Finally! A police officer who understands and recognizes the importance of a collapsible baton. The Peacekeeper hands down is leaps and bounds ahead of Asp, Monadnock or other chincy ineffective striking weapons.
Absolutely! My agency doesn't supply much in the way of gear, but allows a wide latitude for us to carry what we want. If i am going to carry something, I want it to be the best I can afford. I was the first, but after I bought it, more and more deputies are getting them.
There was a brand the army used and just striking the dummy bag they bent. Those peackeepers are for baseball and still work they don't spur either on glass like asp did for a while
@@TheBettencourts gave my peace keeper 26in to my dad he was like oh this is nice has good weight. I have the 21inch the 26 was too heavy for me lol stay safe out there
This was an interesting video. I have watched too many police videos on RU-vid to count and have always been curious about the equipment carried on the vest and how it's used. If I were running things, I would immediately double all police salaries because I'd want to attract and retain the most competent people possible. The value of a good cop, one who thinks well and reacts well, can't be overstated. In case others have not done so, let me also thank you for your service. Law enforcement do not get the respect and appreciation they deserve.
We just got the same carrier. Actually the Bothell 6501. Same as yours just with a few extra little pockets on the carrier. It came in today in fact. I searched carrier setups because I'm in the process of setting mine up right now before I head out to work at 1600. So far it's kinda a PITA...I can tell it will take some getting used to after wearing a traditional vest and gun belt for 15+ years.
I trust you have adapted nicely? Very few of us actually preferred the duty belt to the carrier. And those that did, it was aesthetics more than comfort or performance, they just liked the traditional look better. We did have one guy with a bum shoulder who went back to the duty belt.
God bless you deputy, my goal is to be in a sheriffs office/PD (mostly learning to SO) after the military thank you for your service may god protect you in your worst call outs
I have a blue force gear "battle belt" that you can attach both normal duty gear and molle gear to. I pair that with a 5.11 lightweight plate carrier and divide my gear pretty evenly between the two. Weight feels super nicely balanced
I have seen them, but never tried one. They are not authorized in my agency. If you can use it and it works for you, awesome! I would like to play with one of those sometime.
Like I was saying, the three mag pouch is slightly elevated from where I carried my three mag pouch on my belt for 20 plus years. I went to a force on force training to test it and found my hand naturally found the mags with no effort under stress and the admin pouch did not get in the way at all. I was concerned about this as well. I did note that if I use extended mages it could be an issue.
On the esstac kywi magazine, did you sew in the additional velcro or how did you get the velcro to stay in place? I'm interested in the esstac kywi pouch, but wish they had the option to have the magazine facing forward like how you have it.
Officer here... it was actually very easy. There are kydex inserts which are held in by velcro. I removed them and after seeing the configuration, just inserted some additional velcro with stick on backing in the position I wanted them. I was prepared to sew it, but I have been jerking on it and have not had ANY movement, so for now, I am content to leave as is. I love them once I modified them.
You've plenty of LEO experience so you obviously know what works best, but just food for thought, maybe switch your small admin pouch around with the 3 mag pouch. It just appears that in a high stress situation your admin pouch would block your ability to get to your mags. Either way, thanks for your service. Stay safe!
I thought about it before I mounted it like this. The three mag pouch is slightly elevated from where I carried my three mag pouch on my belt for 20 plus years. I went to a force on force training to test it and found my hand naturally found the mags with no effort under stress and the admin pouch did not get in the way at all. Good looking out though. I appreciate all input!
Do you have any issues with cutting off the excess from the holster? Like with stuff getting up in there or hitting/damaging the light since it’s exposed now. I agree with you, that excess looks stupid and serves no purpose. We use Glock 22s and then of course I have the TLR1-HL. I can stick my finger in there and there is almost 1” of unused space
No, actually it improves performance for me on 2 levels. I no longer bump it on things, and we had problems at my last agency with getting gravel caught in the holster and either prohibiting the insertion of the weapon or locking the weapon in so we had to disassemble the holster with a loaded weapon in it. Now debris pretty much just falls through. Plus, it looks high speed / low drag. know the State Police in our state are doing it to all of their holsters.
If this is your dream find a mentor close to your area and ride a long and follow his suggestions.... officers are more then willing to pull you under their wing and help you pursue your dream. I'm rooting for ya! -The Mrs.
@@chrisriley9127 it’s been a while now and I think I’ve lost interest in being an officer, too much stress for the AVG cop and risks, and I also want to reach more in life. You’re right and if I ever do become a cop I’ll make sure I watch myself and don’t get ahead of myself, thanks.
What's the brand, and model of your vest.? I really like your set up, i use something similar. I'm just a need to buy a new vest and currently looking for one at the moment.
I'm sure you've changed your setup since making this but you'd be better served with the Esstac Kywi pistol mag pouches on the belt .. gonna be tough getting the mag's past the 511 shotgun pouch & it'll get you stuck right in an OODA loop .. I use the Kywi & HSGI gear also . That was a really good idea to use the Blackhawk speed clips BTW
Everyone comments on that pouch. He had no trouble accessing the mags.. but, you are totally correct, he did end up switching back to his main duty belt just a few ago. He just prefers it better he says. Thank you for watching! -Mrs.
I have been operating this set up now for almost a year. Been in plenty of fights and situations that placed stress on it. The only thing I am considering changing is the extra taser holder. Dont care much for the construction of this one.
My department allows either. They actually supply both vest carriers. If you choose to wear an external, you must purchase all of your molle gear. Same with all your duty belt gear. You must wear the internal carrier to court or anytime the class A uniform is worn.
I like to keep my belt fairly clean, just a pistol and taser. After all the years, I am just more comfortable getting everything off my belt. And yes, most of the belt holster items were incompatible with the molle.
@@chrislinder7558 well keep at it. It's a hard job but well worth it. A lot of agencies are hiring...... but it still takes a lot of training. I chose dispatch to start in. And decided not to move forward.... -the wife
where did you get your mic for your radio? im assuming you also have the ear piece that connects to It as well! I've been looking for that touch to talk mic everywhere!
I got it at my local police supply, 911 Supply. They are a chain and have multiple locations all up and down the west coast at least. They do have a web site www.911supply.com
Great video and duty stuff. But put your radio pouch baton and handcuff pouch and oc spray back on your belt. I have my taser, TQ, first aid kit and 2 AR-15 soft mag holders on my vest.
Thanks for watching Douglas. He loved this set up and it worked for him with where everything was placed. That said... so many years in, and he went back to the old fashioned full on duty belt. He's an old timer set in his ways! :-) Be safe out there for us please!
Hi, I have a question, and your probably not going to see this but, is there and option to use an External setup rather then a internal setup? For example, do you get to decide if you want in external or internal setup?
Oh great question.... because it also one I asked.. It's up to departments on uniform. Most are changing to external because it relieves the pressure on the hips. Overall, in His department they can choose what works best for them individually within a set of guidelines. The Mrs.
Leo to Leo. Your department looks like they’re doing something right with tac vests. My department recently went to outter vest but not tac vest carriers. If they do. I will do something very similar to this setup.
Hey boss what kinda vest is that my department only gives us the tact vest you have to Velcro and in Velcro to out on and I hate it. If you can please let me know
He made that one... He took one that had them facing flat.. and turned the bottom insert.. and they fit sideways... It was genius how he altered it.. He messaged the company but they wouldn't go for marketing it that way. -Mrs.
Each department has their own set of dress standards. The vests were actually created and mostly adopted to alleviate back strain and damage from the heavy duty belts. Which medically causes severe back pain in many long term officers. I look at it as there traveling office. Pens note pads phones... gear.. TFW -Mrs.
I believe his work provided that! All the items on the outter carrier vest were purchased from all over the internet!!!! Like our UPS man's name is Jason and he knows us very well!!!!! TFW!
I use Peerless Hinged handcuffs, in black. I like them because they were the first hinged ones I bought in the early 90's that folded flat and never had a problem with them, except 1. I carry a pair of smaller chain cuffs for small arrestees in a pocket.
I want to be a Police Officer and I would pick the Vest Carrier when I become a cop and the things that I would put on the Vest are Handcuffs Pepper Spray,Magazines,Flashlight Asp and tourniquet on the Vest and I would put the Firearm,Taser and Radio on the Belt
I love your enthusiasm! I wish you good luck through the process! One thing I have seen in the past... is my officer changes up his vest just.. It is ever evolving as you go through your career.
So I am curious do you carry OC? Also how come you carry an AR mag? I am seeing more and more police officers carry those. I guess why carry the mag if the gun is in the car?
@Orion My question still stands why carry a magazine if the gun is in the car? I can understand carrying pistol mags cause you have a pistol. But the AR is in the car and therefore you would need to go to the car to get it anyway so why not just have the AR mags with the AR?
jaime munoz it’s handy for times when you grab the rifle quick and take off towards the problem. Having a spare mag handy is a good idea. If you deploy the rifle often I think it makes sense. Then you don’t have to worry about throwing an extra mag in your pocket (where it may not fit) or slinging another bag over your shoulder in addition to a slung rifle.
@@jaimemunoz5920 I could, but that would take way too much time and I'm not so sure that you would understand. Let's just simplify this and go with it's better to have and not need, than to need and not have.
It's an actual leatherman all in one limited edition tool, he's had for decades, that he lost and couldn't replace and then we literally went on a massive hunt for it and found it.... Hahahaha... Oh that thing.... LOL TFW!
TheBloker9... He says his rank is Servant. My goodness I love my man. Melts my heart after all these years he is out there still protecting our citizens and determined to make a difference. Thank you for watching! - The Mrs. (because my man literally was running out the door!)
Have you considered using a soft molle taser holster from either HSGI or SquidTac? Less bulky and less weight. Check it out on Amazon www.amazon.com/dp/B083Q3TZMP . The Squidtac model is level 2 retention. Cool video!
Good catch, many people put their tourniquet on their vest. I actually was given an ankle holster medical kit prior to getting a vest, and got used to it there. No sense in changing it if I am already trained to look for it there in stress and find that placement comfortable.
Tourniquets are best not carried on our vest. We wear vest because there’s a good chance that’s where we’ll be shot.. so why put a life saving option where we’ll most likely be shot and it could be damaged. Belt and or pocket carry for sure
Close... Righty that shoots lefty! He's a certain kind of special. Which is perfect for me.. Because I am a lefty.. and I sneak steal all the cool holsters he orders himself. Hehehe -Mrs.
It looks that way, but the curvature of the set up actually tilts the mags forward / and out from under the pouch. I ran it this way for a couple of years without issues. I recently have reconfigured, not because of this, but because my assignment has changed and I wanted to drop some of the weight.
You definitely don't work for a CA agency. I like how most other states/counties allow their regular beat officers to wear the outer vest. Its way too menacing out over here.
Use to work several CA agencies. The ones I worked are now doing external carriers as well. Everything in law enforcement is on a pendulum. It will swing one way for a while and then swing back. Stay safe and keep taking the fight to the street so that the thought of you will keep the people with bad intentions awake in their beds at night.
Everyone is able to set theirs up how they like in my current agency. We have another agency in our area who dictates setup. Whoa baby are there a lot of complaints! But whatever works for you is the right answer.
