When I started my LEO career back in the 1980s, we were issued leather Sam Browne belts and leather holsters with simple snapped straps for securing our revolvers. And of course a Remington 870P shotgun. Later in my career we went to Safariland for our belts and holsters. We were issued PR24 batons back in the 1980s and 1990s, but nowadays they are really only used for crowd control, with collapsible batons being more common. After my retirement from public service, I now work as a personal protective officer and trainer. Depending on the job, I wear shoulder holster, if driving a crossdraw holster, or a kydex IWB and OWB holster. But Safariland holsters are still popular, again dependant on specific duties. For long guns, some use shotguns but AR SBRs are most common, again mission dependant.
Great video and duty belt set up! While going to college for Police Science I worked armed security. Armored car and hospital security and Harley Davidson security. Then I paid for my Academy and graduated. I got on our small city Dept. of 18000 people. I'm on my 25th year now. I paid 500 bucks for my first Safariland Sam Brown 94 belt, and pouches. 2 cuff pouches radio, light pouch, Gerber tool and mag pouch left side. Right side key holder, OC spray, Safariland triple retention leather holster, cuff pouch and glove pouch. That was in 1995. In 2017 I tossed my duty belt and pouches away. I paid another 500 bucks for another set up hope it last till I retire. I use a Bianchi elite duty belt with that same plastic buckle you have on your duty belt. I have all Basket weave Safariland pouches and duty belt. Our Dept. Only allowed leather plain Sam Brown or Basket weave leather Sam Brown belt. With or without the buckle! It's started to tear by the buckle area?!!! We used Smith and Wesson 4506 45 ACP then 10 years later SIG Sauer P 220 45 ACP. Then in 2015 we went to Sig Sauer P 320 45 cal.
Our Police Dept. Has our first aid kit in our Squad since I started in 1995. We used Smith and Wesson 4506 until 2014. We went to SIG Sauer P320 45 ACP. WE HAVE TQ and Norcam now. We use all leather Safariland basket weave, or plane black Sam Brown belts. With or with out the buckle 94 belt. We use Safariland basket weave or plane black pouches. We bought our own equipment back in 1992 police science days. Then we used our stuff in the academy. No nylon or Glocks.
I have always wanted to go into law enforcement Even as a kid this fall or winter I'm going to start my Leo career and I'm currently working in security in Oregon and have roughly two years of experience I just started carrying a duty belt and it's nice I enjoy having it I have received many compliments while in uniform working but unfortunately i had to buy all of my gear
Just because you qualify with OC, baton, tazer, whatever doesn't mean you won't get sued. What keeps you from being sued is commonsense and not doing stupid stuff...
