Oh, I’m so very sorry for the loss of Jasper to his Handler. He was a remarkable police dog and I know he will be sorely missed. Dogs aren’t just dogs, they are family!

I lost a Great Dane to GDV or gastric dilatation and volvulus. It was very similar to Jasper. He seemed to doing better and had started to eat a little bit and then just collapsed and died. It is heartbreaking I have had dogs for 50 years and only had this happen once and that is enough for a lifetime.

Rest in peace, Jasper. ♡♡ He meant a lot to a lot of the police men and women, his caring yet furious personality will never forgotten along with his beautiful appearance. I feel extremely bad and fell to tears, he seemed like such a lonely companion. ♡ Good luck for all the other dogs and all the other police units out there. I am not the only one who shed a few tears over the lovely soul’s death, am I?

Some people purposefully breed the most aggressive dogs (of any breed - pitbull, Akita, Shepherd) at home. As they said, status symbol on the street, and a danger to others.

She said it perfectly "Nothing will replace." " But having another to focus on." That's really how it goes with animals. I've had bird, dogs, rodents, fish, turtles, and cats since I was born. With each one you create a bond, an unbreakable, unique to that animal bond. When they unfortunately pass away, it leaves a hole you cannot ever fill. But giving that love, time and attention to a new soul in your life, and doing right by that animal as you would your last, always helps the healing.

This is Doug's wife. I love this show. I just discovered it yesterday. Yes I cried when Jasper died. I love animals. They are incredible and I love how they can solve crimes and get the bad guys.

Watching from Alaska, & I can tell you how much the majority of us love & cherish our dogs. They R our best friends & constant companions. I feel this officers sadness, loss & pain. Police officer Jasper has my love & respect even though he's gone & I never knew him!! The officers life was richer for having him in it!! 🐕‍🦺 ❤️

interesting that the dog had scars all over it's face... perhaps had been used for fighting??? unfortunately most pitbull owners are the main reason the breed have such a bad reputation as they are used as a status symbol rather than a loved family pet

I have a friend who was with a K-9 unit and those dogs mean everything to them. They are partners - they take them home and totally care for them. He said German Shepherds are also know for hip dysplasia. Their hips give out and they have trouble walking. I'm surprised so many agencies use them. LOVE those Spaniels! Just cute as can be and very loyal. Truly gifts from above.

Showline German Shepherds .. or Frogherds, those poor creatures. Those are bred for working, so the risk is much lower. It still happens, as for all big dog breeds.

One more process I adopted I use to get her blood check after every 3 months. It’s vital to see dog stool and general behaviour which can predict any trouble
