Crazy to think that the crown Vic is now a part of a “retro fleet.” My agency still has like 25 of them left in use. I actually spent all last week patrolling in an unmarked Vic. Wish I could’ve kept it instead of getting my caprice back from the shop!
ShockAndAwe417 The Caprice is crazy fast I’m sure though. I do understand. I have a former police crown Vic that I do enjoy driving. I can see why you enjoyed the Crown Vic. Here in Naples Collier county still uses a lot of the P71’s.
Ezra Bridger Debatable. It definitely handles better and is quite a bit faster, but everywhere else it’s worse from my experience. Caprice isn’t as comfortable, the V6 ones we have breakdown all the time, and there isn’t as much trunk space.
my uncle was CHP until he retired in the early 2000's, so all the way from the 70's, 80's and 90's we would take a trip to his place every x-mas, he always had a pursuit vehicle and it was always the best part of the holiday when he braught whatever it was he was driving that year home for me to check out, big block Plymouths and dodges, mustang's and Camaro's plus the odd caprice/crown vic.. RIP Uncle Richard! (That's Officer Dic as he preferred! hehe )
My first FHP patrol car was the 92 Mustang. Second was a 1994 Caprice LT1. Third was a 1997 Crown Vic. Fourth was the 2002 Camaro. Fifth was the Mercury Marauder……loved them all.
Hey Nick, I am gonna try to keep this short. Simple civilian over here, no police ties, really appreciate your videos. I am not sure who they are focused at, but to me it's refreshing to see you presenting law enforcement in a simpler, we are all still humans light. I know our climates have changed and a lot of shows depict the bad in cops, but it's true, you all have a tough job, and we just need to remember that just follow the law and be respectful of law enforcement. And for the record, the Crown Vic is nice and all, but I am from the era where it was sick as hell to see those 5.0 troopers hauling ass to catch someone!!!!! Hell when I got pulled over in my younger years, during the ticket, I asked if I could walk around the car, the trooper laughed, waived the ticket and showed me the inside of his mustang, thank you officer!!!
Real New Yorkers remember when the nysp had those Camaros as well. They would haul ass on the taconic state parkway and had real handling advantages over most cars with a seasoned veteran behind the wheel!
A buddy of mine that has now retired from the FHP drove one of the Mustang LX 5.0 for years here in Santarosa County Florida and man was she fast for the time period, I absolutely loved it!! AH THE MAN TRANS!!
A co-worker of mine when I was in Orlando had a '92 Mustang 5.0 that he modded to just over 1000 HP. It got a lot of police attention even when it wasn't moving.
I was at Patrick AFB in FL from 1988-1989 and those 5.0 Mustangs rocked. FHP and Brevard CO had us train with them often. So much fun. Thanks for the Retro (aka OLD GUY) video. This retired gent enjoyed the ride.
The city I still serve in bought several of the retired FHP vehicles in the late 1980's to continue service. Those vehicles had been well maintained and served with our police department for several more years. We received 3 1986 Caprice's, 1 1988 Crown Vic, and 2 1986 Mustangs. One of the Mustangs was purchased by a local car collector, and restored to the original FHP Black and Tan, and still is on the road today.
NICK YOU ALWAYS CRACK ME UP AND YES I WATCH 100% of all your videos. I served 25yrs as a LEO and miss it so much. I have to watch videos and do a lot of other things to stay up to date.
👍Great work Nick; awesome content!👍 I still love the Federal Signal JetSonic/JetStream lightbars!❤️ They were very _”sleek”_ at the time & had super light output with all the internal mirrors. I worked on 100s of these back in the day when I had my own business as an emergency vehicle upfitter.
Great segment, great series. Definitely got the production down tight. Come up to the Sunset Coast and do some agencies around Tampa/St. Pete/Clearwater. Well done.
I GREW UP IN BRADENTON FL, never knew about that cool fact that the very first academy was there , also I remember those 5.0's and SS Camaro's they were bad ass and fast AF
my personal favorite of the Trooper liveries...especially the Caprice 9C1 of the 90's and the Crown Vics with the dog dish hubcaps. Anyone remember the CHip 1979 Z28? or the late 90's Volvo?
At the end of the day, the Crown Vic is without a doubt, the winner. Filmed in Miami, bruh thats my HOME! Parents survived Andrew in 1992 and literally changed everything. I dig the videos and the great outlook you have with police! My car is a 2005 Crown Vic Police Interceptor, MORE IMPRESSIVE is that my car CAME from the Miami Police Department!
He says believe it or not at the Crown Vic. being the most requested car on his channel like in disbelief . The simple answer is It's a really beautiful looking car, slow and basic but very good looking especially in the rear end!
I lived in Florida for 45 years and I never seen a Camaro FHP Near Lake Mary I seen a FHP pickup. It had the perfect FHP color scheme and had front and rear ka band radar....and thru the years I seen FHP motorcycles in Orlando and Jacksonville
DEAR NICK YOU SHOULD DO A COP CARS EPISODE WITH THE MISSOURI HIGHWAY PATROL IT WOULD BE A BLESSING THANK YOU FOR ALL THE HARD WORK YOU PUT IN TO YOUR VIDEOS.
Biggest problem with the 5.0 Mustangs is that in a high speed collision, they had a tendency to split in half just behind the driver’s seat. Made for easy extrication of the victims but not for good outcomes. 30 years as a Paramedic, and yes, I saw it myself several times.
I know the state of Alaska is quite far from Florida hah but the Alaskan state Troopers are probably one of my favorites and I think that would be a cool video to do.
Great intro, Nick! Awesome video too. Love these cars. The Old FHP Car is my favorite. I have a old FHP Mustang patrol car on my channel during a car show. Kudos. Well done. Stay safe, Brother. Oh...I'm a big Nascar fan. Chase Elliot #9 is my driver!!!
I'd like to see an episode with LSP or Mississippi highway patrol but I don't think those cars are as entertaining as FHP or anything but overall very nice video
Thank you both for the great videos, tough choice , The mustang was a cool looking police vehicle, the Camero was probably very fast, but the crown Vic was my favorite , but I wish I had the 39 ford
@@SnowTheTimberWolf It did. I saw that news title one time without the Fremont PD name on it but I knew it was their Tesla. So far it's still a worthy try.
I was with FHP from 1987-1990 and then quit to go to law school. Regarding the Jetsonic light bar. If you turned of the motor and ran the blue lights, your battery would be drained in less than 10 minutes.
