Thanks for a nice and thorough review, Tom. I should add that you can also play with the Corrupt Cop in a four-player game, just as you can add a Corrupt Cop to three-player games (if you really want it to be crazy), or TWO to the six-player game. You can customise as you please :-)
Looks very very interesting. I love co-op games, especially those with a traitor. This one seems to be a bit shorter than many co-ops too, which is a plus in my book. Definitely gonna check this out.
I view those comparisons more as broad generalizations. I am eager to play this one because it does diverge from the Pandemic paradigm in many ways! :P
I am hoping this game will evolve in the way Dominant Species did...2nd or 3rd edition will feature better art and design...and I could see them setting different editions/expansions in specific real or fictional cities (as the have done in the GTA series)...I'll wait a bit and see how it develops!
Adding a traitor to this game was a fantastic idea. There just aren't enough games with traitors in them. Thanks for clarifying the fact that there can be a dirty cop in a four player game. This is ensured that I will, in fact, be purchasing this game.
And good call Tom on the top down video game reference...exactly what I was thinking...GTA 1...that is the problem...looks a bit dated! Hope it will spruced up a bit before general release!
Tom - We have the game (2nd Edition) and terrific family fun; and have now added Chicago PD, Lethal Weapon & Columbo, etc. pictures (with added Rubber Cement) to the character cards. Further Mattel miniature cars added more fun to the game too. A keeper !
You go around cleaning up crime (outbreaks), whilst trying to solve a murder case (finding a cure), whilst avoiding mass outbreaks (outbreaks of crime), whilst looking around your team trying to work out who is working for the mob (same as the traitor in the Pandemic expansion). The spine of the game is essentially the same...
I got the same reaction too. LoL. But, will this board fit to Zombicide game? If it doe, I will house rule it and mix them together. Imagine police officers have to face zombies instead of street punks!
Yup, why they couldn't at least create a vibrant, neon-lit city for the board with different coloured and detailed buildings is beyond me...it still looks like a Kickstarter prototype to me...disappointing!
