Sources confirmed to News4JAX that a police K-9 was shot in Jacksonville and flown to an emergency veterinary clinic in Jacksonville Beach for treatment.

Isnt it ironic. When police put a dog in imminent danger,its called "heroic duty". When a dog is shot by police for protecting its fenced yard. Its because police were "afraid for their life". Double standards.

Critical human patients are air lifted to trauma emergency hospitals all the time. Those hospitals even have their own helicopter landing pads, veterinary emergency hospitals don't- this was a rare occurence at a street intersection. Don't comment from your a** just because you think less of a dog.
They care less about the dog,if they know they are allowing it to be shot or killed. Its called animal abuse,unless you are civilian and your dog gets killed,protecting its fenced yard. Then its animal abuse. Double Standards are what make cops "heros".
I have a retired military dog and she will still take a bullet for me. Do you understand what these police ans military working dogs cost along of money and training
I work in a trauma bay and believe me we see a lot of black and latinos get air lifted to hospitals- car accidents and GSWs.... I'll take a K9 any day over low lifes any human color.
Waste of tax dollars. This is a animal. Yes it is someone’s animal, but do we as people have the money to life flight our animals to a veterinarian due to their injuries??? JSO wants more money and this is why.
Tax Dollars. Police working dogs military working dogs are Police officers and military working dogs are soldiers. I'm retired naval officer and I was a k9 handlers. They are not pets
