Polish film director Agnieszka Holland: "The artist who's afraid, isn't fully free" 

On 3 May 2024, World Press Freedom Day, VUB and ULB awarded the Difference Day Honorary Title to Polish film director Agnieszka Holland. On this occasion, Polish-Belgian writer, philosopher and VUB PACT-curator Alicja Gescinska had a conversation with Holland about what motivates her and what she aims to achieve with her filmmaking.
In her recent film Green Border, Holland portrayes the harrowing situation and inhumane treatment of refugees in the border region between Poland and Belarus. She garnered international praise, but was also the subject of a hate campaign.
