Contemporary Poland was not really prepared, but we had two allies. whom? - Great Britain and France ... What our "allies" did only condemned the Third Reich in writing. And they announced military aid in the event of aggression. If the contemporary allies had done what Poland had announced, first of all, the civilian population would not be murdered and used by the Third Reich
@thr - outsmart the system they wouldn’t. On the 17th of September, Poland was already surrounded and encircled in some places. They were unprepared for the war.
@@ssh0ck138 maybe because, Poland had no defensive plans in the event of a german invasion until March/April 1939, for 20 years of Interwar period, Poland was only developing a plan for war with Soviet Russia.
Thats what people dont understand whilst everyone was getting attcked by Germany the poles fought the Soviets and the nazis i dont think any country would make it out like poland did
@@ghostface9369 Poland was already losing and retreating. Both Army Poznan and Army Pomorze were almost encircled and didn’t even receive direct orders on what to do. Poles fought bravely but they were just outnumbered and unprepared. The general mobilization was delayed due to the British will and the strategy was heavily dependent on what the Allies will do. As they have done nothing, Poland became doomed to fail. Period. If u don’t believe me u can easily access the data on the internet.
now, contrary to what people think, Poland had a MASSIVE army, maybe it was still in the early 1933s but 3 years and we woulld have a very good army. Poland had a large army (6th most powerful in europe by 1939). so we had a really good and well trained army, but the reason we fell so quickly was because 1. we reiled on Britain and France for help and based our plans off of the belief that they would invade Germany. 2. Germany had a (small) numerical advantage but mostly because of genius tactics and air superiority. 3. we were invaded by 2 HUGE powers. and with all of this France only held out about 10 days more whilst being invaded by only Germany and having a superior industry and army and longer to prepare so i think that Poland is the stronger country.
You cant really say poland was stronger than france, because in a 1v1 in the the 1940s they would have lost against the french. The french tanks were superior to the german tanks at one point, especially in 1v1s. But i get what you mean, poland gave their everything, and in a way fought better than the french. But norway held out longer than both, and this does not mean norway was stronger.
@@nein236 what you are saying is true and France would win in a 1v1. As for Norway, it was the terrain that made them hold out for so long as German tanks weren't able traverse the rough terrain. But the French high command fell for the same trick once more and this time, fell. So even though France was more powerful than Poland in 1939, Poland managed to defend way better and use the bad-to-defend terrain to their advantage, when the French got encircled and surrendered. So Poland was better than France but not stronger than France.
German military doctrine was quite new back then when it comes to technology. The Luftwaffe destroyed the Polish air force on day 1, this alone can lead to defeat.
@@Bruhh221 haha, they thought they were ready, found out they weren’t, then the man of steel, got down on his knees, let the allies grease his mustache with donut icing, and then later, with help, they “got” ready.
@@THINKincessantly Wasn't Denmark the same though. They went from "we're ready, we'll be the first to stop the Germans" to "please no more" in just a few hours and less than 100 casualties. Just instead of getting down on their knees to the allies, they did it to the Germans instead.
@@435cyberteam9 Firstly Denmark had what? 5 million people? Germany 80million Russia?? Big difference in potential based simply on manpower---Of course they cooperated, same tribe of people basically...Here the Germans and Europeans are, facing this threat from a foreign ran Russian government in the East hell bent on pushing their international ethno crushing policies Westward and the Western powers turn on their German brethren...the group that birthed England and later the USA and thus the entire Anglosphere, were turned on in favor of a decades old foreign ran slaughter house Russian govt turned against its own good Slavic peoples---I suggest you listen to Benjamin Fridmans 1961 hotel speech to hear the other side...thats all I have.
Y’all don’t understand that? Poland wasn’t weak as you thought, they’re literally in between Germany and USSR, any other location and they might’ve lasted a little longer.. love from Michigan USA
The biggest probelm of 1939 is that Poland joined wrong alliance. France who doesnt want to cross maginot line, and uk with bad infantry and useless battleships and cruisers that couldnt enter the baltic sea. Also high command was bad, Poland had good generals, for example when germans attacked trough łódź, Army poznan could attack them and cut off supplies. Tanks without fuel and guns without ammo dont work. Too bad that high command didnt accept that, and that army stayed in greater poland and didnt do nothing.
Chamberlain made a baseless guarantee in reality neither Churchill or Chamberlain had plans to save the East. Harsh reality but true if you look at many documents most Brit’s thought of the Polish as being too eager for war and not being willing to negotiate which they absolutely were not willing there was once a time when Hitler had attempted to form an anti Soviet alliance with the Polish the whole war was about governments on Both sides being to prideful to pull their heads out of their asses and talk millions died because of each side’s governments incompetence
not intending to do so alone, but definitely holding out for a long time, especially in the mountains in the southeast ('the Romanian bridgehead'; idea was to get supplies and communications through the border of allied Romania- not invoking the alliance); Molotov-Ribbentrop made the plan completely moto
i always found it amusing how a lot of Allied propaganda made fun of how the Germans marched (using the goosestep), but the Polish pretty much marched in the exact same way any army that goosesteps automatically looks way cooler and disciplined than if they did otherwise, no matter the ideology in my opinion also, apparently whoever made this newsreel was confused themselves from the Germanic-style of goosestepping, as you can clearly hear "Regimentsgruß Marsch" during this newsreel, which is a German march, even those this is clearly the Polish armed forces
Polish army in 1939 didn't have even such basic thing like field kitchen. Polish soldiers had to rely on campfire. 😂 This is scarry to think how much propaganda this video is.
Power of propaganda is sadly very effective. Reality was Poland had enough ammo to fight for 3 months according to Polish HQ. Army were extremely short of radios and even telephone cable. Polish infantry div had 2 times less artillery and 3 times less anti tank weapons than german infantry div. Polish Army was defeated in one week when germans cut Poland in a half. Remaing 3 weeks it was mopping up operations
stop with the "brave" ukraine, poland saved europe already 3 times (1683, 1920, breaking german enigma code) and now everyone says that ukraine is the hero of europe while shitting on theirselfes with "OMG OMG WAR ON UKRAINE WHAT A BRAVE COUNRRY OMG LETS HELP THEM OMG" while Poland.. didn't need help to do so
The reason WW2 really kicked of is not germany. Britain guaranteed poland, but then didnt help, and when the soviets attack poland they didnt do anything. Turns out they had a Secret agreement that they would only help when germany attacked. But they didnt help, despite long knewing germany would attack. So they basically used poland, made them aggressive towards germany with the guarantee, (polish birder aggression, and treatment of ethnic germans wasnt that good either) but then let the Poles die. The west wanted the war with Germany and used poland. Why? Because germany never intended a war with the west, hitler even wanted countries like britain on his side, he respected them. The only war he truly wanted was the one against the soviet union, because bolshevism and judaism and yeah you know the madman.
