cool video. I also installed an EPI clutch kit on my 2000 Polaris 500 and it really woke this ATV up. Throttle response is better, it engages faster, and it turns my 27"swamp lites just fine. I ended up installing the mudder spring (orange) instead of the red spring. I bought the primary and secondary clutch removal tools and even the spider tool remover. I built my own fixture to take sheaves apart. I also replaced stock belt with heavy duty cvt belt. DIY so much cheaper than going to dealer shop. I found everything on e bay and amazon. :)
I do have several gopro videos but locating them will be a challenge. They were on my old computer. The clutch kit helped that delay the throttle had from idle.
Ya bought a 2017 and battery was low when i took it. Guy just says you got a trickle charger right? First thing i did was get a battery tender but i noticed it doesnt hokd a charge long. Oh well ill buy a better one. Still like this quad. Was a really good deal.
I hate that clunking noise drives me nuts!!! Come to find out, everyone told me it's the belt. Now I believe it. Just like you said it stopped doing it, for the most.
is it smoother when the clutch engages ? btw seems like all of the 570's have undersized batteries, my 2017 does the same, what size cranking amp battery did you get ?
Lee Embrey no the clutch hits a little harder and at a higher rpm. I don't remember the amps on the battery, just got one from autozone. It really didn't change the top out much. Hope this helps
If yours is anything like mine the Polaris dealer didn't charge the damn battery till I was there to pick up my machine, they knew I was coming but didn't charge my battery a full 24 hours like they were supposed to. That made my battery extremely weak, I will be replacing that battery next week lol I hate Polaris, crappy business practices, customer support, crap aftermarket products etc etc etc. I wish I had went with an Arctic Cat Wildcat trail
Jt Sipos you will not gain any power with a clutch kit. If you run over sized tires the kit will help restore lost power, from adding the over sized tires.
Question why wouldn't you want to install the spring that would allow the unit to engage at lower rpm's seems like that would give better throttle response??
ok thanks I'm thinking of doing an EPI clutch upgrade on my 570 sportsman with EPS and EBS because I'm not crazy about how much you have to rev the engine before you start moving on flat ground that's not too much of an issue but when your trying to gently walk your ATV up a steep bank I would greatly appreciate better throttle response because once the transmission starts to engage you do speed up rather quickly and that's not welcome when crawling up a steep bank as its too easy to cause the front wheels to come off the ground,
@@johnbalogna803 The engine is making less power at the lower rpm. The higher engagement rpm allows the clutch to engage when the engine is making more torque.
Dual Sport Guy Thank you. I did do that. I actually have the 450 Ho. The dealer specs say mine is non ebs. However the clutch cover say ebs system. The clutches appeared to be of a non ebs system.
Curtis Vanbelois I don’t have one yet ... got recalled to work so I didn’t order one but believe me I for sure will ! Why Polaris put the battery in such a stupid spot is beyond me lol it’s almost impossible to access for charging etc
Emily Crandall I'll work on that, getting ready to load up the wheeler and go play in the mud. We've got about 14 inches of rain this week, so everything's flooded.
Dr Joe Gaglioti There won't be a point in putting a clutch kit in, with stock tires and wheels. You put a clutch kit in to over come the power loss, due to over sized tire and wheels.
Dual Sport Guy yes , an RVS performance clutch kit which was the kit recommended by the forums and it's awesome to say the least. Did it before my pipe/ fuel controller and the thing flat out flies .
Just to let everyone know, you dont have to pull the primary clutch off to the change the weights or spring. Save time and money by leaving primary clutch on. Simple simple simple. Clutch pullers are for companies to make money, simple as that........ God bless
Hello love your videos, but I have a very serious important question. after you put your clutch kit in, did you have to start replacing axles ball joints, bearings, bushings. what problems did you have if you had any. my name is Shawn Crandall. I'm on Facebook Messenger also please get back to me and let me know. I have 27 inch mudlites with a 2 inch lift on my quad in my buddy is trying to talk me out of clutching it and going back down to 26 inch tires I need your opinion please. Thank you sir!!!
Emily Crandall I’ve no problems at all but my wheeler isn’t lifted. But I don’t see that would make a difference, you will see a huge difference in power it was the best thing I’ve done to my wheeler so far.
Emily Crandall This kit just give you back the power you lost, by adding bigger tires, I think the lift would hurt your drive line more than the clutch kit
I had a shop install a dalton clutch kit on my 2014 Polaris sportsman 400HO and it my rpms are around 3k before it moves. Is that normal? It only has 50 hrs on it.
