I got to see her goofing around in her pool two weeks ago. She got ahold of something and took off running across the grass. Even at a gentle lope she was as fast as my mom's horse. She is an amazing, beautiful creature and clearly loves to play. Her new home is huge and well suited for her just like she deserves.
Yes this Zoo actually gets that really good pool DEPTH is what they need to truly feel refreshed and relaxed; a fact sadly not really recognized in some zoos with polar bears.
I give Nora a score of 10 in diving. Now all you need to do is convince the U. S. Olympic Swim Team that Nora belongs on their team, and should represent the U. S. in Tokyo. 🤔 Or maybe, have Nora as their Mascot?
Was this video really a minute long? It seemed to go by in seconds! Nora stole my heart the first time I saw her- she's had to overcome so many challenges for such a young polar bear. I wish you good health and happiness, precious one.
she has her half-sister to play with now - hopefully they will retain a sort of cub-like/sub-adult style of relationship - as TO'M says, adults are fairly solitary in the wild, altho that may be be partly controlled by the requirement for large ranges due to low resource density, which would not apply in a zoo setting.
