Bakugan was the shit when I was a kid. Especially when they had the gold ones that were really hard to find unless you got one at an arcade. Pokémon on the other hand does have the same storyline in every series and same for the video games just different monsters and a new team that does the same thing as the last. At least until Sword and Shield
Digimon Story games are more interesting than Pokémon games, but Pokémon has a basic formula that just works. It gets boring after a while, but people keep buying the games. Still waiting for Digimon Survive. Hopefully we finally get it this year 🤞🏽
agreed. love that digimon reinvent itself even if the design/idea is bad. like digimon world 2 (my first game), i loved that game to bits but questionable game mechanics (dna digivolve to lower form to get better mon/higher lv). and glad they still stick to turn based for cyber sleuth series n for digimon survive. edit : didnt realise i posted the same reply twice >
Nope get screwed over with the same stale turn based garbage with reused assets from 9 years ago. Digimon is like a starchild that was disowned by its parents because it was successful and then when it falls is the only time bandai looks at it punches it in the face and leaves.
Both of you are wrong. Outside of the anime, Pokemon plots change with each gen. Sure, protagonist is doing the same thing, but the plot actually doesn't revolve around them, they kinda just get absorbed into the plot that revolves around the evil teams. Rocket, crime boss doing crime shit. Magma/Aqua, expand the land/sea. Galactic, reshaped the universe with no emotion. Plasma, take over the world with false liberation. etc. etc. And Digimon is far from a joke. Just because one is top dog in sells doesn't mean you should think less of number 2. Digimon still makes anime and games (games of which have been better received than Pokemon games that release in the same time window btw) that are still enjoyed. Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth, Digimon Adventure Tri, Digimon World: Next Order, Digimon Last Evolution - Kizuna, Digimon Adventure 2020, Digimon Ghost Game, the upcoming Digimon Survive. Hell, Digimon is far less reluctant to grow up along its audience and start promoting to more mature fans, whereas Pokemon still seems to dumb down story beats and handhold players, only really starting to subvert that with it's most recent release of Legends Arceus, actually trusting it's players to know what Pokemon are without them needing to explain every little thing (Seriously, more Pokemon games need a "Skip the damn tutorial" option. I've been following this franchise for 20 years, I think I know what the fuck I'm doing).
As a fan of all three at some point in my life, Bakugan was much more well known, but digimon was the better fit for a rival. I don't know what Pokemon did to gain such a mass following but it worked😂
Pokémon let's u have slave that u force to fight for your entertainment and they even let you give the slave fake love just to evolve them then abandon them forever in a box full of other slaves he caught

Digimon and bakugan are both still a thing though. I mean. Neither of them are close to as popular as Pokémon, but they're still making new games and anime.
Digimon didn't get canceled it just gothroigh patches of having absolutely nothing being made, as a fan of both I'm glad that digimon is doing really great in its card game right now and it's current anime
Update : We're going through another "no anime" phase. Ghost Game could have lasted another well deserved 50 episodes if they didn’t have anything to replace it with. Such is the digimon cycle.

Nah I ain't gonna let people treat Bakugan like that. Shit when I was in school we had 3 lunch tables full with cards and about 10 to 15 people playing at once and we would remember just how far we made it into the game and which cards belonged to everyone it was a whole ass system. Hell I lost a friend over it because I traded his a shitty Bakugan and the next day he wanted it back and I said fuck that it's mine now. They called his father in and everything he was throwing a whole ass tantrum in the classroom and everything. Luckily the teacher realized that it was a trade and card game and whatever trade was made he had to honor it. I was smart enough to leave the Bakugan at home that day. The school already knew me as the kid that would beat the shit out of someone one day then pull this shit to them the next so they basically had a policy when dealing with me. I got suspended for pushing 3 girls that chased and cornered me even though I was outnumbered I was the only one who got in trouble. The last time I pulled this on someone was in the 7th grade. This dude agreed to give me Pokemon black version 2 when it had just came out if I gave him all of my good Pokemon cards. I went home got a ziplock bag and put complete trash in it( basically the weakest cards imaginable) when we made the trade I stood up looked him in the eyes and said no trade backs and walked off on him. He never spoke to me again and he never snitched gotta give him props for that. But the show is still amazing and the Bakugan games are still amazing to play even to this day. I still bring out my Wii just to play Bakugan only.
I always thought digimon the show was better than pokemon the show, but pokemon games were better than digimon games. I think I still stand by that (though overall I'm a fan of both).

digimon is still going. New digi vices, new shows, new games digimon might not have the fan base pokemon has, but they're going harder for their fans than pokemon ever has.
I watched Pokémon and Digimon but I have to say Pokemon was the best. With that being said I still made sure I was up early every Saturday morning to watch new episodes from both series.
All the first three seasons of Digimon are really good especially 1st and 3rd. Digimon all the way, Pokemon is pure nostalgia and i play their games more, but Digimon is better to me,
We're just ignoring that Digimon is actually still happening. Like, it may have gotten cancelled, but they kept making animes. Digimon Adventure 2020 happened, Ghost Game is happening (to my knowledge) and Survive just came out not too long ago. Also Digimon and Pokemon are completely different I will die on this hill. They literally have one of the most successful TCGs in the west right now surpassing DBS and Vanguard, it's Bandai Namcos 2nd highest grossing franchise behind Tekken, has been getting new seasons of the anime( the Adventure Reboot and Ghost Game) regularly, a new movie set to come out for Adventure 02,has a mobile game with well over 2 million players(Rearise), Cyber Sleuth and Hacker's Memory sold over a million units globally, Survive passed 500,000 copies sold and the franchise is on its 25th anniversary with an official festival, new gadgets like several Digivices and the Vital Bracelet.
Digimon and Pokémon started at the same time in the 90s but we got Digimon later than overseas did. It was supposed to be on the WB too but Fox out bid them for them. It went on an hiatus in the US because the creator refused to sell out and go the Pokémon route which made it hard for newer viewers to get hooked on the Main Characters and Digimon because they changed to many times to get a solid following. They also didn't have a solid mascot for the show which hurt them too.
Starting first and being more known doesn't mean it's better. Anime and game wise, Pokemon can learn a thing or two from Digimon. I mean, just look at Cyber Sleuth and compare it to Sun/Moon. And do the same with Pokemon Journeys and compare it to Adventure 2020 and Ghost Game. Digimon knows how to adapt with time, grow with its audience, and tell more mature story telling while still keeping that child like charm at its core. Pokemon still handholds tutorials to people who have played with the same mechanics for 20 years.
Digimon is literally still going on and most seasons are epic...we dont talk about Digimon fusion...or the digimon where they punch the digimon...or the digimon that are phone apps
I did like that in Digimon you could revert back to a previous Digivolution if you wanted to, but Ash couldn’t revert his Charizard back to Charmeleon. I did like Pokémon better though. However Yu-Gi-Oh is the best, hands down
Both sides of the argument sound like from people who don't know shit about the other. Digimon non-existent? Just because Pokemon took off to greater heights doesn't mean franchise ever stopped making animes and games (Some arguably better than Pokemon games) that are still going and enjoyed to this day. Digimon Ghost Game? Digimon Survive? Pokemon animal cruelty? After constant sources for decades showing that both trainer and Pokemon have to be willing participants and have some mutual respect and when a trainer is shown mistreating their Pokemon it's always looked down upon and shown as negative? Also, Pokemon being regularly shown as sentient, and battles being more akin sports like wrestling, boxing, and MMA rather than "legalized dogfights" as people like to put it. And "At least I lasted longer than Digimon" Dude, Digimon has been and still is going on. Like, new episodes weekly, new games being made, still going.

Hey I disagree, Battle Brawlers (season 1) was decent. New Vestroia (season 2) was amazing. Gundalian Invaders (season 3) was good, it's better than season 1 but worse than season 2. Mechtanium Surge (season 4) I agree, it was complete ass, it was the only season I dropped and never finished.
@@adam-dn3hi No, it was awhile ago but I have watched each season except for season 4 multiple times. Bakugan is a great anime for background noise. Also I hope we're not talking about the newest seasons, the one with dog as a brawler, I refuse to accept that as a reboot/continuation of Bakugan.

@@adam-dn3hi My opinions on Bakugan was made the last time I watched it but I do plan on rewatching it again. And yes I hate the new changes. I didn't even know about the subterra change, but I did know about the Marucho and Shun change and I hate it too. Do they even still have gate cards and ability cards, those were the aspects that made the battles in Bakugan interesting, without those then the battles are just giant creatures hitting each other until the other one gives up, that basically was season part 2 and it was one of the reason why I hated it.
I remember playing Bakugan on the Ds where you had to roll the ball on card and do goofy ass movements on the screen the white dragon one was my favorite

Pokémon and Digimon were great though Miss those old school cartoons. I’m still waiting for Medabots to become a real thing as well as MegaMan NT Warrior But Digimon Tamers with the cards was dope
