Having worn pads in highschool, then plate carrier with my marines, I wanted to argue about the difference. But after remembering my time in pads, ya it's 99% true. Little things like that can help a lot after rucking several miles or after busting your ass in a good pt session. Not to mention it is better at retaining heat.

@donaldallen1768 Год назад
I'm a former police officer, I use to pull it away from my chest. Because you wear them tight to protect your sides. If you don't then you won't have any protection. It will cause you to hyperventilate if you don't.
@ajsmith46
@ajsmith46 2 месяца назад
Good answer. Body armor is heavy, extremely hot, and does not breathe. Even worse with the SAPI plates inserted. Extra bulk, some extra weight, and even less breathability. In Iraq, I held the collar of my vest and would pull it slightly away from my chest to get some fresh air in there every so often to cool the pooling sweat. Wearing it for 8-15 hours out of the day gets uncomfortable so any amount of comfort you can get is a huge relief. It’s not a power stance, not preparing for a fight, or a way to remind people you have gear.. just comfort.

I used to be a cop for a few years. The vest is also a good pillow. When you sit in your unit your vest sort of moves up a little like a turtle shell and you just let your head fall down and rest your chin on top the vest. But the vest gets hot, and you're constantly adjusting it, moving it around, pulling the neck part away from you, etc. It's literally like having a turtle shell. Most police vests can stop any handgun, but not rifle. Knife can go through a vest like butter.

Are they able to grapple one another and flip or push another to the ground or is that sort of contact is not allowed?

The cop was literally standing right there listening to him confess that was his intent then not even 3 minutes later there he goes answering pointed questions by the same cop DIRECTING him on what was needed to be said yes to then and ONLY then did he say WHATEVER was needed to get his mother removed. This is crapy police work and they are going to permanently sever whatever was left of this mother and son relationship. Disgusting. That cop and all those cops who allowed that to happen like that should be stripped of their badge and fired. If they have shown to have this level of integrity then wow they cannot be trusted when need to handle more important matters. Their word and integrity must of a certain level to command the respect needed for that job. Those are disgraceful jokes. Not officers of the law.

Just wear soft armor. There is no valid reason to walk around in hard armor all day long. If you want to destroy your back keep doing it, but if you want to stay young just wear safelife level 3a soft armor under your uniform shirt and keep a vest with hard armor in your cruiser. Hard armor is designed to withstand rifle rounds, soft armor is designed to withstand what people normally carry on the streets.

As a police tactical instructor for almost 40 yrs and still currently one, I can say for certain it doesn't give you a tactical advantage at all, in fact, it allows a bad guy to pin your hands in a very disadvantageous position, that has and will result in rotator cuff injury, and wrist injury, which can be catastrophic against a determined bad guy trying to get your weapon. You are welcome to disolution yourself all you like on this subject, but I have proved this over 100 times in CQB situations and every time my evals have been on point. So I am not writing this to convince you, I am simply wishing to convey facts to those of you, who want to get home to your families at shift end, stop holding the vest and tucking your hands into your vest and pockets.
