Covering up a problem won't solve it, the lady is right, this is probably the biggest issue in the US. My mom has a college degree works in a lab at MAYO hospital and the second they raise rent or sell her home she won't have any options where to live its terrifying.
Sounds like some budgeting is needed because she probably makes pretty good money. might need to get a smaller place or something that way you don't have to go paycheck to paycheck cuz that's a terrible way to live

Being homeless not only means no adequate shelter. Being addicted, having untreated mental illness, no money for transportation etc. factors into their situation. On the other hand, you have folks working two, three jobs and they still can't afford the skyrocketing rents. It's still a wintery climate especially in the North. It's so cruel to take away the necessities they need to stay warm.😰
If only you looked at facts and not feelings. Those people with 2 or 3 jobs don't have skills for 1 good/great one. And addiction is one's own fault, and being homeless means that 99% of them gave up and didn't want to be part of society anymore. That's on them

@@MADOUT_VPS how and why the hell would anyone choose to be homeless? Sometimes unfortunate circumstances happen that may or may not be in their control. That's like saying a cancer patient chose to get cancer.
@@Squee_666_9 I have dealt with being on the verge of homelessness my entire adult life. I was for 4 months and lived in my car. I am autistic (it's called Asperger's outside of the US). People don't understand me. I am bullied and mocked by relatives, coworkers, and complete strangers. I say that to say the issue is so much deeper and complex than anyone wants to acknowledge. It's more than just building housing for people to live in. And the people who want to get upset the most about homelessness don't offer any solutions. We could have free housing and some people would still be homeless.
Throwing out their tents is so cruel. That's their only comfort and shield from the weather and a sense of security. Why not let them move? So incredibly wasteful too, they're just going to have to have someone donate them another or steal it (which I don't blame them), thus costing tax payers even more. They need to set aside a piece of land or build something like a parking garage where people can set up tents that won't "bother" people or be a "eye sore".

Sometimes I used to forget that I'm so lucky that I 've a home, nice parents and I could eat thrice a day. And many people can't even afford these basic needs.
This is so heartbreaking. They’re already dealing with so much and shelters fill up quickly and it can be hard to find a place to stay when there’s no plan to help these people 😕

They have to offer them shelter, they have plenty of room, but you can’t use in the shelter. These people would rather be on the street than get sober sadly. They don’t want the help they’re offered they wanna get high in a tent in a major urban center
For everyone complaining about this, you're more than welcome to invite homeless people into your OWN home. Since you care so much and dont want to see them in the streets.
Letting strangers into your home is dangerous and only a short term solution. They need to have affordable housing and a job that can put food in their mouth & a roof over their head. This is the GOVERNMENTS responsibility to provide this
I mean I was nearly attacked twice when I lived in NYC because of mentally unstable homeless camped outside, then I heard someone got stabbed by one 2 blocks away from me on the A train. It's sad but the city needs to crackdown on these issues, and yes - provide an avenue for the ones that want to get help... but not a lot do.
@@DY-td3ku well you know a lot of homeless people weren't born in nyc. They migrated there. And then they can't afford the rent but don't leave. What do you expect when you move to a city where rent is 2k a month? I want to live in nyc but I know I can't afford it... so I don't move there.

This makes me so sad bc no one knows how most of these people ended up on the street in the first place. No one but them know their story. The fact that the mayor is like "they can't be living in these unsuitable circumstances" makes me so angry. First of all I can almost bet ever $ I have that most of these people didn't wake up one day and choose to be homeless. Secondly by taking the only thing they have as far as a home and throwing it away or into a dump truck and expecting them to live any better just blows my mind. Last but not least how dare the city take away the only shelter these people have and basically in a nut shell say "figure it out bc we're not going to do s*** to help you in any kind of way". Makes me sick to my stomach that other human beings can treat fellow human beings like literal garbage. The mayor surely wouldn't like it if all the homeless came to his home and started taking things out and throwing them in the trash/dump truck. Praying for you all in this time of need. Please be safe out there.
I know! They move to NYC hoping the city will solve all their problems. They can't afford the rent they already knew was high. Some struggled and gave up and others just hoped the city would give them what they needed. Newsflash: don't move to a city you can't afford. Especially when you KNOW rent is 2k$+ month. Just bc you're homeless doesn't mean you shouldn't follow the laws like the rest of the world. Want to live in a tent? Go move to a campground
As a teenager I had a car with a blown engine, for that I didn't plan to renew the tag until I could afford to fix it. It wasn't even beat up looking, but after 3 months of sitting on the lawn, somebody complained and they put a lien on my parent's house so I had to end up junking the car. It felt so unfair (especially at that age) that I lost my possession because it was "uncomfortable" to someone's vanity. And that was just a car. I can't imagine how it would feel to be in these people's position. They barely have anything as it is, and even that little bit gets stripped away from them. I do understand the situation has grown out of control and I don't have the solution, but this route just seems like too much, too abruptly. I at least hope there's some accountability to where they can get their stuff back from storage. Sadly though, I'm doubtful of that.
It's a fact...what they're not telling you is that most homeless people don't want to live in a homeless shelter because shelters have a strict no drugs policy and they rather do their drugs.
Yes and no. A lot of horrid things go on in those shelters aside from drugs. Besides, they know they can go so them somewhere else and come back. It really is unsafe for a lot of people at shelters......and for the people who work them, too. Rape is a HUGE concern in many shelters that isn't talked about a much as it should be.

The mayors idea of clearing up homelessness is by throwing away people's belongings. As a mayor of a city, you're suppose to make it better, not make it worse.
Then tell employers to stop asking for experience and not training people to work to build homes or else home prices and rents will keep rising to fast out of control cause not enough housing is being built

@@Grant-co5ef I donate to my local homeless shelter and my phone is old and used. Got it for $50 from a Dr I worked with. I'm not into high tech items but that's beside the point. I'm just observing that too many people want to complain about the the state of our society while simultaneously never doing anything to help improve anything. Affordable housing would be a good start. But then we have the mental health issues that come with many homeless individuals. Do we just add more taxes to working people to house them? Lots of things that need to be figured out. But simply put, help your own community the best you can then branch out more if able. Whatever is dear to your heart, help in that area. Homeless and poverty could be solved tomorrow if the government would take responsibility for it. They arguably cause it by allowing discriminating employers to just ignore them and not hire them while hiding behind freedom to hire who you want that gives too much room for discrimination and the poverty it causes. Not to mention the lack of transportation that contributes as well when there could be a program that partners with buses and cab companies to provide transportation through the exchange of vouchers or electronic benefits no different than food stamps. A person's productivity is pretty limited without transportation.
If they were suitable, they would be hired. Private businesses have the right to decide who to hire. People should take responsibility for themselves and their community, rather than expecting the government to do som
