Can't blame Tack his mom gave him a cannon. He'll make sure criminal's think twice before doing something stupid. And Tack's Mom is just making sure he's prepared to patrol the city.
@@slanetroyard92 Gotta love Tack's Mom! :) I bet Tack's Dad, has a nice 'armored patrol tank car' mostly a squad unit, with titanium custom body style, and all the gizmo's for patrol.. Then, Tack is a Motorcycle Cop.. can't win them all. 🙂
@@5762dg Hey I think the last thing the Police want back then is for every criminal they are trying to being in alive to be brought in in a body bag as .44 magnum hit like a truck. So my guess is the gun was confiscated temporary and return once they are off the range with a strict order from the sarge to Tackleberry on never use the gun his mother gave him as his service gun.
Redneck322 i don’t think so Bubba Dallas Tx officer killed an unarmed black man in his home thinking it was the officers apartment, Killeen Tx, man been in jail for 6 years for shooting officers for no knock entry in his with a warrant for another address so they were in the wrong house and the man defended his castle and been in jail for 6 years waiting for trial and then they keep postponing it I wonder why...
Notice also that Fackler grabbed the gun and had his finger on the trigger. Bad gun discipline Barbara wasn't sure how to hold a gun properly Tackleberry kept his finger off the trigger. He might not like that gun, but he still respected firearm safety
@@toddkes5890 Yep. It's actually stated in his Bio that while Tackleberry is Gung-ho and wacky, he's a _Gun-Nut_ as well, and knows how to properly handle a firearm.
@@duomaxwell2293 High tower alone makes a reboot near impossible. There are no actors right now that can give that kind of stage presence, kind yet imposing as FK the actor was superb.
@@jygb7092 So firstly, Harris engages Tackleberry in an uncharacteristically calm and collected manner. He entreats Tackleberry into relinquishing the firearm, rather than putting him on the defensive. Especially because, notice how Tackleberry is holding that firearm... barrel up, finger on the trigger. Which leads into the second point. Notice how Harris physically takes possession of the weapon. His fingers don't come near the trigger housing. He doesn't fight Tackleberry, just waits for Tack to remove his hand, then angles the barrel down and (key thing here) pops the cylinder out, effectively disarming the weapon. Now granted, Tack's a friendly and is willingly giving the gun over. But it's still smart deescalation. And yes, these are actors and it's scripted, but the folks who developed this scene and the actors themselves, really nailed it.
William B: Put Dirty Harry in charge of the PA cadets and make Tackleberry his second-in-command and I guarantee you San Fran will be free of crime inside a year.
@@MegaJustintee well,he lokked like having some history with guns already.for example at shooting range when he fat cadet (sorry for forgetting the name) was turning around after a shot, everyone ducked, but him,not possibly knowing,he is safe at that point, because it needs to be reloaded to actually pose a threat at that point.
its a revolver(not the shitty one from the police),its a military grade type of revolver and btw in the other police academy he's mom is a gun freak too
@@baguettysheppy1740 the regular .38s are hardly shit. The Smith and Wesson Model 10 and its variants are basically the granddady of all modern Smith and Wesson double-action revolvers made to this day, including the 629 we see here. Other than being scaled up to handle more powerful ammunition, the mechanism is exactly the same internally.
The look on Tackleberry's face when he got his gun was like 'You Gotta be Kidding' to him that .38 revolver looked like a toy than the real thing like that .44 magnum he used.
Only thing that ruined it for me is that he kept his finger on the trigger when talking to the LT. Which sucks because Tac is smarter than that... E.g. the shotgun range scene.
When I saw the scene where Tackleberry fired that huge gun and blew the targets head off I started laughing my ass off that was so freaking awesome and I'm surprised no one pissed or crapped their pants from the shot.
@@humbertoflores2545 you will not regret it it is a great tool for hunting big game animals I've personally got a couple of them they are fun to shoot accuracy is up to 50 yards but if you put a Leupold scope on one let's say a model with a 8 and 3/8 inch barrel your accuracy is guaranteed once all set up at 100 yards.
It is a Model 29 with a 8 and 3/8 inch barrel the 629 what you're thinking of stainless steel will usually be a model with a six and a half inch barrel or 4 inch barrel these models are not for the Casual shooter these models are meant for hunting big game animals in North America. Not Ideal Home Defense weapon not made for home defense.
@@garyquail2347 The gun is definitely not the greatest for home defence. However, cocking that hammer in a darkened room, during a moment of silence, will deter many would be thieves. Also works well with the Desert Eagles.

@@joselopez6990 don't ever underestimate the power of a 38 special it's a bit more accurate than the 44 Magnum and a little less powerful but not much then the 357 Magnum.

While it's not ideal that he keeps the gun pointed in the air and his finger on the trigger when Captain Harris talks to him, he does orient the muzzle down range when handing over the firearm...even if his finger is still inside the trigger guard as he's passing it over.
This movie and the sequels were truly good to make audiences laugh...of all things to happen to us at the movies seeing this classic....my friends dads truck got stripped in the parking lot in Griffith,IN...where was Tackleberry and Hightower when u needed them!!!! How I miss the 80s..
Oh my gosh! I love this part. David Graf is so awsome in this movie. You'd think that he was training in the military or the army but, police academy cadet was more like it for Tackleberry. I dig the last few moments in this part where Tackleberry takes that big ass gun of his and blows the whole target away. Funny stuff. Hope to see more. :)
I can relate to this scene. I was at the indoor gun range once, and we were shooting a 22 Rifle. The guy next to us casually pulls out his short barrel AR-15 and it was like a howitzer going off. It was startling every time he took a shot. The guy even let me shoot off a few rounds with it and it was shocking even though I was the one pulling the trigger.
The same happened, but with a 4" blued Colt Python and hot Fiocchi JSP 158 grain Magnum.357 (yes, I still remember that as though it was today). At the indoor range we were 3 only that moment and were shooting mainly with .22LR, .9 Luger, .38 Special, .45 Auto and a lever action rifle, most likely in .45 Colt or .44-40 WCF. They kept on shooting until they heard the booms and the fireblasts on my stand. All of the sudden, they ceased their fire and rushed to me to ask me what cannon was shooting with...! Safety officers and the guy who sold me the ammo were internally laughing (notwithstanding, they flinched at the very first rounds). As long as I'm sane, I will never forget it, indeed.
