That's as far as I would go on the black Piano finish as there is only so much clear there. I have used sonax perfect finish as a final jeweling step before a topper. Awesome turn around, great video Phil.
Nice job, I'm impressed by how much you care about the customer's car buy also keep a sense of business while doing the work. Keep it up and good health to you and your wife
Did it all by hand, just needed 4-6 microfiber cloths, a spray bottle with water, and Turtle Wax Hybrid Ceramic Wet protectant. I found the perfect Chemical: Flitz Polish for metal, plastic and fiberglass, it is kind of expensive @ $13.50 for 7 Oz, but the liquid form only takes 1-2 drops per pillar. It is a polish and claims nonabrasive, but it must have some very, very fine abrasives in it. It made my pillars look like clear mirrors after just a very light circular application with microfiber towel and a quick buff before it dries with a second microfiber towel. They do make cream that will probably work on deeper scratches, but for everyday swirls marks it works great. did all the pillars and mirrors on a Lincoln SUV in 20 minutes start to finish with a spray wet ceramic protectant. Just have plenty of clean microfiber cloths and a spray bottle of water to wet before applying wet spray ceramic protectant. I used Turtle Hybrid as it is good on any non-porous surface. Remember this plastic is soft and, in most case, has little to none clear coat, the less pressure the better the results, no real pressure while rubbing needed.
Nice results. Perfect Finish is so nice to work with. Enjoy the Rupes 3 inch. I enjoyed it for many years. I just picked up a Flex PXE 80 to replace it and so far I am enjoying it and dealing with no cord. I may pick up the flex 3 inch corded polisher as well. Heard it was less prone to stalling than the Rupes. Keep up the good videos.
Good job Phil! 👍, I managed to have the piano trim finishes to perfection with Meguiar's ultimate compound with Burgundy Meguiar's 4 "pad and ultimate polish with yellow Meguiar's 4" pad. Smooth and no longer the slightest flaw! (Even under control lamp) Better than M105, M110, M205, M210 "on this finish"!
hey, nice! Im blowed away! You think this can be used on a ps3 Console? Like the one in this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ZT_ijQyRLto.html Because the results ive saw in different videos are a joke! But your pillar polishing is stunning. Looks like a new pillar.
another great video again Phil.Brain taught me ALWAYS b clear coat friendly.not worth damaging something chasing perfection. great advice from a great guy and master detailer. hope ur enjoying the awesome east coast weather. b well stay safe buddy
What a killer combo for making the pillars look SO much better! I agree with you 100% about not going much further on them, but WOW they look great! I have ordered from Car Supplies Warehouse and I have been very impressed with them and plan on doing more business with them! Great video Phil and keep up the the great work brother! 🐝
Really nice work, with new detailing products seemingly coming out 2x/day, let us not forget the classics, Perfect Finish and an orange LC HDO pad, if it isn't broke don't fix it. Phil how much pressure were you putting on the DA while correcting those B'Pillars?
Hey Phil. Ever had any success with the pillars that are that that black tape/film? Im not sure if mine were ever gloss. It's on my Toyota Tundra, 2009.
Hi. If it’s the black glossy vinyl film then I only do a gentle polish on them since they are vinyl. But if they are a matte finish vinyl then I wouldn’t polish them at all. Usually I just use a spray sealant on them or even a trim ceramic coating.
Hello, how many times can u actually polish those? Had mine polished last week, they looked like new. Today while cleaning i messed up one of my pillars with bad microfibre towel. Imediately threw it away. The rest of them are fine. Want to repair it tomorrow
@@MirandaDetailingthank you. Today i got this swirled one repaired, looks brand new again. My car is 1 year old, but the swirls and scratches drove me nuts. It was already swirled when i bought it and also the dealer washed it while i neeeded something done. Next time i will definetively not agree to have it washed by them. So i already have my exterior piano trims polished twice... My detailer used a simikar orange pad and Koch Chemie Micro Cut. Looks awesome.
@@MirandaDetailing one more question. Im wondeing how would it look like if the clear coat had gone, i mean you exagerrated with polish. Does it look like black none glossy plastic or white stain or even different? Cant find the answer anywhere but im curious. Thank you in advance
@@MikesPL86 I've not sure exactly because I never polished through it before. but I have seen pillars that looked worned down before and maybe it would look like a dull spot.
Hey Phil, my wife's 2013 Vw has REAL bad clear coat failure on the B pillars. (Between the doors).. would you recommend wet sanding, then a foam pad to get it done right. Your expertise is needed
Is there a way you can tell how much clear coat you can cut? Im not sure how thick the clear coat is for pillars :o Also I love your videos man, taught me a lot of tips and tricks! Keep it up!
Awesome.....Question how to clean my glass...after window tint i noticed all windows have dry runs ( Chemical) from spray bottle.....not sure what they did....Thank you...My color of my car Pearl white love it..
Can you correct the gloss plastic areas like this on the bumpers as well nowadays that some have? Curious what combo you’ve used on those i want to go light but make sure it’s fixable
Hi. Yes you can. The bumper black gloss is different than the pillars. The bumpers will be painted and clear coated like the rest of the vehicle. The b pillar are a type of glossy plastic, like tail lights. Treat black paint on the bumper like normal paint and you can cut and polish them.
I don't have any of the electric tools but I do have Meguiar's ScratchX 2.0 remover. Any idea if this is safe on door pillar (which are also high gloss piano black such as you have in the video)? Thanks to my dealership taking my a few week old car through an automatic car wash and scratching door pillars!
😂 I know right?! Unfortunately not much can be done to prevent it when washing. Especially when customers are washing their own vehicles. The only way to really prevent it is PPF.
If needed they can be pulled off and new ones pushed on. The ones on my CX-5 you can do that. No need to remove window trims. However the new ones will still start scratching up from day one. Damn stupid the way the car companies use this stuff.
Hi. Oh yeah if someone wanted that they can totally be painted over. but they will still need to be polished from time to time because its a major area that gets touched a lot.
Phill thank you for this video I will save it for later. I ordered last coat black ice to put on my wife car, my question is before I put the black ice can I polish the car with a black ceramic polish Wax Black
You’re welcome. You mean the hybrid solutions black Polish and wax? If so yes you can but it’s best to wait 24h to let the ceramic black Polish and wax cure. Then go over it with the black ice.
Paint protection film. Really the only way to protect gloss black pillars. Those pillars he polished will be swirled again in no time... it’s just too soft.
I used Gtechniq C4 to protect mine after polishing per Phil's recommendation and they're doing great. Going to try Sonax on the wife's car to compare having just purchased.
Miranda Detailing thank you for your help! I’ve got to finish a detail tomorrow and the truck I’m working on has those pesky black pillars. Also it has some water spotting on the paint. I appreciate you always taking the time to reply to our questions. Been a big help to this beginner.
