Review of my one owner 1995 Polaris Xplorer 400 4x4. #2stroke. Back from the days when Polaris ruled the ATV market and you could buy a 400 cc 2 stroke four wheel drive utility quad. Times have changed a bit. But you can still pick these up pretty cheap and they have a lot to offer.

You can actually make all 3 lights work by putting the switch between low and high right in the middle and you’ll have to play with it a little bit!

Thanks for a great review! I picked up a 95' 400 sportsman in olive green with factory plow a few months back that has some issues and this has got me excited to get it going!

My 65 year old neighbor had one of these when I was a kid around 2003. I had an 02 Honda Rubicon 500 at the time. I always thought it was strange being a 2 stroke utility.

Low gear lol, low gear is if you are pulling something or stuck in the mud! Those where great quads with top speed in the 65-70 mph that are made to run in high gear! I distinctly remember the smell of swamp mud cooking on the tune pipe. Good old days

Your on the money on the speed have a 660 grizzly and a 400 explorer the explorer put up good runs against it side by side it gets walked but not run away from pretty impressive for a 95 It did have a top end rebuild 400 miles ago so it should have all the poneys.

Great video. Do you think the 2 stroke would do ok pulling a trailer of heavy firewood out of the woods? Didn't know if the lowend would be enough or if would be better to get a 4 stroke.

Thanks! It has a low range and is rated to tow 850 lbs so as long as ypu are within that weight you would be good.

Is your snow plow mount seized on the front mine is its just facing the ground. I had to remove it.

What is the switch for on the left side where your left leg would be, the res, off, on switch. What is that for???

Thats the fuel switch controlling fuel to the carburetor. So off when its not being ridden, on when it is, and reserve is a lower tube on the tank to give you enough fuel to get back to the parking lot (or where ever so you arent stranded in the woods).

What 2 stroke oil do u use in it?

Ive only ridden it enough to need one quart and I grabbed a quart of Quiksilver synthetic 2 stroke oil from my local Advance Auto. Id like to try one of the Maxima ester based smokeless formulas but I need to remember to order it since I cant get it locally.
