The technique is one thing you can learn but natural creativity and vision is quite another and this is the difference for great painters and folk who wanna try to be decent i think.
Another absolutely great video and great painting! A really big painting. There is so much texture on this ground, and it really makes you want to explore every inch of the painting. Painting a cliff requires a lot of practice. It was quite a long video, but now you have to watch the second part as well. Many thanks for sharing!
I just keep watching over then again I stumbled upon your home grandpa about 7 months ago and I keep being amazed . And I try but, myself I’m a minute cartoonist bang ya know Quick dra. Simple but catchy ,now I’m trying painting again and listening to music and you makes it real. Thanks for being n stay away from those hospital type places , I’m in USA as you say most of your grandkids are granpa ,ya know thanks do you still reply I’ve had a Question or two ,but not an answer please don’t cut me off I’m in awe of everything you do or say but problem is oil paint on brush is it thick with only enough oil to make workable I’m a rookie at this

👋Good evening, Stuart, excellent ! - I started watching this video last night but had to postpone the rest until tonight so I could watch it in one go. - Again, an interesting landscape has escaped your brushes and palette knives, and Poldark's Path is a great title for this painting. Poldark was televised from 75 to 77 with Robin Ellis and Angharad Rees, I enjoyed watching the old series but don't like remakes. - The sky is painted quite superbly and the orange-pinkish part looks super with the white in it, the blue upper section appears quite splendid anyway. The green landscape below seems mysterious, maybe even a little eerie, imagine having to spend time there alone in this twilight. But we also and especially love this mysteriousness in your paintings. I like this painting but as always I'm looking forward to second parts, no matter how long the videos take. "POLDARK" - my home county. At the height of the series popularity a tourist ( known as 'emmets' by locals ) could buy Poldark chocolate; Poldark ice cream; Poldark hats - you get my drift 🙂 When younger I attended 'Life classes' at St,Ives, to draw, in charcoal, the naked lady posing on a sofa. I attended every class. Your videos are never too long Stuart.

LOVE the longer video, love your work, and I was amazed by John's painting. It must be a joy to teach someone who can combine natural talent and the wonderful skills you imparted to him.
Let me just say you started playing randomly on my tv while I was painting (I do acrylic, but am trying to learn oils, and happy that RU-vid recommended you) I have listened to you and looked over at my tv for the past five hours of your videos… I am laughing so much at your commentary and jokes, listening in on your knowledge of how to actually relax, hearing your life stories as an artist as I’m trying to get into that life and out of the waitressing career… I just adore you and your art so much already, and it was just a “happy accident” to have come across you. Thank you for being you, you are so inspiring.
Also the big advice to not overwork a piece, if one brushstroke works and looks nice, move on to something else. Always a bad habit with me thinking I need more, but you saying that is helping (almost lol) ❤
I believe the P number refers to the Panatone color chart number designation. In the chart it will give the breakdown with percentages of all the colors that makeup that particular color. Oh, and stunning as always.

Thanks for your latest video upload. It is interesting to see you using pthalo blue with its intense colour practically two thirds of the canvas or board. Normally this blue would be used sparingly. I really love the cliff and landscape and the overall effect of lights and darks played out too. As always Stuart, I enjoy every minute of the time spent watching you paint. Thank you once again for the instructions on how to work loosely with oil paints.

I learn so much from your paintings that add to my own experience of 5 decades painting (of course some Life got in the way of my painting fun). Your stream of consciousness comments are always interesting. And I'm happy to hear your voice has returned to it's rich normal sound, and that your health has improved. It would be interesting sometime to see a 1 or 2 hour video of you just painting with voiceover comments and instruction. I'm looking forward to Part 2 as you finish this painting. I found the Poldark series landscapes breathtaking and so worthy of painting. Celedon for the sky green color that got mixed perhaps. PB= pigment blue; 15:3 =Thalo red shade. There is a Thalo blue green shade. I paint in watercolor so I pay attention to the tube numbers because of concern about lightfastness. I enjoy your humorous commentary and helpful explanation much more than the inane music some RU-vidrs use. Carry on; I’m a new subscriber. Beautiful work.

The painting, as per usual, is beautiful, the teaching superb... and your dry humor uplifting! But I commend you for being a "Cat man"! I have 3 of the rascals, or rather they have me. They do not like watching me etch. They like it when I paint more because they like (I think) the odor of linseed oil! (ps. Waffling, and even Whiffling, is better than Piffling!).
Quag and mire both mean a bog or marsh. Quag is English, mire is Scandinavian. First thought to be used as a "difficult situation" in the 1700s. Yes, we use that word in the US. Of course, like you we are moving more and more towards less and less vocabulary, so thing or thingy will also substitute for quagmire. Cheers and thanks for another helpful video.
Another enthralling video, Stuart. Thank you. However, other than your comments about beautiful scenery, I can't wholly agree with what you say about Cornwall. There are, undoubtedly, areas where you would need to be wealthy, if not mega-so, to live. Sadly, much of Cornwall falls into the severely deprived category. As a whole, the average income of many full-time residents falls below the poverty level. Cornwall depends heavily on the annual influx of the emmets, mentioned by someone else, as most other industries here have declined massively. Perhaps the Newquay Space-Port may help in future!

Yes, I am into dream analysis as well. I have had dreams that kept repeating and then apparently the issue was resolved because I stopped having them! I too have dreams about being in buildings that are somewhat convoluted and mysterious. I tend to think of it as my mind wandering through different parts of my brain analyzing different things.
Keep in mind that when you repeat yourself, you are usually working on a different painting. Thus, the comment applies in a new way. We have no trouble re-hearing each lesson because it is made new by the application of the comment.
I am curious??? The distant mountain is pretty tall but does it drop off. It would seem it should follow through to behind the cliffs. Just me looking.
Hi Stuart, have you had a CT scan with contrast fluid to check for blockages from calcium and fats and other substances around the arteries from the heart. To descern if you need a stand etc. Greetings from Bavaria
This is becoming Beautiful. I love the orange glow in the sky and the mountain and the right amount of salade (in my opion). I have not watched the video in one go. I split it in two this time to be honest. That ruins the youtube measure thingy i'm sure. I would've loved to buy this painting when its finnished but,..... i don't have the budged :( I don't want you thinking i was ignoring you in the email. But i can't aford your paintings. Shame on me for occupying your time sending you these questions. Just hoping for better financial times for me so i can perhaps one day buy a painting from you. At least that is on my bucket list :) Paintings with that orange glow in the sky i just wish i could just jump in to the painting, sit on that hill or mountain and take it all in. The orange glow or a pre-thunderstorm greenish glow in the sky that is wat i love. A painting should not talk it should scream to you. Have a nice weekeind Stuart!
Is there a way to salvage or change a painting which is too dry to rub off and when you don’t want to paint white over the whole thing and start over. I find, as a new learner, I’m too slow to finish the whole thing off before parts start to dry😕. Love your videos, humor paintings and new words❤

LOL.. It's a good thing I'm not deaf and reliant upon CC because the auto-generated text came across the screen as : Failure Blue. I can't stop giggling. The next time though it correctly wrote Phthalo. And the P is for Pigments. You can tell if it's pure pigment or mixed pigments creating a hue to achieve the color.
