It seems decent, I can’t compare to other as the only other polish I’ve used is Pledge around the house lol

As I only play solo the thought of polishing 20 bases feels me with dread. It smacks too much of housework.

I experimented with furniture polish, but after 24 hours it had all either evaporated or soaked into the cloth. However, using it wet I achieved great success, no more unintentional spinning, and far better sliding on a nylon pitch! Next I'm going to experiment using a double-sided trumpet polishing cloth. I'll be interested to see if that even works, and if it does, how well.

Are you allowed to talk about polishing trumpet online? lol. Shame the polish soaked the pitch hope it didn't ruin it

Polishing has made a big difference to my game once I got used to the distance the player travelled. Sort of made it more fun . Great vid 👍

There are people out there that use household polish, I haven't ever but it all started once upon time with simply household polish. I've even heard story of car polish, altho I wouldn't recommend that

I am from the US and has never heard of Subbuteo until recently. Needless to say, I'm quite intrigued. Do you have any suggestions for a novice like me as to any specific set I should start with to get my feet wet? The funny thing is...I'm not a big fan of soccer (football).

Hey pal, I’ve seen a new America’s struggling to get starter sets recently. Best place I would say to start is garage soccer from what I remember. Trouble with all the Euro sites is shipping is high and there is no US distributor. But garage soccer is based in the US and gets stuff over. Doesn’t matter if your into football or not Subbuteo is a great regardless. Love of it on the channel to keep ya busy too

Think your conclusion was pretty accurate mate to be fair , it’s up to the individual. Personally speaking, l tried polish about ten years ago , hated it , completely unrealistic flicking a figure from one shooting area to the other, that doesn’t replicate football IMO, also limits the curling/swerving ability of the figures. You know me Stewart, old git, old school 😆⚽️😎

Just your technique I think, I have tried using Mr Sheen on my lightweights before and they just glide on the standard pitch afterwards, does not last too long but polishing does work, its not cheating, you still need the skill.

Mate... I'm the one who produce Alan's polish. Let me tell you're doing wrong. Once you put the base on the wet spot, you need to pass the base in the dry cloth only 2 or 3 times. You're passing it 20 times,removing all the Polish! 😂
@SubbuteoCollector
@SubbuteoCollector 3 года назад
Yeah I've really should have followed the instructions better. If any thing I was copying what I've seen others do. I blame them, It's excellent polish really really good. What is the different between that and normal household polish? Without giving away your secrets
@fabiomallorca5530
@fabiomallorca5530 3 года назад
@@SubbuteoCollector ingredients make the difference. If you use more modern bases, like the hasbro, you can tell the difference. Alan for example, like me, play modern table football and with those bases, the slide is unbelievable. Anyway for the next time, just pass the base on the wet spot, after than dry the base passing 2 or maximum 3 times in the yellow cloth and see the results... 😂

You could argue that polishing the players makes you ‘overcompensate’ when you flick the figure. Sometimes, you might just need a light touch to reach the ball, if the player is polished, you’d hit the ball too firmly. If you don’t polish, then you get to know the strength of your flick by trial and error, a bit like a golfer when using irons. Personally I think it’s a complete waste of time, but hey, whatever suits the individual.
@SubbuteoCollector
@SubbuteoCollector 2 года назад
I think it depends on the style of game your playing nowadays. Old school proper subbuteo, no polish, if going for modern table football game, polish.
@shedxi8521

It does work but no need to splash out on specialist polish. Mr Sheen or the like on a duster does the job.
