I would test the stator and if it passes then I would change the rectifier (voltage regulator). Power from the stator goes to rectifier and turns the power from ac to dc voltage. A bad rectifier might be causing the short. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching and be sure to like and subscribe.

What would cause the black wire on the stator to smoke hot while using the starter button on the handle bar? stator grounded out?

Was replacement stator a direct plug in

What would cause a weak spark i can hold the plug while turning over

@@crankitt825 tested stator and the two wires next to the black one test at 1.8ohms each is that bad

⁠check out the end of the video. I have it wrote down what the ohms are for each wire. If it doesn’t match my list then I would replace the stator. Hope this helps.

I have a 2007 polaris predator 50. My kid was riding it and it just stopped moving. And never died,it just stopped moving. It starts but wont move at all. I found a forum.and somebody mentioned there is a chance the stater may be bad. Any idea?? I will try to test it tomorrow. Any help will be appreciated.

Hi and thanks for watching!! If your four wheeler is running then it won’t be the stator. Sounds like to me the drive belt or the clutch is broken. I would check that first. Hope that helps you out. Be sure to like and subscribe to our channel.

How close do these numbers need to be? W/r wire I'm getting .465 B/r I'm getting .875 Y/r I'm getting .7 White I'm getting .7 Black wire grounded to the cylinder head I'm getting 0

Hi and thanks for watching. According to your reading I think your stator is ok. Sounds like you are having a cdi box issue. Be sure to check the safety switches on the bike too. Hope this helps. Be sure to like and subscribe.

@crankitt825 I checked continuity at the cdi, it all checked out. I guess that doesn't necessarily mean that's it's good though.

Having continuity to the cdi is good but it doesn’t diagnose the cdi and their no steps on diagnosing the cdi by itself however what I do is diagnose the stator, rectifier/ regulator coil and safety switches. If they check out then only thing left is the cdi box. Hope this helps.

@crankitt825 The quad IS running at the moment. I lost spark the other day, but now it's back. I don't believe that the battery is being charged while running, though. I put a multimeter on the battery while running and revved it up. No change on the meter?

Sounds like the rectifier/ voltage regulator has gone out.
