Indeed, the size of the Pokemon when they're following you around is what the Pokemon should've looked like in the actual Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl games. A missed oppurtunity, it truly was.

The weirdest part is that the way they are in vanilla isn't the actual scale of the models - the models themselves are all accurately sized, the game just scales them up or down

It really does look better this way.

@@clothieredward5248 Hard disagree. You saw how the bigger pokemon like Wailord blocked off like 80% of the screen. They're scaled down for a reason, and that reason is so you can actually play the game.

@@PlayerZeroStart I can see you never played Colosseum or Gale of Darkness because those games had pokemon scaled properly and you had no issues seeing pokemon because the camera adjusted accordingly. Not to mention all the info on the pokemon (HP and Name) is always kept on the same parts of the screen and is never hidden. Unless you're talking about overworld models and yeah duh of course they should be scaled down then

@@coltonkleins the model of the pokemon obvisoulsy doesn't have any collision activate so there is no way you could be soft lock anywhere, and again yes, in that current state the pokemon block your view, but there are ton of ways to prevent this problem and still have your companion following you, and in fact, wailord is really the only pokemon that get this problem because he is WAY larger than any other, so yeah they could have shrink wailord by half his size i agree, but for 99% of the pokemon there is no problem at all

I wish you could mod the game without hacking your switch and losing online features, it looks so neat!

It would be highly impractical and everyone would just complain about all the clipping and getting stuck on pokemon or some pokemon not fitting in citys. its fucking horrible for gameplay and if you knew jack shit about game development you'd know every fucking reason why it will never work.

The issue is largely that the games have kept the screen about the same as in all of the 2D games. Close together trainers and a certain amount of space that a model is allowed to take up. If they would just drop this and make a larger battle area like in Revolution the problem would be solved. As for following Pokémon I mean - yeah just scale them down but make sure big ones actually look big behind you.

I mean... Would you want 90% of your screen to be nothing but a blue float whale? Games greatly scales down the Pokemon for the better so the player can actually see the game. Otherwise, you have a lot of issues. Its funny for a bit, becomes very unfunny very quickly.

That happened to me with the name "Plink" XD I'm a girl and usually only pick the girl protag, but I got bored in X one day and chose a guy, named em Plink, and gave him a beanie. That became my favorite X playthrough ever and any future protags became reincarnations of Plink in my headcanon *multiverse.*
