😂😂😂 skier here, however a few of my best friends are boarders. While we all have our differences. Its about getting out and having fun on the slopes. Boarders and skiers just need to know where to stop and relax without getting in the way of other riders. However, ive seen many more boarders laying down in terrible spots in my lifetime. They need to learn for f**** sake. I rammed a boarder last year at about 45+MPH because he was sitting in an blind spot downhill around a corner. Thats fairly typical for a boarder sadly.... he had to be stretchered down the mountain and everyone claimed he was at fault. No repercussions for me. Why do boarders do that dumb shart? They think they are king of the hill and that's the exact reason many slopes are skiers only. Granted there's exceptions for skiers dumb capabilities. Boarders just think they're king and everyone else needs to go around them. Not the case. Ill happily ram another one in a stupid spot, make them learn.

I prefer training and practice without poles. It will let you more focus on your leg and upper body balancing. With poles, I just always feel distracting for concentration if my "pole planting" right or wrong"

Depends on the resort. If there are “hike to” steeps and chutes, ya gotta have poles to move around. So, you end up using them all day. If I’m strictly going skiing to practice park features, then I leave the poles.

same, riding with poles gives me that extra feeling of balance on rails or mid-air. There's a reason that, gymnastics got that huge large pole in their hands while beeing on a highline. Also poles help me to wind up the spin a bit better.

I always ski with poles now but I had a couple seasons where I basically taught the whole year without them. I think if you're working on stuff in the park it's good to go sans poles to save your thumbs. But imo I think it looks better skiing with them. Just my opinion though.

I ski and board and don’t use poles. I look at my friends who have only skied and they don’t use poles and rip. So I was like no poles. Now my daughter and wife are pole free too. You only need poles if you’re racing or Nordic skiing. Other than that they just get in the way.

How tall is Dean? And what size poles you use?
@theoutsider6191
@theoutsider6191 2 года назад
Well for me skiing evolved with poles in the mix so it is a part of skiing. And from a comp point of view it should not be allowed to drop the use of poles, simply because it makes tricks easier to do for those that don't use them, as yer man Dean explains here.

Idk man, I´ve always went no-poles on skis. I kinda have a crippled arm, and skiing with one pole felt unnatural. I tried snowboarding, but it just didn´t feel right. Skiing with no poles is a pain in the ass in the lift lines, but otherwise it´s ok.

Make sure u know how to pop and start out on very small jumps. Make sure you get over the knuckle (flat part in between the take off and landing) also try some boxes small wide ones r best. Make sure you can ski switch (skiing backwards)

@koolkid3908
@koolkid3908 3 года назад
Wait I always wondered why poles are so important in the back country or just thick powder, for pushing maybe?
@Real_MisterSir
@Real_MisterSir 3 года назад
@@koolkid3908 There are plenty of reasons, they generally do still offer a lot of support because of their widened end piece, and in most situations the powder snow won't be so deep that your poles never reach condensed snowpack, and it helps with your posture going into your corners. Poles in general also have many other uses such as helping with traversing, checking snow depth before you make a descend, checking the snowpack itself to see how the balance is between condensed snow, fluff, and potential icy top layer. It is simply very rare that the snow is in a condition where poles don't serve a purpose, and when you're skiing proper backcountry, skiing posture is 10x more important than on groomed runs.

I don’t see the point in poles, all you’re doing whilst skiing is just holding them above the ground. They don’t help you turn and I feel like when you fall and your holding onto your poles, the poles dig into the ground it can twist your arm

Poles are just big time more stylish. No poles has always been the way to learn new tricks. People skiing without poles nowadays look like they're still insecure on what they're doing. Obviously I know that's not the case but that's just the vibes it gives for me personally.

Any skier who says omg that persons uses no poles that’s so bad, you’re just a bad skier and you’re also arrogant and in stuck in tradition cause fact is people who ski without poles are very capable of skiing with them but people who ski with poles have an insanely harder time skiing without them, meaning you’re actually more talented and have more flexibility for stuff you can do if you can ski without them, it’s useful to have and learn and hey you might even just like it better like I did
