Welcome to my walkthrough series of Pokemon Stadium! In this playthrough, I will cover the gameplay of all the Pokemon Stadium Cups (including Pokemon Stadium R2): Gym Leader Castle, Poke Cup, Prime Cup, Pika Cup, Petit Cup, and the final showdown against Mewtwo: the final boss of this game! I really hope you enjoy this Pokemon Stadium no commentary series.

Prime Cup (Japanese: ウルトラカップ Ultra Cup) is one of the four Stadium Cups in Pokémon Stadium.
In Pokémon Stadium, the Prime Cup is the only Cup that does not originate from Pokémon Yellow's Colosseum 2. Instead, it is based on the regular Colosseum battles, which have no special limitations. As a result, all Pokémon, including powerful Legendary Pokémon such as Mewtwo, are allowed. There are no level restrictions in the Prime Cup, so all of the opponents will have level 100 Pokémon.
This is the only area in the Pokémon Stadium series where Mew can be used. In Pokémon Stadium, the male Cooltrainer will have a Mew during the final battle of the Prime Cup Master Ball division. Also, Mew will be available as a rental Pokémon for Pokémon Stadium's Round 2 Prime Cup.
In Pokémon Stadium, there are four levels of difficulty: Poké Ball, Great Ball, Ultra Ball, and Master Ball.

Man, Rhydon deserves the MVP prize for completely annihilating all three of Lab Man’s Pokémon and two of the finalist’s (not to mention tanking a hit from Mew while dealing some damage to the latter).

Gotta hate how the rental pokemon were handled. They give the weaker unevolved pokemon better moves and the stronger evolved ones had mostly shit moves.

Yup. The game was purposely designed in such a way that you must actually bring out your own pokemons if you want to fully enjoy this game. They made rentals bad on purpose to incentivize players to bring their own GB pokemons…

Prime Cup Master Cup difficulty is challenging with Rentals, especially in R2. I like how the last opponent actually has a Mew.

Yeah and the last opponent ALWAYS choose Mew among his 4 pokemons but he never leads with it

Back in the day, my buddies were watching me play through Prime Cup in an attempt to unlock Surfing Pikachu. I remember getting to that battle and literally shitting bricks seeing that he had a Mew. I had never faced one before, let alone ever seen one in-game, and after facing Mewtwo in the games, I had no idea what to expect. 😅

I couldn't beat this cup when I used to have this game. I only had rental pokemon to use since I never had any of the old pokemon games.

How did you managed to use your own pokemon and record it? I have a nintendo 64 with orginals games and the controller pack, I want to do the same like you did, some moves from gen 2 for gen 1 pokemon and challenge myself by beating all the cups with a team with all the same type. But I cant figure out how to play on smart tv and record it, can you share your expierence? Great video btw :)

Dude…. I had some questions when you selected you team… all good Pokémon but not my first choice with rhydon and electabuzz… but anyways I managed to get to the final with 4 continues…. And at this point I started referencing your video. I watch you beat the final guy with the mew. I had questions about those two Pokémon but your game looked like a joke. So… I said let’s try it for the first time…. I start rhydon he started electrode…. Same outcome. Then came snorlax! I was like holy crap this is the same as the video I just watched!!! My rhydon also got flashed and the battle with snorlax went almost identical. I tried earthquake and even got a first try Crit but he soon healed. So I went for fissure. Missed once then hit…. So now I was 3-1 up with just mew to go…. I was like omg this dudes team is actually gunna win me this…. I have never been more tempted to use fissure In my life…. And sure it may have worked… but I stuck with the plan. Hit mew with earthquake and then I was dead and onto electabuzz… thunder wave- thunder punch till I die…. Finally I had good old Lapras to come in and sweep. At this point looking back it was pretty much always in the bag… dose mew have a healing move? I ice beamed and left mew on 1 hp! Like now way. Course he hit me and nearly killed me but… now I was to attack first and I had a 100 percent accurate ice beam to take out 1 hp remaining….. like…. Game set and match…. Thank god man I had such a hard time with the other master ball cup that getting this one done quick was really nice! On to round 2 I guess!!!

It seems that your team choice, even though it wasn’t your first pick, really paid off! It’s great that you stuck to the plan and kept your cool during the battle. The fact that your Rhydon was affected by Flash and the fight with Snorlax played out similarly to what u saw in the vid is amazing. And that strategy with Lapras was brilliant! As for Mew... it doesn’t have a specific healing move, but its versatility and moves can be surprising. Good luck in R-2!

@@ChrisPTY507 mewtwo the first one was a joke…. Electrode went thunderwave into flash till death. Then Persian came in with 2 or 3 screech and ended mewtwo with a single hyper beam. I had a whole team of options… meowth and muk for screech. Another thunder wave setter. I think maybejynx… but yeah. I only needed electrode and Persian. To easy. I’ve started round 2 now. Also. What’s mewtwos move set for round 2? Should I take a ditto and transform into mewtwo after I thunder wave him? Seems atleast like it would be fun

Also. I have full access to all the game boy games. Prolly 3 copies of each blue red and yellow. Playing on n64 and I have 2 transfer packs. I could be playing this on easy mode. Not to mention all those cartridges are full of OP Pokémon… who would walk thru round 2 like it was a joke. That’s not the challenge I was looking for tho. This all started for me 2 days ago when I saw a video on RU-vid about how Pokémon stadium is maybe none of the hardest games to beat (with rentals) in the Pokémon franchise…. So I was like challenge accepted obviously! I will how ever say I am def a gen 1er and as much as I love all the games…. I’m not looking forward to Pokémon stadium 2. The game seems…. Not as well put together. There seems to be a lot more… lag or load times. It’s just not nearly as crisp. And gen 2 moves I’m not as familiar with as I should be. As much as I’d like it to be I don’t think I’ll Enjoi stadium 2 quite this much. But it’s def getting done.

The last round is SO DUMB and based on LUCK with Rental Pokemons!!! I had to sacrifice 2 Psy pokemon to waste ALL the Psychic attacks of Mew to finally finish him with Rhydon. Arcanine... Fine... Earthquake, done after eating a Dig! Mew comes... Kadabra and Exeggutor are sacrificed to empty Psychic... He decided to switch Snorlax and I have the luck to kill him with Fissure after 3 attempts while Snorlax used Reflect and Double-Edge. And 2 Earthquake to finish Mew who mashed Tri-Attack... Oof... Just to get the Doduo-Dodrio GB Tower to make Gen 1 gameboy game enjoyable today... THAT IS SO DUMB!!! And victory is NOT ENJOYABLE and well deserved!

Not gonna lie, you had a very favorable run with a great amount of luck. No legendary birds, rival throws out electrode first turn AND misses on Flash. Gengar Hypnosis miss. All details that couldve likely cost 1 continue throughout.

Not a single unlucky Fissure or Horn Drill that always hits Atleast 1x per Gambler fight, then Gambler miraculously switches out Slowbro instead of just letting it die, and gives Kadabra 2 free hits on Dragonite.

@@ChrisPTY507i wouldnt say lucky, i would say i was unlucky. Had the same lineup you had and dragonite did 3 fissures in a row... and they all worked! Theyre only supposed to be 30%. I was pissed. Wasted a continue. I will say I got all the way to the end with your pokemon and lost to Mew... not the same against me... i think i am going to keep your pokemon lineup except for lapras... when lapras gets put against another ice/water pokemon he always loses because he has no other attack. Going to try Kabutops or Amonyte because they have other options (body slam, etc). But well done sir and thanks for the tips!
