Polka Varities 11/15/81 part 1 

Thanks for posting the Polka. I grew up in Cleveland watching “Polka Varieties.” I’m Irish but I played in a kickin’ Polka band for the old-timers in a nursing home in a Cleveland neighborhood. It made them all so happy and young again. Ever see someone Polka dance in a wheel chair?

Thank you so much for uploading this. These are my grandparents, Ed and Gilda Cifani, and recordings of them performing are hard to find. Nonni is currently 93 and still mimes playing the snare drum whenever she hears music.

This is so great I was born in 1953 Raised in Cleveland. I cringe when parents had this on TV Remember we had one TV only 3 channels and nothing much to do in those long winter seasons on the East Side the snow belt.

I grew up watching this show in Cleveland and then met someone in college that enjoyed watching this show on Sunday mornings while taking LSD and smoking pot...he called it going to church.

The intro announcer for "Polka Varieties" was former WEWS NewsChannel 5 staff announcer David Mark.

This was always a highlight of my Sunday when I was a child. This, and the Gene Carroll Show!
