Okay, okay, last Blastoise vid, I swear!
My first Blastoise vid involved guaranteed crits by doing Focus Energy and holding a Razor Claw, but I also mentioned that both forms of Urshifu's signature moves (Wicked Blow and Surging Strikes) both had innate guaranteed crits, and therefore might be an alternative to guaranteed-crit Drain Punch strats - which, for the record, Urshifu can also do.
So why not test it out?
(Because starting up an alt savefile in Sword, reaching Kubfu, and then resetting for an Adamant one takes an hour or two, that's why. It'd be even worse if I wanted a 1/8 female!)
0:00 - Single Strike Style Urshifu (dark)
Dark Urshifu seems obviously worse than Water Urshifu, from the simple fact that it takes double damage from everything (it's neutral to water/steel and weak to fighting, whereas Rapid Strike Style resists water/steel and is neutral to fighting), but it does have one advantage: in knowing a bunch of dark attacks instead of water attacks, it gains access to Snarl, letting it actually debuff Blastoise into dealing less than half damage.
...Well, as shown in this run, that still doesn't really make up for it. Having to reapply debuffs after each debuff-wipe takes a lot of time, and Snarl always has a 5% chance to miss.
I almost timed out! Honestly I was really disappointed with this strat, I take back what I said about these always-crit moves being decent alternatives...
10:00 - Rapid Strike Style Urshifu (water)
Not having to spend turns on Snarl means that Water Urshifu can start off immediately with the Swords Dance buffs and then sustain itself with (non-crit) Drain Punch x3 on the shield before terastallizing and spamming Surging Strikes... which brings up the one downside to this form:
all three individual hits of Surging Strikes show the Critical Hit! message, making you lose a significant amount of time!
One fun part of this run (just like Vaporeon's) is being able to use Blastoise's Rain Dance against it, though, so at least there's that.
Overall: not actually worth using Wicked Blow/Surging Strikes strats. If you really wanted to use Urshifu then you'd probably be better off just doing Focus Energy + Razor Claw strats with Drain Punch spam... but there are better choices for that. Honestly, I'm not even sure this strategy would have worked if it weren't for Gardevoir and Bellibolt support. It's a shame!
