Good question. I may have come off when I removed the cover.

pull hard or use 2 flat head screw drivers to pry off. It has to pass the rubber o ring. The o ring makes it a tight fit, if ya get me.

Thats typically what I due. Unless I hear a little whine then a 1/2 turn out.
