran always had that childhood fascination with the scary monster in the mountains and wanted to be it's friend one day. We go on to meet the ogre, and befriend it in a turn of events. Kieran takes a poor reaction to this, feeling he should be owed the ogre's partnership since he had wanted that for so long. He turns hostile and insists we fight him for the right, disregarding the ogre's own opinion on the matter. He runs off after losing, cursing his own weakness for not being able to win that battle and swears to become stronger to overcome us. The second DLC takes us to Kieran's school where we temporarily enroll as an exchange student. We learn Kieran has since turned from a shy gentle kid to a battle fiend obsessed with strength and putting down others who fail to meet his example. He has taken over the battle club by force and the former club leader cleverly enrolls us in the group, hoping we can knock him down a peg or two. We do. After all this both us and him are asked to come along on a certain scientific expedition as the two strongest trainers in the school. We discover a special crystal deep underground and Kieran rushes ahead to call first dibs. The crystal let's off a surge of energy, and the mythical Terapgos bursts forth from within, past Kieran. Terapagos emerges from it's slumber and happens to see us first. Kieran, terrified of a repeat in history, quickly throws a Master Ball to claim the pokemon before we get a chance. He immediately insists on fighting us with it, and we beat him again. After the battle Terapagos' power begins surging and it stops listening to Kieran's commands, even breaking his Master Ball. We engage in a multiphase boss fight against it and while Kieran sulks for failing again at first, he joins us to help win the final phase. After all this settles Kieran finally mellows out again and the DLC ends with him asking if we can still be friends.
