On most carbs if you don't have the float level spec from the manual I set them at level with the bottom of the carb...works 90% of the time. Good video!
FYI rebuild kits are junk. Your replacing oem jets with cheap Chinese junk. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with the oem jets. They don’t go bad. They just need cleaned. The only thing you should be rebuilding in the carb is gaskets, o rings, and a float valve other than that all the brass jets will last forever.
Well...I've had some junk jets. Cleaned up up really good. Lacked horsepower. Put a new jet in. Boom. Goes like a raped ape. There's nothing wrong with those jets. Been using them for years. It's the whole Chinese carb that is a bad investment.
Titaniumman Garage i have had my xpress running a few different times itll run an idle sometimes its flooding while its runnin i tried to drain the case an there wasnt anything
I have a 1995 low mileage, (over heated, fan switch bad) just redid my headgasket seem good (no more reserve filling), will start but have to give gas and will stop shortly anyway :( No Pointers
I'm not sure if you'll get this message but I have an explorer 400 it's a 2001 and I can go full throttle perfectly fine as soon as I slow down to turn around or to stop it stop saying anything like that then once I'm pushing full throttle it barely wants to move it's kind of bogging down not really stuttering or anything it's going into lint mode for a I can go full throttle perfectly fine as soon as I slow down to turn around or to stop it stop saying anything like that then once I'm pushing full throttle it barely wants to move it's kind of bogging down not really stuttering or anything it's going into lint mode for a few And then after Then it will Kick back up again and I can't figure out I've cleaned the jets Clean the pilot jet This Could be could you possibly point me in the right direction
I'm not very familiar with two strokes this is the first one I've messed with I've got a 99 Sportsman 4-stroke practically off of the showroom floor but this one that I just acquired the Explorer 400 another day to start it up and see what it was going to do and right where the exhaust it's connected with the springs in the donut right off of the cylinder and oil was coming out of there that's the first time that has happened since I got this bike and I don't know why oil would be coming out of there let's my piston rings were bad but I've got excellent compression
@@THE-REAL-UNKNOWN-PLUS I got it. Your oiler is stuck open dumping extra oil in the carb and blowing out the exhaust. Its common with older 400s. It's back to the throttle cable again or the oiler in the front of the engine where the cable comes down. Throttle cable splits half way down and controls fuel and the oiler. My very first 400L did that. And another scrambler I bought. The guy thought it needed a rebuild. It was just tons of oil in the case.
The 350L Is oil injected. There is a plug in the front top for counterbalancer oil. It takes about 3oz. Front right side by the pull start. Injection oil goes in the front cap on the hood.
@TitaniummanGarage thank you for replying, I'm just having trouble getting it to idle and to not bogg at higher RPM, rebuilt the carb, adjusted the floats, open fuel line from tank to carb, 105 psi of compression, good reed valves I did what you showed on your video. If you have another suggestion, that would be awesome. If not, I appreciate your time either way.
My wheeler has been bogging down whenever I go full throttle but I have lots of power for about three seconds. after I took the carb off about 300 million times I thought maybe I need some fuel pressure so I blew into the fuel vent hose then kinked it off. the wheeler ran great. Fkin pos.
Got a 325 Polaris trailboss bogs down in drive at wot doesn't bog down In neutral at full throttle good idle think it's the main jet crabs been clenaed
Got an issue with my 97 Xpress I just rebuilt from the frame up. I also replaced the silent chain in the transmission. It worked great, but the throttle cable was sticking. I deleted the oil pump and just do premix so I ordered a new single cable. Now it will not start! It's got fire..... It's got suction from the intake side and if I cover it I get fuel build up on my glove..... Every few spins it will try and hit, but only for an instance..... any ideas? What's this drain plug by the starter you mention? I haven't seen that one. Thanks
The drain plug by the starter is a way to drain the case if you have gas build up from a leaking carb. all 400 have them. There are 2. One fore the counterbalancer and one for the case. Try a new sparkplug. it might be fouled out.
Hi bud.i got a 96 sportsman 400 I changed the jug had the head machined put new rings in it put it together now it starts fine runs for a few then starts to bog if I put choke on half way for a sec shut it off runs fine then does it again.what could be the issue
Would you mind emailing me? I have one to many questions about the 93 ive been working on, its my first polaris an first two stroke i had to work on an not just ride.
@@TitaniummanGarage I’m build a mud bike it’s a 91 Polaris trail boss 350l I’ve ordered a clutch kit and jets from and complete exhaust from Rick Ritter he said he is guessing on jetting bc I don’t have an airbox send a 230 and a 240 jet I think what would be my first step in tuning it I’ve never been able to get the bike to idle it runs amazing no Boggs nothing just won’t idle cranks first pull
@@jaylinpender The 2 stroke needs an airbox or it could run lean. You cant put a aftermarket filter on it and go. Its tuned to the right amount of airflow coming from the airbox. I would get an airbox and try the 240 jet.
