The French have long dreamt of an EU controlled by Paris. The Germans have long dreamt of a France controlled by Berlin. The Poles don't dream. They instead have nightmares of all the times they have been invaded and forcibly suppressed throughout their history. And because of those nightmares, they have worked hard to become economically and militarily strong. Kudos to the Poles.

You should keep away from todays Poland, if Poland together with the West will bring you "freedom" your entire country will be taken over by international bankers and corporations and this will be the end of Belarusian nation. They will make you poor and efectivelly birth rate will drop down significantly. This is what happened in Poland after 1989. Who's denying that? The cost of said protection is what? A lower quality of life? When Poland's already in NATO and any aggression against Poland is unlikely to say the least. So what's to gain? Poland becoming a regional power? It could be a good choice in a 4+ decades but I don't see it to be honest. In my opinion it's funding that could be spent elsewhere, the biggest benefit is obviously economic influence and political influence if Poland becomes a regional power.

Westerners might look at you in a way to judge your attempts but we know the enemy at your door better than most of them. When things come to a breaking point we might all be left alone and if such a scenario ever happens you will be able to protect your own. Plus if Poland becomes stronger, it can help develop eastern parts of Europe, furthering EU's prosperity. It is also worthy to mention that a word given by a Pole is much more trustworthy than that of a Russian.

Poland and French being allies 😂 laughable. Us Poles we cannot forget your betrayal and unreliability: You were allies until Soviet Union decided to attack us during 2WW. Our envoy to France and general famously relied a message from France back to Poland about how you wanted to support us: (Polish envoy back to Poland)"I received the message by general Gamelin. Please don't believe a single word in the dispatch". You think the situation would be different this time? I can't see how the French living in Toulouse or Bordeaux enjoying their sunshine, oysters and foie gras would care about what happens in Eastern Europe. In fact, the moment the economic situation gets worse and they cannot afford those mentioned produce, then if NATO wouldn't crumble then at least you'd be perhaps sabotaging Poland or voicing opinions to stop the war, even at a cost for Poland just to relief yourself from any inconvenience. Didn't French president say that we shouldn't be humiliating Putin? One of the reasons why Poland doesn't buy military equipment from France or Germany on a large scale is to avoid a possibility of a sabotage during a conflict.

All this is publicized and used by the current party. Why doesn't the Germans sell tanks to Poland? Didn't they want to make a profit from selling 1000 machines? Why is Poland reluctant to buy French armaments? Other examples? Nuclear power plants from USA and Korea. Why are the Italians and British representatives of Western concerns? There is a division between what the Poles think, like there would be anywhere else. There are people that grew too comfortable with the long-lasting peace and live in the bubble that 'no one will attack Poland, so it's a waste', while there are also those that wish to learn from history and realize that a promise is not worth the ink to write it on paper, so peace for Poland will only last as long as Poland will have the strength to deter anyone from attacking it. This idea can be seen clearly in how EU plays an economic warfare with Poland (pressuring Poland one-sidedly for trying to implement laws that are operational for years in other countries, like Germany, with EU completely ignoring or downplaying them for said other countries). Polish economy is not strong enough right now to defend itself against that but it is growing, so they are trying to suppress it. This same thing would happen with physical warfare at some point if Poland will not have a strong enough military.

Yes it does. Poland is the top beneficiary of EU funds, by a distance. If Poland is taking steps to 'back up its commitments' its doing so with EU tax-payers money. Nato can disappear, its not 1980, we don't need nato hanging around. Russia can't beat Ukraine.

Actually, the EU does have a right. It's a part of the agreement when you join the EU. You must maintain certain domestic standards of democracy, human rights and the rule of law. If Poland doesn't want to abide by those and stop accepting EU taxpayer money, they are free to leave the EU.

I (and the rest of the NATO members I'm sure) appreciate Poland's contribution to the alliance. However, let's not pretend that Poland is not receiving anything in return. Yes, the 19th and the 20th centuries weren't too kind for us but before that in Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth we were the biggest country in Europe, had an unbeaten cavalry for close to 200 years and we were the dominant force, rescuing the European civilisation on a couple of occasions. Austrians didn't invade us because of the mountains separating us, Turks didn't get near. We only lost when both Prussia/Germany and Russia attacked us simultenously because we could defend against either of them when they tried solo. Even after the WW1, after 123 years or partition we could still fend of the Soviets in the Polish-Soviet war. So you know, quit with the victimization of Poland. In the end we always come out on top. When it comes to majors (not including some regular border skirmishes with neighbous) i.e. when the country was actually defeated, then over 1000 years we only lost to Ghengis Khan, and doube act of Hitler & Stalin. That's not a bad score.

But Germany was the nation with highest Russian energy dependency and French were the nation with highest military export to Russia. Germany and France emphasised the firn Global stance against Russian aggression. Germans dragged their feet with each and every step in supporting the victim with deference capabilities. French insisted on only European made (what they really mean was French made) ammunitions to be supplied by EU to Ukraine which will take at least a year to even set up the production capacity (albeit horrendous bureaucracy). Love and respect the great Polish people from Romania. They have suffered more than their fair share throughout history, especially under communist Russian occupation, and the dismemberment of Poland by the Stalin and Hitler. Right now Poland is the military powerhouse of the EU and rightfully so because Russia cannot be trusted under any circumstances.

I hope Romania 🇷🇴 follows Poland's 🇵🇱 example and ramps up its military modernization. Romania was always surrounded by big empires and we shouldn't take the period of peace we are living in as a given. Freedom survives through blood and fuel.

Romania has its own military endowment programs. We have been two countries at the gate of Europe for centuries and we will stay here. And if you follow the programs, they are very similar. :) There is a lot to discuss but I don't want to go into details.

Another very interesting, and delicately nuanced video. As mentioned, the relationships among Germany/Prussia, Poland and Russia/USSR go back centuries, and have more often been hostile than otherwise. Poland and South Korea have a similar geopolitical problem, surrounded by still powerful ancient enemies, and in need of an ally powerful enough to deter the old enemies, but far enough away not itself to be a danger to the country's autonomy. It's not surprising that they have reached the same conclusion, alliance with the US. The friendly relationship between the US and Poland goes back to the War of Independence when two Polish military men, Casimir Pulaski and Tadeusz Kościuszko came to teach our military and help us gain independence. Dziękuję Polsko! Przyjaciele na zawsze, niech strzegą się nasi wspólni wrogowie!

This guy was a part of a group who murdered hundreds of thousends of polish civilians in Volhynia. What they did with polish civilians you have never seen in any horror movie! I hope you will apologize for your mistake. And Ukraine to this day don't want to open their borders for Poland to find those people and give them normal ceremony in cemetery. From Denmark here: Poland is growing on me, and i think we need to accept the nation as a bigger player if we want them to stay. Yes, there are of course problems with some politics, but the polish people still seem to want the European problem, so let's keep that momentum going and maybe it can be among the other bigger players like spain and Italy.

Poland is very pro-EU, but we are more conservative on social issues. In the end, I think people should think what they believe is more important - security, freedom of movement, free trade, and so on, or punishing other societies for being more conservative?
@KrzysiekWawrytko
@KrzysiekWawrytko 8 месяцев назад
As for "problems with some politics" this is mainly propaganda. It is important to remember the whole judicial system in Poland was inherited from the previous communist totalitarian Soviet dominated state. And the judicial system was transferred with only minor changes. But all judges that were in the communist state (appointed) were transferred to new democratic state in 1989. Moreover, there is no democratic control over judges. Thay select themselves as they wish and stay all the live. I, as a citizen, would like at least to have some form of control - judges are no gods or saints. This reform was blocked by Germany (through Brussels). But even when, under unjust pressure, Poland withdrew all necessary reform, Brussel still blocks (unlawfully) the funds that duly belong to Poland. Calling it hypocrisy is using very mild words.

Polands govt do. Because what you see on your screen is built by EU funds. Poland is the top recipient, France and Germany are the top contributors. Polish are the top inter-EU migrants.
