The question is pole beans vs bush beans which is better. We are big fans of growing dry beans. And with good reason! but in the past all our dry bean production has been from bush beans and honestly though we enjoyed growing them making the switch to pole beans where we live has been amazing in year one. The return and the ease of growing is amazing and though the setup is a bit more intense than other beans its not really that hard for a high value food item with a great shelf life. So consider giving pole beans a try as a means of growing your own dry beans!
Thanks so much for watching!

Nice to see the transition of the new garden. I agree with the switch to pole beans. The spring got to hot to quickly for the bush beans.

We were actually talking about beans tonight and how we would like to roughly triple at least the number of beans we produced this year to really be able to use them regularly. We have plans for the new garden space next year more expansion lol and more trellis space!

Great video. Gonna try them there trail of tears beans in 2024. I was on the fence about them before this video. Thanks for sharing the harvest after it's all over and done, just looking at the plants growing can be deceiving. Thanks, Thumbs up!

So glad you found it helpful. We really enjoy the trail of tears beans and find them so productive. We really love the pole beans as we find in our climate with the fall rains, we were losing so many of the Bush variety as they would split open and the seeds would start to sprout or rot. Granted, we could have tended them better, but for our gardening habits, the pole beans work better for us.

Loved this video! I raised Taylor French Horticulture beans several years ago and loved them. You've motivated me to try more dry beans!

Dry beans are underrated but if your trying to produce some good quality food at home at a scale that it can make a difference on the budget (and actually be physically possible to upscale) dry beans are great! We have some big plans to upscale them in 2023! And fresh dry (i.e. within a year maybe two of harvest) beans are way tastier than what you can get at the grocery store usually!

Ok so legit dont know how i missed this video and information after such a long time. I have a few questions for ya. what are the chances of being able tu purchase a small pack of the cranberry beans from you? Yes im dead serious, i dont see any other way of getting any besides amazon. Also i cant find your video on the cow peas and i really wanted to know how well your harvest was. ( trying my hand at them in the 2024 season. so far doing well with a small planting. Anywho, miss the lives hope to see you soon. Be well be safe and always happy gardening.

Overall do you find the quantity of product worth the time and work involved? I thought I planted quite a bunch of beans to only get enough dried beans to have about 3 pints of each bean to can. We go through black beans like they're free so only a few pints was discouraging.
