In December 2019, Fardin Kazemi was carrying goods from Iran to Poland, when his 31-year old truck broke down, leaving him stranded.
Polish truck drivers quickly rallied to Kazemi's aid, and with the help of crowdfunding, managed to raise 99,000 PLN (26,000 USD) in less than 24 hours to pay for his vehicle repairs.
That figure grew in the preceding weeks to over 250,000 PLN (60,000 USD) which was enough to buy Kazemi a brand new truck.
Due to US sanctions on Iran, however, the original planned purchase of the truck was not possible, so Kazemi had to return home to Iran to find out what type of truck he was allowed to buy.
The issue was settled when a 2013 Scania truck was found for him and he returned to Poland to complete the purchase.
"This is the best thing that ever happened to me" Kazemi said, as he climbed down from his new cab, saying thank you in Polish.
Kazemi, who used a translation app on his phone to communicate with his new found Polish friends, is now waiting for the purchase of a new truck trailer before driving back home to Iran
