As someone who only watches gameplay of poker night 2, this really helps my understanding of what the side pot is. I couldn't figure it out for the life of me, so thank you
omg took me so long to understand and your video explained it in the simplest way possible making me feel like an even bigger fool :D great video and explanation right there!
This is an amazing example and your voice isn't annoying... Was it setup or just crazy coincidence?! Crazy... Can't believe weakest hand won strongest! Crazy twist... Lol... Good video
If 2 people have a straight, and Player 1 has "A 2 3 4 5", and Player 2 has "2 3 4 5 6", who would win? Would player one win because of the Ace? Or would player 2 win because the straight ENDS on a higher number? I never understood this.
Player 2 would win. When the ace is used as the bottom card of a straight, it's no longer considered a high card and the player as a "straight to the 5" aka a "wheel." Player two has a higher straight and wins.
I remembered when my cousin and I played online poker and she seemed to be pissed off because she thought she was supposed to get all the pots without her knowing about side pots. I tried to explain it to her but she did not get it at all. I am gonna recommend this video for those who doesn't about side pots. If I have a million dollars, I wanna play it for real but I'm poor lol
I was hoping this was a review of how to figure out multiple side pots in complicated multiway all-ins. This is pretty rudimentary. Anyone got any tips on that? It seems the best technique is start at the low stack and take equal amounts of his bet from every player and any folded hands, then each subsequent player you do the same but the amount you pull is the delta (the amount he raised the next lowest all in bet). Until you get to the big stack who just call the biggest all in at the start.
@@HK-sw3viit's unbelievable how many times I fold a 2 7 off suit and miss a straight opportunity or some crazy shit like quad 2's. I try to stick to the math these days and not make bad bets hoping for luck but man it messes with my head when I fold a "bad hand" that ends up turning out to be good, but a big pre flop bet on that hand is just stupid statistically speaking. It should usually lose you money but it messes with you when you fold it and it turns out it would've won lmao. Just gotta trust the statistics and not get tilted
This video was an amazing explanation! I knew of the side pots existence but even with a tutorial type poker app that explained it, it was still super hard to understand how it was divided up! But this was super well explained!
What if the side pot players had nothing except for high card. And the main pot player has a great hand. Will he just win the main pot only? Or will he win everything?
You said main pots were calculated from smallest bet right? what if there are 4 players. Player1, Player2, Player3, Player4 Player1 has 3$ Player2 has 5$ Player3 has 7$ Player4 has 10$ Player1 goes all in, Player2 goes all in, Player3 goes all in, Player4 calls, the main pot is now 12$, while the side pot is 22$ right? the winner is player 2, he get the main pot the second biggest hand is player 1, does he get the side pots then? or is the main pots and side pots are calculated after we have the winner?
You would have multiple side pots. **Main Pot:** You're right. The amount that all players can cover is $3, so $3x4=$12. The best hand of all 4 players wins this pot. **Side Pot 1:** $3 of Player 2's money is in the main pot. This leaves $2 remaining that they can match, and is therefore the limit of this pot. So $2 from each of Players 2, 3, and 4 gives a side pot of $6. The best hand of players 2, 3 and 4 wins this pot. **Side Pot 2:** Player 3 has $3 in the main pot and $2 in Side Pot 1, leaving a remainder of $2 for this pot. Player 4 matches it for a total of $2x2=$4 in this pot. Player 4 has $7 in across all pots and keeps the remaining $3, since no one can match that high. The best hand of players 3 and 4 takes this pot. If you would like me to clarify further I'd be happy to! The whole idea of a side pot is that you can only win what you can match.
for beginners, you better show down one by one starting from newest side pot. then they'll understand they dont take money from pots that they didnt bet. app calculate the winners instantaniously, that confuse newbies.
What Mr. Low Chips never thought to conclude is that maybe the reason he was Mr. Low Chips to begin with is because he has a fundamental lack of understanding of how the game is played.
It all makes sense now, cause recently I had like a flush out of Ace of hearts while the opponent had a KING of hearts , so the total pot was like in 25 million, yeah 25mil! Thats a lot of pot until this side pot thing was given to him/her a $23.8 million for winning a flush with just a King of hearts while I only won a main pot of $1.3 million , leaving my jaws open wide to this opponent. I felt like I didn't win anything , I felt more like I lost that bet even I had a $1 million on my pot , it just looked unfair to me to see how this opponent won more pots than I did.
I love ❤️ to watching you school poker with you , if you don't mind try to show 2-3 sides pot I still confused 🤷♀️ on that you explain nice 👍 and clearly
I thought side pockets goes first then main pot. The all in should had won the money if he went first and had a better hand. I so confused by this video
No, the side pot consists of the amount of money added to the pot that is above and beyond the shorter stack of the player that went all in. At showdown, the side pot is resolved first between the players who are invested in that pot. The winner of the side pot then goes up against the remaining player for the main pot.
Everyone matches the player with the lowest All in amount, that becomes the main pot and is locked then multiple side pots are created for the remaining players, the player who bets the highest amount is refunded the difference as nobody can match the bet, you can find more info here www.pokerlistings.com/rules-for-poker-all-in-situations-poker-side-pot-calculator
