They thought they had won a prize but instead, all they won was a quick trip to jail. It was all part of a sting operation by the Phoenix police to catch people with outstanding warrants, mainly DUI's. (2002)
The embarrassment of being embarrassed by a room full of cops who clearly found this whole sting operation a comical event at the expense of the people getting arrested...dammm!!
I think it's cruel and unusual personally. Not that one should ignore warrants and try to skirt the system; but it's unfair, unjust, and borderline entrapment by bringing suspects in en masse under the false pretense of a sweepstakes win or whatever.
@@cannabisflame entrapment is when the cops make you do something illegal to charge you with the crimes this was not entrapment this was a sting operation that law enforcement are allowed to do to catch people with arrest warrants
A free man now but still always gotta look over his shoulder.. I've had warrants before and ik the feeling. He should've just gotten it taken care of then.. Unless he's facing life in prison for murder or other serious felonies. Im warrant free and i still get paranoid around police..
"After the door was locked, " - *violently shakes locked door* - "they banged on the door" - *bangs on the door* This woman is very considerate to show what she is saying in case we are stupid.
@@shamusbob7969 I'm not understanding your question. I try my best to answer. A dvd player is worthless now. It runs movies that's stored on disc. Today there is no need for a dvd player because there's so many ways to watch movies for free. Kodi for example, a free software you can download on pc/ android devices/ cell phones/ xbox one. Not paying a dime for content. Or you could just use a normal web browser and google what you wanna watch. If you still have a DVD player you are hoarding for nothing. These people that went to jail feel really dumb now.
I don't know anywhere where a parking ticket is a criminal offense, and you can go to jail for it. They were talking about DUI specifically in this video. As a side note moving violations are normally criminal.
@@Jim26D what you said is not correct, the news and police claimed it was DUI, she claimed in the moment of being arrested it was "a ticket". I would bet a good amount of money she had a DUI or similar arrest warrant.
@@Jim26D Also just to clarify when she said ticket she didn't say "parking ticket" in the USA i got a "ticket" is normally meant as something that is criminal. The law does not have the authority to arrest over a parking ticket.
There was a deal about a year ago where some company was sending out an unsolicited free gift card. It really did have money on it and a lot of people online were trying to figure out what the catch was. I got one in the mail and cut it up. It just seemed too fishy.
Yooooo im with that chick at the end 💯💯 they were like "Did you know you had fines to pay? Did you know you had a warrant?" She goes...."uh yeah...but not that it you would go this far"
Its disturbing how a lot of people are defending people with DUI warrants. Its a scummy tactic the police used but putting other people at risk is much more scummy.
Agreed. While I don't really like the bait and switch tactics, anyone with DUI warrants needs taken off the road. Especially if they are repeat offenders. You can risk your own life all you want, but when you risk MY life, it's personal.
@@brentmorris262 by giving the police the ability to lie and deceive us your putting everyone life at risk you idiot. all they have to do is lie and say they have proof you did it even if they dont and get you to confess when they offer you a deal so they can convict you. its speculated around 60% of the prison population is incarcerated for a crime they did not commit so i do think giving the police the authority to lie to us is risking much more than letting a few people who had a little too much to drink go when we look at the big picture you ignorant moron.
@Viktor Sandhagen hey it means these people were charged with driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs and did not report to court or pay their fine.
You don't get arrested for _an_ unpaid ticket. You get arrested for _lots_ of unpaid tickets, failure(s) to appear, etc. (the video, and ancient news story itself, doesn't give any details of what any of these people did to be part of this sting operation.)
@@duke3250 she wasn't lying and acting. It was because of a fucking parking ticket bullshit not being paid. She is a ditsy girl, she didn't know she did anything wrong because cops intentionally try and give people tickets in a way that they will not be aware of them and not pay them back and then show up with a warrant for arrest. bunch of garbage
Only in the 90's would some shit like this work. Jesus christ. Edit: after reading all the replies to this, I've decided the majority of you are correct and I am wrong. This definitely still works today. I have this issue where I think people aren't fucking morons and sometimes it leads me into lala land. Cheers to you all and cheers to the free Alexa I'm going to pick up tomorrow! Can't believe my luck but I got the email and I'm going to get mine! Cheers Edit-edit. Sorry I haven't responded to the comments. ... as many can probably guess,, there was no Alexa. You'd think I would have seen that coming.... but I'm out now! Free at last, free at last.
Ok but I learnt that in aa there's so many ppl who drink & drive, just a fraction gets caught. Stop lying to yourselves. I saw those yt videos of cops, lawyers, 🤔 maybe even a judges ,,, etc., catching theirs too. I told a youngen a couple of days ago, he prob wasn't that much younger 🤔🤷 that back in my days Clinton got on MTV to rock the vote. And thats when he told us that he used to smoke weed but never inhaled. .. Stop acting holier than tho just bc u didn't get caught. Stop lying too.
I’m pretty sure that the cost of renting out that building, and putting half the police department on staff for the day, probably totaled more than all those tickets combined.
Funny follow up that they didn’t cover: “As the men and women were being loaded into the vehicles, many were still asking if they would receive their DVD player.” 😂😂😂
2:03 there's a beautiful joke in there somewhere you're already a DUI ass person and you show up LATE to something where they tried to arrest you and you make a scene lol
When you're partly that person that's all like " say I won't! Say I won't" but don't realize that it works the other way too. " Some ppl just won't make it in life." Me: "say I won't." 🤗
