Thanks for the unbiased comparison here. Been scouring for an objective review of the two but it’s hard to find someone who isn’t paid off by one of the companies.
I've spent the last two days looking into the Freewell shutter and case setup, but this Litechaser setup has my attention. I just purchased the Oslo 6 Mobil gimbal to take my footage up a notch but I am pretty sure I'll outgrow it with a cage setup.
The build quality of the Small Rig cages is awesome. Although I wouldn't really use it for mounting huge lenses on like a DOF adapter, thet're super useful for just properly screwing your phone into a shoulder rig or tripod. Not to mention attaching movie lights and sound recorders, or a battery pack durectly to the cage. The only downside if you want to use a proper USB microphone that is high powered for better sound there is no other option than using your lighting port for the USB3 camera adapter kit, and then maybe if you want more power breaking out of that dongle with another lightning cable. These cages make your phone useful as a B roll camera or crash cam to your main camera like a Sony A7 or Panasonic GH5 or even something more expensive like an FX3 and with the 13 and 14 being able to export LOG files now, you can seamlesly integrate your iPhone 4K footage with your other camera footage. Or just use your iPhone for what I do with the latest Apple updates for vlog recording, while using your MacBook as a monitor so you can use your rear facing camera and get better vlogging footage than most other people on RU-vid due to the ProRes 4:4:4 support. As a lightweight vlogging or run and gun camera iPhones are awesome, especially for those space where you want something light or small that has built in stabilisation. I've done some hiking with my iPhone that I would not even bother with a full cage and rig, but this thing has enough shoes and quarter inch screws that you can mount all your gear including a Zoom F3 or whatever if you really want better than 44khz sound, and still keep a light and small camera for travelling/vloging.
Hi Andy I have the smallrig cage for the iPhone 14 pro max and I want a good VND filter. Any recommendations. I’d prefer to use polar pro but I see you can’t
