I have ? for you I have a Kipor camping generator 3000, TC which is an AC rotary generator I little bigger in capacity than a Bick generator But my question Is can I USE the CBI to create a spark as it is so much in many ways similar to that system Or as I have a Battery can I convert it to DC sparking To deliver a spark & ues an ac covert to charge my battery? Yes well, Why. We can No' longer get the parts for this model. The engine is sound so if could use an alternative system to run the motor preps I could use a rectifier to change a battery bank & use it to run an off-the-shelf inverter. & I have put it back into use finding a suitable system to use what I require so I don't burn it out. les England Ps I have one of the old tip motorbike pot' coils that I have used with points. on my rotavator until it finally burnt too much oil Could I use that with a trigger to fire the plug. as there are no points with this motor how do I do that? I would preheat a feedback if possible. In your opinion Les England.

Yes I have a 93 Honda Fourtrax 300 and watching your video hear about the state and all the all the wires coming out of the motor but unfortunately I have a blue and yellow or purple and blue stripe and two yellows and my green so I know you said the green is a ground what would the purple and blue stripe be and what with the blue with a yellow stripe go to

Is the white and blue wire for the pulse generator suppose to show that it’s grounded? I can’t get my son’s chins 110 cc started and I’ve replaced everything, checked all the kill switches, the only thing I haven’t done is replace the ignition switch.

Hello Harvey, new subscriber here, I'm still having trouble, I got a 2000 Lakota 300KEF, the harness cut all up, the stater has 3 yellow wires on one of the 3 sections coming out, for life of me, I cannot figure which wire goes where to get this thing to spark and turn over. Can you explain the simpler systems that don’t have batteries and a starter. If I could get/find a real schematic I wouldn’t be asking. I “assume” the CDI gets power from the generator portion of the stator and the spark signal comes from the igniter pulse. Also, what voltage does the generator put out to the CDI and Coil if there is no voltage regulator. Im assuming it’s AC but don’t know the voltage. Im asking because I would like to build a tester that sends a pulse to the coil to do a quick easy coil test for process of elimination. Would also like to remove the plug, spin the crankshaft with my drill and measure the generator and igniter voltage coming out under fairly consistent rotation speeds.

I have a honda fourtrax 300 1991 I put a Chinese Regulator rectify on it yesterday The old one 3 yellows On one side other side green red black But this one was missing the black Not thinking I put connectors on the green and red hooked it up Tried to check for spark was holding the plug boot and it lit me up So all of a sudden I have a bright blue spark I had put a new starter a new carburetor on it already already I got it to crank up And idle So I drove it around the yard I went about 100 yd to the gate and only made it 80 yd back it shut off it shut off now at the battery Box the red wire going to a 15 ant fuse is shortening outI have disconnected the key switch And the solenoid and put power to the red and it didn't blow it so I checked ground and all sames good.I call the people I got it from they said they didn't need the black wire and 2 other said they got one and it said black wire not needed. What are your thoughts I Was a Electrician for 21years till I fell out of a tree stand and this ATV was given to me when it did run it ran very Strong If you have any ideas for me to check please Let me know @ Jhamby165@gmail.com Thank you loved this video I forgot one thing when it did start the key wouldn't turn it off I really need thing thing to run just for getting me around the yard or hunting woods thank you and have a great New Years

Hello I have a question about my Chinese atv. So I cannot find the problem because my atv cranks but it doe not start. There is nothing going to the coil. I noticed that my ground wire has a black and a green coming off of it and it is getting really hot when I press the start on my engine. Can you help me out please?

hey nice video got a 110cc china atv my problem is that it fire when it wants to and it acts like it want to run then you think you got spark then you dont do you thinks its the cdi acting up it looks just like the bike in the video but a 110cc thanks

Hi Harvey I have the same engine as in this video. I have got a new harness, coil, stator, cdi, regulator and solenoid in a kit. I have replaced everything electrical and removed the kill switch wire from the cdi plug. After testing everything, i have no spark. I get 70 volts from the cdi to the coil but no spark. I have tried 4 coils( 1 new 1) and 3 plugs. I have 7ohms on all grounds. Hope you can shed some light for me. Cheers

videos have all helped. i have a request, i am in the few with a chinese gy motor made by lifan. trying to find information on it is rediculous and u mentioned it. what makes it different? mine is the 150 or 200cc enduro and the wiring i redid to cut out the extra wires. its my first bike and i think im making it harder then it really is. im familiar with cars and work on my jeep. @12;12 is where u mentioned it. thank u for the great videos

Hello question- i have spark, compression, air, and it won’t start. When i spray fuel into the carb it starts then dies. I don’t know what is wrong with the fuel system?

What does it mean when you have low spark

i’ve got a green wire and a black wire coming out of my harness essentially side by side wrapped coming past the gas tank that have no where to connect to anywhere on the bike or in any relay, fuse, or anything at all that anyone can seem to figure out thus far. i tried to connect green to ground and the black to the red and then another time to the black and all i get is when it’s grounded green and black to red - my neutral light stays on a little while even after removing the keys from the bike. but nothing else at all happens and I cannot read the diagram or understand it. I know my flashers stopped flashing, lighting up or getting the dash indicator light for them on- all stopped out of the blue one day, but those two wires were still hanging out by themselves then. i need help with each issue please. First time bike owner and in struggling here

Hey Harvey I need help please lol I have a 98 Yamaha Moto 4 350 four wheeler was out for a ride all of a sudden it starts sputtering like it is out of gas however I have a full tank I lost all power to my headlights and dash lights don't have any power when I take a pair of needle-nose and touch it to the solenoid turns over but won't start still don't have power to my headlights or anything and it sounds like it's not getting no fire to it kind of would really appreciate some advice

Every technical video like thus NEVER show the exact range or setting they use on the multimeter. I found one video out of 8 that a guy explains the multimeter settings for people that doesn't know the meter.

Do you have a sure fire no nonsense way for checking ignition condensers... you have no spark..you realize you have a bad condenser..you go pick one up assuming its good ...return and install ..still no spark...you go in a different direction thinking your condenser is good ...???

Harvey I need your advice, I have a 90cc 4 stroke believe it's a kazuma engine. I recently replaced all the wiring, along with stator, rectifier, coil, starter solenoid, ignition switch, everything due to some wires shorting out. When I replaced everything,it fired up in 1st try, a couple days later it wouldn't start. Had low compression, so I tore into the top end to check everything. Ended up replacing head gasket and stuff. Found both valves,so took them off, removed all the carbon and re installed, and adjusted the valves. Re installed engine, put everything back together, and I have no spark. Checked all the connectors, all "look" good. I have a multimeter but it's too fancy for me, can't figure out how to use it 😂. What do you think it could be? Thanks.

I know that as of today this vid is almost 4 years old, I watched it when it was new. I just bought one and this information was priceless. Sometimes you never know when you'll need information like this and knowing where to look is key. Thanks Harvey.

Really kinda useless video. Does not explain how to test the stator. How to check for pulse. No cdi troubleshooting. You basically spent all this time explaining how to check the wiring but not a single one of thencomponents

ok so i got a 1977 honda 90cc 3wheeler symple wiring but nothing was conected ar the head light and to beleve i got no sparck not to mentchion no cdi when i puled evering like the wiring has no way on one but i cant find any wiring diagram to hook anything proper and it came with out the head light im sure somthing is missing i just need the engin running for a gokart i built from ground up ive been on the gokart prject for 2 years now due to trying differnt engins non witch wold run due to wiring this is the typ of engin i want on it regard less cuz i want a manul gokart so i cant due the engin mount on it till i know i got a running engine that will run appon finishing the gokart putting the engine that rins in order to wire up the kart any help like step by step would be great.

Hi. I got this unnamed branded Chinese 50cc 2 stroke quad. It started and ran fine and then wouldn't anymore. There isn't any spark. I've tested and measured best I can namely the coil and stator. But I can't find a CDI box on this engine. Does it work without s conventional cdi system? Where could the problem lie? Blown pick up coil on stator? Please help. Tnx. In the same vain, just out of curiosity, how do common lawnmower engines run without a battery? How is the spark created to fire and keep the motor running? Cheers and tnx for this helpful video.

My stator has Black Brown White Grey ? Little confuse

I have a 05 vipor 70 or maybe 90 not sure. Anyway long story short hubby drained the gas and I come out to smoke a cig and bam CAUGHT FIRE.. we saved it still good but had to redo the wires. Got everything hooked up like diagram but won't get spark. We tried the coil on another block and it got spark. So we know it's good.. now please help me my 1year old loves to ride with us... the colors from block are(7.yellow/red 6.white/red 5.black/red and a white. Also a all black one with I would take that for grounding block. Also have 2 boxes one is a cdi and other remote receiver. Plz plz plz

I’ve tried seems like everything. I’m getting the readings here, still nothing been trying to get this dumb old Twister twisting since 2020… nothing. Only time I get fire is by jumping the solenoid. Kids will be grown by the time I get 🔥😭 Still I enjoyed the video. Lol

I love watching your videos. because it takes sane m person to understand the moron that wired and configured these unit, they are so inconsistent with what use for ground, green blk, or even the hot, blk white or red, etc... i had to unwrap my entire harness today take deep dive try figure it out. Well, I got a push button replace into handlebar for push to start to work, on/ff didn't, Key works, now i have no spark, think the CDI is dead. ordered New one, after this video tomorrow weather permitting, do some checking OHm checks. as always, these videos are perfect.

I've got four wires coming out of the stator. Green/ground two yellow/battery charging Blue white/ pulsar but no red black? I don't know how to wire it up

My 2008 Chinese bike will not run had it tuned and a new battery installed and a new carby it worked for a week and won't start Apparently you have to pull the clutch in to start it and need a full battery charge it has an electric start as well and a kick start but it just winds over on electric start and you can not kick it over Think it might be shit fuel like ethonal 91 maybe need 95 or 98 Its a 250r 4 stroke Chinese brand Help or ideas if you can already paid the shop three hundred bucks not going to take it back as a kid worked on it I live in Brisbane Australia looking for a good shop or mechanic to look at it for us Cheers Tony and Sonya

Nice. But a on paper wiring diagram would be helpful. I have motor , cdi. And relays for on and off controls. It’s a tifan water cooled in canoe.

I know this is an old post but thought i would give it a shot and ask ,i hav 90cc kymco mongoose atv ,that wont do anything no crank no lights ,when i turn on the switch to start it ,but when i bought it ,i put new switch, new battery and cleaned old gas out and carburetor and when i tried starting it it cranked and ran but was running wide opening, so i took carburetor bak off and checked everything and put bak on it wouldn't do anything now ,also has new starter relay and plug and i checked gap on plug ,should i follow this video ,if anyone sees this would reaaly appreciate any help thanks

I’ve got power from black and red.hooked everything up as explained and still have nothing.it was all wired fine untill I put the jump pack on now I’m just getting nothing any suggestions.and if I’ve got power from the stator does that Jean everything under the stator is fine

I've replaces stator coil cdi plug regulator .eliminated kill switch from cdi.all resistance ohms are good.what could it be.no spark..defective new cdi?it cut off when son hit a bump and it only sparked weak once after.then I replaced all parts still no spark???

Where can I find parts for this scared a lil girl it sat and picked it up for $200.00 I took it upon my self to try to get this quad going found out that he magneto wiring hurnss had to be jiggled to start . The quad was leaving people pushing it for my nephew has no cut of switch I need an entire harness and magneto and maybe check the clutch.

I just checked the stator on my neighbor's kids quad and sure enough the black/red has OL showing so is likely bad. I ordered another stator for them but the wire seems good, is there possibly some way to repair the stator?

I hsve a 125cc coolster mountopz I picked up for my son motor was shot so I got another new harness kill switch etc I hooked it all up it will not start with the start button the key cuts power on and off lights work but won't Start and run unless I jump the silinoed with a screw driver fires up and runs do you have any ideas can I run a wire from switch to cdi ? Hay dude iv got a 110cc Chinese thing lol i have every thing it needs air fuel spark timing good valve is good every thing is as should but the plug is not getting wet battrey is charged and it cranks, have injected fuel in to carb and it fires wright up. Its pickled my brain any insight on that lol iv been hunting for the same issue for about a week and no such luck lol as i think you are god with these lil bundles of fun i thought i mite ask lol thanks again love ur info in this vid

can anyone help me i have a demon x 125 it had a racing inner rotor kit A.K.A the stator and flywheel but i swapped it over to a normal one because it broke anyway i get a pulse through the the cables at the stator but once i wire it to my cdi i dont get any kind of spark or that from the plug but i know its all wired properly ?

Hi Change of subject. I have a hero puch wheelie 65cc quad. The engine is off the puch maxi turbo sport. It's old late 80s I think looks like a suzuki lt50. I cannot find any information for them or manual. Type online you get a Russian site. You sound switched on. If you don't mind could you look. I have seen two in the UK. One I own and one witch was sold on a site a fare few years ago. Thanks Regards Martin H
