It’s like Ness goes back in time to the Cave of the Past again to prevent a time corruption where everyone turns into a monster, but Pokey is the only human left that isn’t a monster, so fighting him is like trying to remove the last of the human species, meaning if he died, Ness would be the only human in existence, but Pokey doesn’t want to die, so fighting him is a lot more sad since he doesn’t even try to fight. Since Ness already defeated Giygas, Pokey is no longer evil in the past, since Giygas died before Pokey could leave.
@@MedioPlague Actually, the first part could have been recreated better on the GBA. They could have used the much higher quality Game Boy channels since the portion was meant to sound like an 8-bit game anyway.
Yeah. It’s got a very different vibe. Actually kinda makes the 8 bit part sound more the Porky we used to know. Oh, and why the 16 bit part sounds better to you? It’s good old GBA Bass Compression.
SNES version in a nutshell: 8bit: flawless 16bit: you are really in for a fight GBA version in a nutshell: 8bit: this sounds more depressing than the snes version 16bit: jesus pokey... calm down...
@@antiwufei553 superior in every way except audio, but not for 8bit features, but because compared to the SNES the GBA didn't had a sound chip at all, so the music had to be reworked to be processed by the CPU.
But it also has that final bowser regal feel with the lower tone than the original as well as the rock we come to expect from villains from bowser in his second phase in yoshi's island
This track is especially fantastic because the GBA is using the Gameboy BIOS and Sound Chip to create the intro, and that makes this track better than the original due to the SNES version using a sample Square and this GBA version using a legitimate wave channel
Actually, the first part does not use the Game Boy sound chip, but rather a sampled square much like the SNES version. That's why it sounds lower quality.
If I sound crazy while saying this, it's your fault. One of the samples in this theme has a tincy wincy little part, THAT IS LITERALLY THE EXACT SAME GUITAR SAMPLE AS THE ONE IN EARTHBOUND. "THE GBA CAN'T USE THE SAME SAMPLES AS A SUPER NES" MY ASS.
@@spicerom6462 Another day, another instance of telling people *consoles don't use soundfonts.* It annoys the hell out of me that people still think they do. Consoles like this have sound chips and sound processing units in them that generate waves in combination to make music. Soundfonts are a modern tool that (usually very poorly) emulate chip waves.
...one of these i need to finish my mother 1+2 save file. The problem is when my cart got updated with the English translation and the easy ring... my save file went away
Earthbound (SNES) vs. Mother 1+2 (GBA). Pokey Means Business SNES version: 8bit part is OK🙂, 16bit metal part is just horrible 🗑️garbage 🗑️ 😡 GBA version: 8bit part beginning is OK as in SNES, the other half of 8bit part got a low pitch but is kind of depressing 🥺(in everyone else's opinion) but I kind of like 8bit part, but 16bit metal part is way cooler (FYI: 16bit GBA is everyone's jam after all.) 🙂↕️
you remember that scene in brawl when Ness first show's up and save's lucas you wont know why ness is there angry and knows how to beat pokey when its supposed to be lucas's revenge its really ness's and that was 12 years ago but that scene is for mother 2 fans who saw the end credit after talking to pokey's brother before going home everyone else who still cant play mother 3 dont even know what lucas goes through in smash ultimate
@@MetalMargatroid Because this is a *high quality* rip meaning it sounds clearer, while the people uploading the SNES version record it from hardware (the SNES uses interpolation which causes that.)
man MOTHER 1+2 really sucks. Whenever I see/hear this game I like a lot better the snes version. Instead of make a remake they make a de-make. Mother 2 deluxe looks better tough.
Is it just me or does the first part (the 8-bit portion) sound like it could be in a Metroid or Zelda game? And the second part really gives me a '90s grunge feeling. Like songs by Nirvana, Pearl Jam, and Soundgarden.
The second part is them reusing the sound from Poo's Mu training!!! It's the same motorcycle revving engine sound but at a different tone/tempo. You can really hear it at 0:53
I don't care about the beginning it's still cool then when the rock begins, geez they did an awesome job for a gameboy advance port sadly we can't get it. It's only available in JP well there's emulators but it's not the same though.
How the hell did they manage to get the 8-bit part so wrong? The bass riff during the intro is a semitone lower than it should be, and the rest of the instruments are 30 cents sharp for some reason. Then after that, the rest of the 8-bit part is 70 cents flat. So not only is it all out of tune, it's also inconsistently out of tune. The metal section sounds pretty good though.
The SNES version used 8-bit samples because it wasn't made for chiptune natively. The GBA was able to use the sound chip made for backwards compatibility with the Gameboy and I'm guessing they did the best they could
One thing that is cool to know is that the specific guitar sample used in this port was also used for Undertale’s most widely known track, Megalovania.
I see where people are coming from with the 16 but section. But i still think the snes had the better thrash metal. I like the beginning 8-but part of the gba port but nothint tops the snes on this song
